Exactley! I obviously know CSS if I was able to code my userlookup prior to this disaster of a revamp. Well put!

Morningstar I think thats so they can hold something in their foot when and if TNT releases the wearable acessories.since they can't make the angry at my redraw fist that half the other pets now have.

Lol, so they can hold a glass of beer in that foot? Just like a drunken sailor would? And gosh, I was sure my maraquan jubjub wasn't into alcohol. Seemed so sweet and innocent. Time to take that sparking cider and hide it, huh?

Heh, first happy Image in my head about the pets since this double whammy of site and pet change. "Fifteen lupes on a dead draik's chest, yohoho and a bottle of.." hmmm sparkling cider doesn't really work there have to work on my sea shanty.

There's too much glaring white on a page, I've never like the boxes, moduals, whatever, webpages. I now am going to have to learn coding because I hate the way the pet lookup is. My pets are too small to see and even though the ones I have now can through the changeover okay the pose is growing more iritatting and my bori is crosseyed now and the planed final colours I don't know some are still okay but others *shudder*. I also miss my side bar artwork. I'm trying to stay of the site this weekend between the pound shutdown and other glitches and me being sad. But I'll probably be back in aweek or so not play as much though and look for a petsite where they might warn folks that a major change is coming beyond a missleading meepit. thursday stared as such a good day too I just got my first world challenge piece and all this happened.

I don't know about shops, because I never bothered to customize much of mine, and in fact hate it when people make their own sidebars and such, since it's only slowing it down for me when I'm on time limited quests, employment agency jobs, and feeding kads! =P

It does appear, though, that user lookups are easier to customize now. As for having to spend several hours learning how it all works... the Web Developer extension for Firefox is such a godsend. Click on any bit of a site and it'll show you which part of the stylesheet affects it.

My very first initial reaction to the layout was OMG I CAN'T HANDLE CHANGE, but hours later, I've adjusted and I don't mind it.

The immediate reaction to any change is usually resistance, but I think people will gradually get used to the new layout and where everything is again. There were problems with the navigation of the old layout. For example, why do I have to go to the HELP page to get to my EDIT PROFILE and SITE PREFERENCE pages??

My Chia looks a bit silly with its fist, but I'm sure said fist will soon be holding something, and it won't look quite as silly anymore.

I'm getting a brain tumor reading some of the posts here...I can't figure out where anyone's complaints are coming from other than a paranoid fear of change in general. They are not trying to make people angry and nothing about it comes off as a joke. The new features are FINE and they haven't ruined anything. What they've done is finally become a real game, if anything.

Wow. I find it extremely angry how Neopets has sort of transfered everything we used to know and love about Neopets into stuff for litte kids.

HUH? None of the new aspects are any "kiddier" than the site ever was before.

Seriously.

Enough with bashing other peoples feelings. This is the last warning i'll give on the thread. If you don't like reading about other peoples ideas on it, then stop reading the thread. Simple as that. Coming onto this thread and insulting how other people are thinking just won't fly here.

So. LAST WARNING.

You may not like everything you read here, but everyone is allowed to have an opinion. If you don't like someones opinion and can't figure out a way to state so without using veiled insults or outright flames, then don't post.

Reiterating what ahoteinrun said in BIG ANGRY RED LETTERS

Everybody has their own opinion on the matter (some incredibly strongly on either side of the matter 0:) ), but ahoteinrun has said MANY times to cut the insults, belittling and blatantly obvious round-a-bout ways of making fun of people's opinions, and it is still continuing.

AHOTEINRUN HAS EXPLICITLY TOLD EVERYBODY TO STOP INSULTING OTHERS FOR THEIR OPINIONS. SO STOP. NO IFS. NO BUTS. NO TRYING TO SNEAK INSULTS THAT YOU THINK WE DON'T REALISE ARE INSULTS. JUST STOP

YOU'RE BREAKING NUMEROUS RULES OF THE SITE IF YOU CONTINUE

Quote:
Refusing to comply with the wishes of a staff member will generally result in a permanent ban. There is simply no excuse for this behaviour.

Quote:
"Flaming", is when somebody attacks somebody else over the internet, normally in the form of insults. This will not be tolerated. You do not have to agree with every other member of PPT ( And you wont at some point. Believe me). You do not have to like every other member at PPT. You do, however, have to respect every other member of PPT. And when I say respect, I mean respect their right to have their say just as you have the right to yours.

...

If somebody flames you, do NOT retaliate. You will end up in as much trouble as them. Just contact a Moderator.

