What really helped me a LOT during the potion mixing was to create a table in word document. The rows were the ingredients and the columns were the colours. In the table I kept track of how each ingredient reacted tp each colour. When I found an ingredient that changed a colour to the next step in the chain, I highlighted that cell.

This helped me keep track of the order much more easily!

I don't know if it's just me but the 'puzzle' phases have been so easy so far. I think maybe I just have a wierd effect on the randomizers TNT use but I'm never stuck with something difficult, even for the vine section. In total this potion making took me.... 4 minutes. Maybe 5. In my mind it's kind of like the old memory games. Only they don't show you the path before you have to repeat it. Just guess and remember what moved you to the next colour. Anyways good luck, I'm sure every last one of you will get it eventually!

For the record, here are my colour progressions:

1st iteration: Red + Bumroot = green + leafy = blue + jurpleberries = blue + bumroot = purple

2nd iteration
Red + bum = green + jurple = blue + bum = purple + salt = pink + leafy

3rd iteration
Bum = blue + sansam = purple + sansam = grey + salt = pink + salt = multi + sansam = swirly + samsan = purple + samsan = red and white

Holy smokes, talk about a royal headache, a peptic ulcer or BOTH! I've been working on this darn thing for at least 2 whole hours and I still can't get the bloody thing right! I tried keeping track of the effects the ingredients have on the potion but I always end up getting stuck at some point. (Just so you know I'm at Stage 3 where I have 5 ingredients.)

Salt/Crushed Jurpleberries --> Blue
Bumroot --> Purple
Bronze Sansam --> Pink
At this point, Leafy Slorgblossom resets it back to red so I have to avoid it.
Bronze Sansam --> 4 Color
Leafy Slorgblossom --> Green Yellow Swirl

I can't get anything past the Green Yellow Swirl. If I pick Bumroot, it goes back to the 4 colors. If I pick Leafy Slorgblossom, it goes back to 4 colors and back to Green Yellow Swirl if I pick it again. If I pick Crushed Jurpleberries it goes back to purple. If I pick Salt it goes back to green. If I pick Bronze Sansam it resets the whole thing back to red. Argh!

I even tried 2 different approaches but I always get stuck after getting Green Yellow Swirl and all the ingredients seem to be a no-go. At this rate I dare say grave marking is easier. Yes, graveMARKING. Try not to mind my frustration... what I'm trying to ask is-- can anybody help? :(

Does your purple look like this? Image

If it does you're actually on the right track :)

stampsyne had a post back on page 5 of this thread with links to images of every stage. Scroll down to near the middle and a little further down. Try checking your color against that!

I did it! Thanks draconis! :hug: I was really worried this would turn out like the LDP (I had to stop working on it since it was too hard and/or complicated =/) but now I can relax until the next hard step. ^^;;

My last one was surprisingly easy: burmoot, and then bascially alternating between salt and samsan, repeating salt twice at one stage to get the shimmery purple. I've been lucky this time - unlike the LDP!

Wow, once I got the hang of that, it was actually quite easy and, amazingly, fun...

lol, I got the Sparkly Purple for the first time, and the only reason I noticed was because the picture took a second to load as opposed to the other cauldrons I happened upon which were already stored :P

I just finished my potions :) it didnt take me too long. :) i found writing down what i'd tried and wht worked next to the colour sequence i was aiming for worked

This part of one of the conversations made me laugh, after bruno was shrunk:
Sophie: Aww, I always wanted a little brother.
Bruno: I live for the sake of your amusement, sister.

Partly because i can imagine zorg saying something like that to me!

Took me a while, but I got it.

If you scroll down to the bottom there, that guide is the way I solved mine. Again, it's basically just logical trial and error - posting what ingredients you used is pointless as it won't be the same for anyone else.

This is kinda easy (well, at least easier than the other steps, where I got hopelessly lost in the forest). Took me less than 20mins. Or is that considered long...?

I didn't keep track of my first combination (because I remembered everything), so I'll start with my 2nd.

2nd: Leafy, Bum, Leafy, Leafy, Crushed, Bum.
3rd: Bum, Crushed, Salt, Leafy, Leafy, Bumroot, Salt, Salt, Salt.

And anyway, POOR BRUNO!!! First he became fluffy, then he shrinked till he's like so small, and now? To be continued... :\
If he explodes I'll cry! :cry: But I don't think TNT will design their story like that.

I noticed that each potion has a fixed sequence. So if you're on the third potion, and you made it blue by putting just one ingredient in, you can be sure that putting that ingredient in when you have a red cauldron can make it blue. Therefore, if you remember what you did last time, you will be able to make the same thing happen this time, and so you can very quickly finish this part of the plot...

am i guessing right by saying that the ingredients sequence is different for everybody?

it's just, a tried two of the combinations for the 2nd part of the potion, which were used succesfully, but for me it does nothing. :(
