Hey.

I used to play neopets quite alot. Back then I heard from a friend that there was a legal way to 'cheat' the random event system. It was called refreshing.
I used to do it when I played neopets and it had rewards.

I stopped playing some time ago but decided to start agian. I was wondering if your account can get frozen from refreshing and is it agianst the TOS of Neopets?

Thanks

Refreshing is okay as long as it is you doing the refreshing, not a bot.

What if it's a keypresser? Or a plug in which is available for my internet browser?.

Has anyone ever been frozen purely for refreshing? the Neopets Staff can't prove that you are using a bot to refresh if someone were to use a plug-in for their broswer which simply refreshed. It's just as good as hitting the F5 Button every 10seconds.

Can someone please verify. Thanks

It has to be you doing the refreshing (this can include pressing the F5 button). The Neopets staff can work out if it is you doing it or not. For example, if you had a program that refreshes the page every 10 seconds, it would be exactly every 10 seconds, so it wouldn't be likely that a human was doing it. This was covered in the editorial a while a go. I'll try and find it later for you if I can :)

Ya you have to be sitting at your comp refreshing the page and as long as that is what you do than that is fine.

Although I know several people have replied, I wanted to clarify that they are saying you have to do it personally, with your own hand and a button (whether key or mouse makes no difference).

Some people say that you can get frozen from refreshing to much. For example some avatars people say you can only get from refreshing and they say that you can get frozen from refreshing to much. Is that true? ~ x_tammeh

Just like many things in Neopets and life, there is a line. Let's clarify.

- Hitting refresh repeatedly for a few minutes, allowing the page to load. – Great

- Holding down F5 for 10-30 seconds at a time, checking for the avatar/challenger, then trying again if it has not been achieved – Still good.

- Holding down the F5 key for 20 minutes – Okay, but try to take a break for your mental sake and ours.

- Leaving your "cat" on the F5 key while you make a sandwich. – Not good.

- Leaving your "cat" on the F5 key all night while you sleep – Bad.

- Using a program that refreshes for you at the same rate as a human – Frozen!

- Using Opera to open 100+ pages and hitting "refresh all" – VERY frozen.

Basically, anything that plays the site for you, and requires no effort on your part, is considered a "bot" and will get you frozen. Even your "cat." This includes auto refresher functions in browsers, or putting a weight on F5 to do things the old fashioned way. If you don't do any of that, you don't have to worry.

It's near the bottom.
