Is it just me or is the AI a lot better when it's not Jelly World?

They don't seem faster to me, but it does seem as though they can pass better.

It's not just you. The goalkeeper seems slightly faster to me.
To do cross-goal shots with ice ball now *requires* you to have approached the goal further towards the edge. In fact, I started attacking by going on the outside of the side defender, rather than between him and the central one, then attacked once I passed him, and that worked nicely.

Getting possession of the faerie ball (a start!): let them take the ball initially. They'll pass it backwards: if to one of the side players, attack them, but usually it'll go to the goalkeeper. Go up to but not past the central defender, then wherever the goalkeeper tries to send it, you should get possession.

I just played a game of (8)Kreludor versus (8)Kreludor. Man that was confusing.

{EDIT}: Just played (0)Jelly v. (0)Jelly. It felt quite slow. Getting the goal with ice took several attempts.

(0)Jelly v (8)Kreludor Should be good practise, because it's a pretty safe better that if there is any difference between teams, then Jelly is weakest of them all. {EDIT}: Just played it... 2-0... if anyone thinks they've mastered the faerie ball, I urge them to play as (0)Jelly v some other team. If you can manage to score then, tell me how! It took me about fifteen attacks and about 2m 30s!

When playing as Jelly, passing the other teams when they have a fire ball is pretty difficult, almost never worth trying. Use a further back player.

I'm almost always hitting shift now, whenever possession switches. Just seems like the right thing to do 90% of the time.

YAAAY! Space bar skips the ball animation! n.n

ok, jelly vs jelly is insane. jelly players move pretty oddly, and the AI is different from the AI of the other worlds. you need different strategies. personally, i thought the jelly world players were the most difficult. i can easily beat the other worlds. my best score is currently my 9-0 of haunted woods vs krawk island

Thanks, I already found it slowed the game down too much :)

As for playing with the faerie ball, I think just shooting it straight at the keeper works best, just shoot it when you're near the second set of lines and it will have quite a good chance of curling past the keeper...

Just out of curiosity, have you noticed any difference between the 17 Jelly and the 0 Jelly?

I doubt there will be one... that sounds like what's known as 'good programming technique' of having a default value if no valid value is entered.

case team_$i in
1) return Brightvale; // (or whatever)
2) return ...
...
16) return ...
default) return Jelly;

Go ahead and try, though. n.n

{EDIT}: Eurgh, 4-3. My closest game of my 24-game winning streak so far.
{re-EDIT}: then 4-0 6-0 -- wtk? o.O
Getting possession straight away is key. If they get the ball into your half you MUST go back to controlling the keeper. You can ensure possession dependant upon the type of ball by how close to their middle guy (the one who takes the ball first) you get.
I hope I'm not the only one who is using 3 up front in every game? :P

{re-re-EDIT}:

This really works. *faint* I'm hardly conceding any goals now. Last eight scores:
4-0, 6-0, 6-0, 5-0, 9-0, 8-0, 5-0, 3-1

Going to change teams now to make sure it isn't some secret jelly advantage, but I'm sure it isn't. At the moment I'm finding that for each ball (except maybe mutant, which I'm usually treating as if it were ice), there is:
(1) a 'sweet zone' to shoot from (which places their goalkeeper in a bad place
(2) a 'sweet target' (which makes the ball whizz past the keeper too fast and go into the goal corner
(3) a semi-optimal way to take possession at the start
(4) a best way to regain possession after a failed shot.

If I can solidify these in my head, I might be able to post pictures of them.

One thing is becoming clear: their defenders are just a silly minor nuisance most of the time!

Great to see that my fellow Faerieland-supporters are doing well ;) I'm on a good winning streat too (haven't counted them though) with 7-1 being my best result so far... But no more training for me now, it's getting way too late and I should have already been in bed for like 2 hours, this game really is too addictive :)

Man, I'm pathetic at this game. Hopefully, I'll get better before the actual game starts.

I'm supporting the Virtupets Space Station simply because they have robots. I'm an unashamed robotophile.

OK, I think I have proof that the teams are different. Play against Altador (team 1). Darigan (3) and Kiko Island (6) is will be bad against them because they can't tackle and get tackled too easily. Krawk Island (7) are even worse! Faerieland (4) are better because they have ninja tackling, but they're slow. Kreludor (8) are a bit faster and almost as good at tackling. Brightvale (2?) are similar.

Lutari (13) get their passes and shots intercepted more by defenders, but not the goalkeeper.

Play Mystery Island (12) against Altador (1) to see what I think is the slowest team (at least against this opponent).

Makuta: please break up that link as it stretches the board. I don't think it's significant, all flash games are handed the world name, as well as various other things that do nothing for most games.

This works:

If that were true, 18 would also be jelly, but it's not, it just doesn't start any game.

Faerieland for the win! :D

I've practiced with all the teams, and while Tyrannia and Kreludor have fine teams, I'm going to stick with my Faerie Bruce. <3 I can beat Jelly World (woot woot for me? o.o) every times by at least 3 goals. :D

Looking forward for the real action to start!
