I wanted to have a little fun and see you guys on your creative side.... so now every month, I will be hosting an art contest! That doesn't mean you have to be able to draw.... it will be some form of art whether it be creating something at home, designing an advertisement, or using a specific type of media to create your piece. It will change every month!

This month, December's Contest, is called Grease Is the Word!!

If you haven't heard, a new TV show is coming out called "You're The One That We Want!" where hundreds of potential Danny Zuko's and Sandys will be battling with their acting skills until there is only one of each remaining, and the winners will get to star in the new Broadway production of Grease the Musical! I'm super excited, so I want you to make a poster to promote the musical!

The Contest: Design a show poster for a theater performing "Grease: The Musical", and make it visually interesting! Eye catching! Instantly colorful and gets you in the mood!
So you don't have to draw it, you can use other images... or, you can also draw it if you want! Use whatever forms of media you want.... just design and post one of those large posters for grease!

RULES:
1) This is for the musical, not the movie. They are basically the same, but I dont want to see John Trovolta, or any of the movies characters edited onto the poster. You can have Danny and Kinnike and the gang or Danny and Sandy or whatever, just dont use Grease The Movie actors on it. This is a poster about a musical performance! Feel free to recreate or draw characters or a bunch of greasers around Greased Lightnin' or something, just dont make it look like a poster for the movie. Got it? Good.
2) You can enter as many times as you want... but only your best entry can win a prize!
3) Contest ends when December ends. You will all be busy and Xmas time, so enter soon!



I haven't seen a lot of grease posters around, so show me something interesting that really gets me excited about the musical!

Feel free to use slogans, phrases, or quotes from the show that represent the entire feeling of the show! Or dont! whatever you want!

okay, ill let up a little bit on this. Let me say, you *can* use grease images.... from the movie. Just DONT MAKE THE POSTER ABOUT THE MOVIE. Its a stage production poster.... okay? Otherwise, do what stampsyne did, and disguise the pictures..... photoshop them in some fashion. He happend to fill them in. You could do sillouettes, you could use line-art to make them look cartoony, orrr a number of other things. You can use pictures of John Travolta.... but dont have John Travolta looking like Danny as the main focus of your poster. It's the character/ the generation/ the music/ the theme that's important, not who the main character looks like. (also posted below)

Remember, its all about design, not about photoshop skills! Draw it with a pencil and paper for all i care... its the concept that might win you the prize! I saw the promos for the show, and I must say, I am intrigued. Intrigued enough to make a poster? o.o

well, if anybody IS interested in entering.. i would appreciate if you would post your interest.... ill be cancelling this contest if i get barely any entries... (you know, those entries that are like "oh, this contest ends in a day, and nobody entered! I can enter anything and basically win!" type of thing. Im offering some pretty schnazzy prices i think, so if your going to enter eventually, let me know

Considering that you've given the deadline as the end of December, your threataning to cancel due to lack of entrants isn't exactly fair. When PPTMAC was run the majority of the entries were completed late in the game.

it wasnt exactly a threat... i was just curious if people were going to do it or not.... i wasnt going to cancel it NOW just because people didnt enter.... i was just saying that if it appears later on in the game that nobody intends to enter, then i might cancel having such a contest..... but for now, ill let it go. Like i said, i really just wanted to know if there was interest. Good point though.

Well, I might enter, if I can ever finish my 20pg paper (i have 8 pages, its due Monday). *le sigh* I have a really good idea for this, too.

Can I know a little more on this Grease thing? Like, who are the people etc?

It's pretty hard to find the musical cast members...when you google "grease" all you get is John Travolta and Olivia Newton John.

That should give some more info on the musical, and not the movie. Which reminds me...I thought we couldn't use the movie characters in the posters...?