I've been lenient till now (which was incredibly naughty of me, but I found it rather hard not to agree with some comments) but the initial "OMG! ITS CHANGED!" is over. This stops now. If we see anybody ignore the direct order to stop belittling others, there will be consequences. There's no excuse for breaching the rules.

I highly suggest some people read the rules and strike policy

First, Inrun and TDG ... You Rock :peace: and thanks to you for your patience with us.

Was just reading through this and you know, out of left field while I was taking a shower earlier the thought occurred to me that this could actually be a way to get the "older" members off the site. I don't know whether to be happy or sad that some of you had the same thought. I don't think so for the same reasons -- that somehow having been on the site longer gives a huge advantage. I talk to people who've been around almost forever and they don't have painted pets, loads of np (so they say, who knows!), they just like to hang out.

My theory is more along the lines of the people who've been around for a few years and who are older are more likely to be critical, to call TNT on some of the stuff that's gone on (like 4/4/04, sdb, TP, bank glitches, CGers, etc.) and send in the reports. We are the pink poogle toy description:P We whine, whinge, complain and generally can be a royal pain -- but we get our point across even if nothing's done about a situation. I'm guessing they (new management) is going with the thought that newer people won't know directly about alot of the things we've dealt with, won't think (or care?) to send in reports, try to demand attention to problems ... if something comes up that they really don't like they'll just leave.

I hope I'm wrong, I really do. It's not a great way to run a business of any kind. The adults, for the most part, are the ones with the money/credit cards/paypal to pay for premium, the magazine, plushies, and any other merchandising they may come up with.

Many younger people (NO offense to anyone young here - you all are so mature it's hard for me to remember some of you are young) are very fickle. They may join the site if it's advertised or by word of mouth i.e. the video or customization thing, but they're also quick to leave when the next fad comes along.

Us old-timers, regardless of our chronological age, are the ones who've stuck around through all the glitches, DFM, general lag and changes. In other words, we're their loyal fan base. They do us and themselves a disservice by making us angry and feeling like we just don't matter.

P.S. Just looked at that Alexa graph out of curiosity? It looks to me that there's been even less activity on the site than last night. So where are all those people the Editorial says like all the changes?

Fixed. Seriously, she's been the main campaigner for order in this thread. I just bolded what she said. No credit to me (who was too wrapped up in "OMG SHOCK! MURDEROUS RAMPAGE" to be level-headed like her), full credit to her.

hmm, the site to me looks like http://www.msn.com now. . . Very professional, clean cut, all the information you'd ever want. I'm 25 years old, been playing about hmm, 7 years. . . I really don't mind the layout change at all - it's the pet redraws that bother me. It actually feels like the site is growing with me. I do actually believe the layout/links are more intuitive. If only they would get rid of the cardboard cutout raised fists!!

EC, the master of great reasoning, has made a good point with this is the part of the theory. This could be a reason for driving the older players away, but it should be the reason we stay. The older players act as the conscience for Neopets. By staying through an act that will change the face of Neopets itself, they can throw the layout change and revamps in the face of the people who caused them by remaining on the site acting as Neopets conscience. The ones who have stood by Neopets in the past are the ones needed to keep the site honest and force them to never lose sight of the past. Even if we do not agree with the changes (I happen to not mind the changes), we should power through them and prove to everyone on the Neopets staff that they cannot silence the wisdom and experience that the older players can use to keep the site honest and safe for all players.

I don't want a peace sign, I want a cookie... or cinnamin toast crunch. *sulks* I don't think it's patience so much as utter exhaustion.

I'm of the same opinion of Mercurius. Sure, the layout was a shock at first. But I adapted, and I now LOVE it. After a minor break from Neopets, this layout was the thing that got me exploring again - and playing! :D I've played for nearly 5 years, and I remember the uproar when Neopets switched to the old (new?) yellow layout and ads. I know that this layout is a shock, but give them a chance.

I do hate the pet revamps though. My Mara Acara looks like a creature crawling out of the deep, and my Baby Bruce looks like a duck. >_> Only my Disco Aisha got a decent revamp, and it's a LAB pet for crying out loud.

Wonderful sentiment to read; this reminds me of an expression: "there is no such thing as patiently waiting .. either you are patient .. or waiting". ;)

But i'm not waiting. So i'm either patient... or apparently blank. Maybe this means I don't exist... hmm.

Um - I'm not sure we're looking at the same graph. As far as I can tell, they haven't released data for April 28 yet, but there was an increase over the 25th-26th-27th period (probably mostly due to the weekly cycle). It would take several weeks to see any distinct impact. Are you getting intraday results from somewhere that I'm not seeing?

I'm looking at this graph by the way.
