I think it's goping to take some SERIOUS getting used to, I feel confused, not like I can take my normal relaxing stroll through my daily activities!
I'm also irritated by it saying "Merch News" Under News
The module thing is useful, kind of nice to see your pet all the time, and plus if they are hungry the red catches your eye and makes you annoyed. I only have one pet so it's not taking up loads of room.
One thing, it doesn't seem to say on the user-look-up which needs some serious jiggling) the amount of games you have played. I find that annoying.

I really hope that they change the shops to flash too... It would make it so much harder for people to make programs to autobuy.

I kinda like it, and the Xwee Ghost redisign with that aura is just awesome... especially on a background.
but the Jet redisign is... just... meh.

What annoys me most is that probably I won't even be customizing my pets. The pose of the Tyrannian Krawk and Faerie Pteri take away all of their speeshulness
I'm sad it's permanent and we can't switch.
I need to get used to it. And check all the layouts to see which one works best.

Since I've seen this a couple of times now, can someone add "To get to your inventory, click your neopoints total" to the first post? (Might want to note that games played thing too.)

With all the site update, TNT forgot to put a quick link to your guild (if you are in one). That is why I had favorites anchored, I had quick links to all my Neo places.
To get to the guild you have to go via your lookup, which is very annoying.

Yep, they are foisting this mess on paying customers as well. We get everything non premium people, except no ads at the top or bottom. You should see the premium boards. People are up in arms over this. And some have been practically duking it out over there. Friends are now enemies. Sad.

I have two main problems with it.
First of all, everything that was taken from the old layout is off center. This includes all the shop pages (main shop, bank, SDB) and the explore pages (main map and specific world maps). I suspect this has to do having your pet in a box on the side. Get rid of that and center everything else out.
Second, the sidebars. The sidebars is now on the top and the bottom. You can't see the complete top of the sidebar because of the ad in the way. You can see the bottom just fine but I rarely make it down to the very bottom of a page. Once I get to the ad on the bottom of the page, I don't go any further.

Notice on your lookup that TNT have called our previously known Sidebar Themes as Site Themes now.

I have just got that random event thing where little images of your pets float across the screen. There is no point to it now because it floats behind all the information.

So I've finally, got home, caught up and had some time to browse the site. I actually kinda like it - I know I'm in the minority. I'm kinda glad it didn't turn me off immediately, as Neo is my one big stress-reliever and I currently have a lot of stress in my life. Most of my pets made it through without being butchered (and the only butchered one is my current lab pet), so I guess that helps. Here's my two cents:
Having played Neo now for about 6 1/2+ years, I was a little startled that they dumped the layout change on us so quickly, but I was not surprised about the customization. I had a feeling that after the "beta" of it last weekend, they were going to be initializing it sooner than later. I do agree that they should have given us a lot more notice about the layout change, though, and some sort of poll on the site would be helpful (unless they're expecting us to post at the Beta Board?). I've sent a few comments in on smaller things (a few glitches I've seen in artwork, particularly the Faerie Uni's wings, which show up OK on the pet lookup but no where else).
As far as navigation, it has actually been easier on me. I don't have my favorites anchored to the side as I use Firefox and have my bookmarks at top, and currently use the resolution they designed this for. I poked around for a while and got the feel of how it works.
My family in general seems to actually like it. My brother is excited about the Meerca redraw, because now painting a Meerca would actually not be so much a waste of a p/b (since previously they barely showed the color). My sis isn't so happy about the Christmas Usul (the hat look REALLY weird), but aside from the hat, she's OK.
I do not like the redraw of the Elephantes, Krawks, Bruces, or Lutaris. Period, end of story. However, I didn't really like Elephantes or Krawks to begin with, and had none of the ones I don't like the revamps, so that's kinda a moot point for me - but I definitely feel for those of you who had these pets. One of my good friends is horridly upset about the Elephante redraw. As for the Unis - I actually really like the redraw. My very first pet was a Uni (still have her), and I picked her because the My Little Ponies were my absolute favorite toy as a child (I still have them). Robot pets - I think it's hilarious to undress them. My husband did that with his robot Lupe, and I can't stop laughing at it now. He thinks it's great and plans to leave it that way. Also, it cracks me up that invisible pets now have faces and nothing else.
One thing that seems to be passed up a lot: the fact that they *did* incorporate some requests in the new layout regarding the "site themes". Many people had wanted different plain colors, and now that is an option. The "plain" bar is also a little bit less plain than it was before, and the yellow is more muted and easier on the eyes. Also, it's no longer a bazillion clicks to get to your favorite games (which irritated me because I was too lazy to make a bookmark to it). Now, if only they'd add a shortcut to the WC in that little games drop-down...
I'm not too thrilled about the side modules, and from the FAQs on them, they are not going to be removable. I think it'd be nice if we had that option, or perhaps some other modules we could replace them with. I did see my active pet make some sort of comment, but I was playing an HTML game and clicked too fast to read it. (The pages are loading rather quickly for me, too).
Overall, I think they did put a lot of effort into this, and they'll probably be making a lot of changes to tweak it over the next few days/weeks, so likely, it'll get better.

