But see, we don't know what prizes will be given out beforehand. If we did, possibly we could just earn x number of points, enough to get whatever it is we're wanting, and be done with the plot (though economical, it'd be a LOT less fun/rewarding that way). There is no way to make 100% sure we get enough points to get "something good", but you can increase your chances of doing so by doing every step in the plot and earning as many points as possible.

Which is what most of us are trying to do here. But the lag makes it really hard, if not impossible, to do that. Hence, the frustration.

However, having said that - good to see you're pretty relaxed about the whole thing. :) Might as well be, to save your sanity.

That would certainly explain why the lag is much worse than I remeber from any of the pure war plots. In one of the Meridell wars, there was a war room that showed how many players were waiting there, and presumably how many were battling at any given time, and I remember around 27k being the highest online during the first couple waves. I don't recall there ever being a time during any of the pure war plots where the average wait time for a single battle was 3 or 4 hours for this many people. At least then, you knew that there would be a few weeks as opposed to days open to do something. I imagine that if they said that'd you'd have to do all your fighting in any given war in just a week's time, the entire site would be down.

Are they suggesting that anyone is having fun trudging through neck-deep lag in the battledome?

I'm sorry, I understand the traffic the site gets, but the suggestion that in years of trial and error this is the best solution (lots of lag in the Battledome? Oh well!) they could come up with... well, color me disappointed.

I've never known TNT to be especially concerned with their users enjoyment if it means they would have to work a little harder on something.

Ya know, back in my day...

I never remembered any lag this bad for any previous plots.. Neopets V2 had no problems, though that was just a puzzle-type plot, i suppose..
HatIC didn't seem to have any lag either, as far as i remember..? Though i suppose that pets were too busy getting sick to actually battle and clog up the servers..
(And.. I missed the merridell wars, The maraquan war and the LDP, due to temporarily giving up on neopets. Damn.)

Maybe that's what TNT could do? Putting on some kind of restriction, so people couldn't just win battle after battle? Like a cooldown period, similar to the gravedigging/marking/testing section?
That's make it so only a proportion of pets would be in the battledome at a single time..

is it just me that isnt all that fussed about the lag and stuff. i've been trying to fight but if the lag is too much (ie not letting me even into the fight) i'm giving up - i'm not doing the plot purely to get prizes at the end, i'm doing it because it is fun - and all of you that are moaning about "not being able to get enough points/max out" then you should take a step back and have a think - i havent managed to get one tree yet because everytime i've managed to get into a fight, i've gotten one screen, my pet's taken a hit, and then its died on me. but i'm not getting as riled up as you lot are!

Some of us are not as patient as you are. I, for one, look at plots and wars as a means to move up in Neopian society: prizes are neopoints, weapons, and trophies. I want those. If you don't, that's fine, but please don't preach to us about how mature you're being.

For me it's a part of the fun of completing the plot, to have done every step on the way. And it is annoying that such a stupid thing as lag should destroy a part of the plot for a lot of people.

*Kicks lag*

I'm gonna go play Dark Crusade, I can bash all I want without the lag.
I do atleast have atleast one kill on everything, so I'm happier about that, always got to have atleast one fight against all the foes... Even if it does mean I have like 200 lossess over the last few years, from opponents far too powerful for me too take... Ahhh, Darigan the burninator, how I love thee ^_^

I apologize for coming off so cross. I am very disappointed with the Battledome at the moment and I didn't appreciate someone telling me to calm down.

I love plots, but I am not very good at them. I do, however, have a lab pet with medium-level stats. For me, this excursion into the Battledome is a chance for me to make up ground that I will undoubtedly lose when we get back to plotting. Losing out on my chance to keep up makes me sad.

I can foresee a future plot, where you can get to pick either puzzle or war - just as in you could pick Warrior or Supporter in a previous war.

That should keep everyone happy (maybe). :)

If you could only pick one side, then no, it wouldn't be fair for everyone. I love both, and I'm not brilliant at both, but I guess you could call me a "Jack of all Plot Trades".
That's pretty much why I prefer being able to do both. The way this plot is laid out, though, makes the battle side look pretty insignificant. What would be good is a puzzle plot going on at the same time as a war, rather than alternating like this. Not only would this be good for the people don't want to battle, it might be even better for the people who do. Anyone interested in puzzling will spend some time away from the dome, and the lag would (hopefully) die down. Of course, the only way to *really* achieve the lagless part would be to somehow ban doing both at the same time..
Anyone seen those movies/TV shows where there are two groups of characters? One group is at home with all the gadets and gizmos, working out how to fix something the bad guys have done, while the other group is out there quishing the villain's minions. Of course, this would make doing both illogical, but then, these plots can't really be considered all that logical.

"Moaning about not being able to get points and max out" -
Some of us do enjoy seeing how far we can get, and then battling for real from there on. Maybe it doesn't float your boat, but we enjoy it. Feel free to do something else you consider worth your time, and we can play the game as we want. The lag wouldn't bother me quite so much if I didn't know the opponents will be gone by the time I get home tomorrow evening.

(You know, considering the site started for Uni students, it's starting to be leaning away from that idea, isn't it? How many uni students here have time for the plots these days, really? Sorry, random thought. :P)

Wow I've been away from the plot boards for a while. o.o Missed a lot.

Hmm, well I've battled a little with my low level pet...but to no avail. I've won one battle, but the other two battles lagged so much I never got to do anything and it just declared the results after several LONG reloads. (Draw and a Loss)...Now I can't even load the battledome page. XD So I've given up on this step pretty much. At least I've tried and that's what's important to me. ^^

That and I'm so ecstatic about getting my meowclops today I could really care less about battling. XD

So aside from the lag, how's everyone else doing?

I'm just about up to 30 of the toughest trees, and they're starting to get a handful now..
I'm struggling through the lag and got 7 of the middle trees, and i've left the easiest tree, with only beating it once so far.. hopefully they leave it up for a while longer..
