So do you think that Krawk Island will lose this round? I purposely chose Haunted Woods (I'd been with Mystery Island, for rounds one and two) because it had less players, although not the least. (I really don't like Darigan)

And do you think that score will count? I hope not, becuase I've been winning 1-0, because I do other things after I'm in the lead, using the previously mentioned method.

Possibly. Obviously to get through the second round and not drop their scores to the same degree as the other top teams Krawk Island has some very strong players, you've got to congratulate them on that. How long they can keep it up while lots of new recruits are joining and flawing the record... well... that's the problem.

I'm not quite sure what your other question is asking exactly. I'm not feeling crash hot so it could just be me. I think all the scores either have already or, in the case of round 3 games, will eventually count. It'll all count during the participation prizes I assume too.
Is your question about 1-0 a question about whether you're a "useless player" as I referred to them in my previous posts? I'd say no, the scores you sent didn't make you useless as you still contributed something to help out, even some of your work may have needed to be statistically reduced to account for the fact some players mightn't have been playing.

Whether a 9-0 win is better than a 1-0? At a guess I'd say it is, afterall TNT did say that was one of the elements used in the calculation of the scores.

Sorry if I've missed the second point entirely. I could be rambling.

your score in terms of 1-0 vs 9-0 might not matter. it said in altador's description that they're high ranked, but score very little. so if they can do this, i'm sure you can

1-0 and 9-0 matters, possibly so strongly that a 9-0 game is worth several 1-0 wins. This is quite obvious from the various things they've said about how they calculate scores.

What they say in the team descriptions is finction. In the neopets world, each matchup is decided by a single game much like the soccer matches in the real life world cup. Thus, fictionally speaking, a team with low scores and a super strong defense could rank very nicely. However this has nothing to do with the technicalities of the game we're playing.

Abandoned or unsent games might be counted as losses, so send all scores. Even 1-0 scores are great.

Is there any proof that scores are even seen? the only thing that is verifiably taken when a score is sent, is the outcome. and all that is shown in your record is your WLT. there are no QP or RP. unless this is hidden from us, and there is no way to know whether or not it is.

Yes there is. Apart from them saying so, they also stated that the staff tournament follows the exact same system as our own, except with fewer players. We clearly see players with the same w/l/t record winning and losing over different scores.

That's only in the case of a tie though. And, with as many players as neopets has, the chance of a tie is pretty much null.

My questions was if a 9-0 is better than a 1-0, sorry for being unclear, thanks for answering.

Ok, I'm gonna get a few high score now, but I haven't played a full game since round 1... so I'm kinda out of practise.

Oh, okay *slaps self in the head* Sorry about my largely rambling answer then. Good luck with the games! sometimes I have some really bad runs and wonder how it is I've ever scored above 2 goals. Other times with a bit of practice and a bit of luck (evil faeries) it's alright.

Practice rounds I don't really play the games the whole way through. It's suprising how useful just playing a couple of goals once in awhile during practise is. I'm sure you'll be fine!

Even if a tie is a remote possibility with the amount of players, theres still that little note at the bottom of the Previous Rounds page that keeps getting mentioned and then forgotten:

Quote:
"The Altador Cup Committee bases scores on win/loss/tie record, point scores, individual performance, and a weighted average based on team membership."

The only thing out of that list that the users are completely aware of is the win/loss/tie record. Nothing else is shown to us, yet its stated that those hidden items are used in scoring as well. We dont know how our performance compares to others, we arent shown our total points scored, or how many people are on our team to provide the averages.

The 'point scores' seems to suggest that points scored in the game are taken into account somewhere, unless I misread. If thats the case, 9-0 and 1-0 games arent equal, except in the sense that they're both wins. Something like the 1-0 is a win to be tallied, but the 9-0 is a win to be tallied...plus more. Either way, both wins will ultimately help the team in the end.

Since it's based on overall performance as well, then I'm not gonna get a high score (I'm Krawk Island). XD I have the sloppiest ball hadnling of anyone. But, right when I thought I sucked at Yuyouball, I got this:

That's only in the case of a tie though. And, with as many players as neopets has, the chance of a tie is pretty much null.

It's only seen with ties because a tie is the only condition where we can see for sure that it has effect, and because anything other than a win will almost certainly be a very low score as the computer isn't really capable of pulling 9-8 wins. That doesn't prove that w/l/t is more important because it'd coincide with score anyway. In fact, there is no experimental evidence that W/L/T is counted at all, as everything can be explained with just the score system. Thus adding it to the theory (or for TNT, the formula) would be pretty much superfluous. Now they said they're counting both, but I'd guess that counting scores makes up for the bulk of scored points because it's simply far more suitable for an elegant formula that handles exceptions (like lazy players) well.

Also, many of the staff tourney players were obviously New Member at the game. In the real tournament, the extreme majority of all recorded scores will be wins and the difference between a good win and a poor one will be far more important.