I agree, it'd be nice if we could actually customise the main page by selecting which of the windows we actually wanted to display. it looks to cluttered with them all and half of them i don't care about (Like the new items part, the pet spotlight etc etc)
I don't mind most of the redraws, in fact most of them look pretty much the same to me... you'd have to actually show me a pic of the old and new designs side by side. I don't like the new Lutari and i'm undecided about the new elephante... part of me likes the cartoonyness, part of me hates it.
All my pets look awesome though my aisha has lost her collar. It's in her inventory when you click customise, but it's greyed out. I've asked tns what's up with that.
A thing that bugs me, the static images. It just looks WRONG. going to the shrine and having this static image that doesn't even change? the battle dome even no longer has the fight or injured poses. I'm really really hoping they're working on this because it was such a nice touch! and get rid of the backgrounds everywhere but the lookup PLEASE! it jars badly having this white screen and then this square of colour from the starry background.
I wonder when we'll get the backgrounds that were in the beta, I liked them a lot better.
hmmm, also, the game room wont load for me. I get the new games window, the featured game window and then that's it. am i missing something or is it a glitch? It's irritating me because I can't browse games anymore or locate the games I usually play that I can't be bothered putting in my faves. Roodoku isn't even on the list! yet i'm playing it right now... wth?
What confuses me is that they already revamped the games room, why have they done it again? what's happened to it? I want my games back! *sob*
but yeah.. pet redraws i'm fine with.. all mine as I said look awesome. My mutants especially (I LOVE the new mutant Aisha, she's stocky, she's got splotches, she looks damned freaky! whoo)
I want the search bar at the side again though. It doesn't feel right to have to scroll to the bottom of the screen. Just a slight design flaw I feel, it should either be at the top or to the side, not hidden down in the copyright info.
Oh, another glitch i'm hoping is a glitch and they'll fix.. the lookups thing.. EVERY SINGLE PET aside from ones created after the switchover have the same likes and what they'd do if they met another pet. It's silly. I'm hoping it's just a coding error because no way did every single person on Neopets pick the same options for all their pets.
there's still a lot of creases to be ironed out. I'm sure we'll all get used to the layout the same way we did with the gamesroom redesign (remember the fuss over that?) and all the little glitches like random events, lookups etc will be fixed in the comming weeks. I'm waiting a week before I start to actually complain, these things take time after all.

I got the answer wrong first time round, it gave me the answer, then when I went back to neopets it has reset, so I put the answer in and won a carrot helmet and 250np :/ I feel like a cheater.

So I've been playing around with it for a bit now and another gripe I have is that the new games room is very awkward. I know it's pretty much the same as the old new one (which I had just gotten used to)..but for some reason my brain isn't connecting with this one. Too many modules (I hate that word now) and the screen is just too wide for me. :/
Ugh. And This is probably intentional on their part, but the bottom ads are too close to the actual content, so I keep clicking on them by accident as the page loads.
Has anyone figured our how to block the new ads yet?
