My :x sibling installed family keylogger and hacked into my account, , today I checked and found my password was not working so I asked for it to be sent to my email address which is fortunately the one only for neo, and I find my password changed I don't know about the damage to my account as after unsuccessfully logging for about 5 or more times it states that I have to wait for 35 mins.
I know he has been trying to use the keylogger to hack my account for the past few weeks and I have been continuously uninstalling and deleting all files related to it, who knew he would have been so desperate to do all of this when I was asleep :x , anyway does anyone know anything to combat the family keylogger? because I dread the hazard my account will have to endure :x :x :x :x

Install antivirus and antispyware programs to remove them. Use a seperate profile on the computer and look for any suspicious programs running in the system menu, usually accessible by ctrl+alt+del.

Alternatively, your own, password protected computer. Kind of pricey though.

I agree, though for now you could just password protect your family computer, then he cant log in. Much better than violence. Though why would your brother want to hack into your Neo account?

And how did he change your password if you were online waiting to be able to log in again?? Surely he couldnt log in either? o_O

I had this happen to me. A Housemate of ours decided it'd be funny to hack my account transfer everything I had to her account and sell it, and pound all my pets as an april fools day joke.... thankfully it was only a side account (I only ever leave my side account logged in) and the damage wasn't too severe. However it's safe to say I was not impressed. :x

Try trojan hunter (free trial) , it catches almost everything.

I've heard of people who are paranoid having a file with their passwords and copying and pasting from the file into the website -- that way your neo password would never actually be logged. Of course, you'd have to password-protect that file -- Word has that feature. You could also type your password out of order -- I do that on a public computer. I type, say, the first, third, and sixth letters. Then I move the mouse between the third and sixth letter and type the fourth one. Then I put in the second one where it goes, and end with the fifth. That way he'll have the password, but completely out of order. I think that keyloggers can't monitor mouse clicks, but I'm not 100% sure... Someone else will tell you if this method is full of bunk.

If your parents use this computer too, tell them that your brother can steal all of their passwords as well -- e-mail, online banking, online shopping, etc. Even if it's just you and your brother, I'd try to make an appointment with them and explain the seriousness of what he's doing. Sure, neo is just a game. But he's hacking and stealing from you. If they let him think this behavior is okay, he might try hacking other people's computers. He's stealing things from you that you worked hard to get -- yes, they're virtual things, but you worked hard for them. I hope you can get this straightened out. You might want to self-freeze until you can to preserve your account. Good luck!

P.S. How old is your brother, anyway? Is he older or younger than you?

I agree that you need to get your parents involved. Do they disapprove of Neopets? Do they approve of your brother hacking your account?

PS -- do self-freeze and go do other things with your time until you've worked this out.

You could perhaps make a seperate password protected account on your computer? I'm not sure how good it is at avoiding key loggers but it could be worth a try.

As a Quaker, I am fundamentally opposed to violence.

But seriously, kick his smurf.

Anyway, I like the alternate-letter-typing idea. Choose a longer password, one with at least 10 characters, and type the third letters, or the consonants, or whatever, then put your mouse in place and insert the other letters.

We have 2 computers so he just used the other one, its okay now as I seem to have gotten my account back after the second login interval and everything seems to be safe as he has'nt gotten my pin and thanks mogster I'll give Trojan Hunter a go.
I just wish the Family Keylogger program was'nt distributed so freely as in my case and the testimonials of others it has been used for a lot of ill gain.

You could also try using the onscreen keyboard to get around it for now - does that work? *not technical* xD
