Yeah, I have perfect pitch but my TV is sooo old that it's hard to tell with the speakers. We got it after my sister was born...so it's about 16-17 years old. Also, I heard it sounds different hearing it live and hearing it on TV with all the instruments and acoustics and stuff. With Kat's last performance, it was sooo off. Maybe it was because of the song - you notice she had to sing it an octave lower?
I don't dislike Kat. I just think there are a million artists like her in the recording industry. There are many girls who have great voices and who are good artists, or would be good potential artists. I mean, she would make a good pop star, but there are so many other pop stars with the same style. No matter how great her voice is, it's just not unique enough. I could imagine see her as an actress though, maybe in musicals or on Broadway like Diana.
Her style is like Kelly Clarkson, but Kelly is better. I watched the first season of American Idol and although I don't remember all the top contestants, I do remember that Kelly was consistently good, never in the bottom, and always got great reviews from the judges. I liked her from the start and I remember the voting lines were always busy for her. Then again, it was pretty obvious she would win from the start. Justin and Tamyra were good too but Kelly simply outshined them.
Taylor... I don't know, I can't imagine him being the biggest success of all the contestants. I don't think he'd be the kind of artist you'd see on TRL on MTV, nor do I think he'd be the kind who'd sell out stadiums. However, he is confident in who he is. He knows his style, he's not embarassed to show off his moves, and he seems 100% real. I just hope his album shows who he is, not who the record producers want him to be. Sure, it may not be as marketable, but his fans will stick by him.
I think the real success of this season is Chris. I've finally accepted the fact that he's not going to win it. He got offers for bands less than a day after he was booted off though! Even if the thing about the wrong phone numbers is true, we can't do anything about it now. I think I voted but gave up because I never got through. Fans were probably too overconfident and didn't vote as much as they should have. That was probably how it was with Tamyra season 1 and LaToya season 3. They probably thought he would win anyways, so why vote? (OTC: Ellen Degeneres asked the two past presidents if they could do anything about Chris being voted off, like if they had the power to undo it XD.)
I'm kind of glad that he's not winning because the 19 Entertainment contract would really hold him down. They don't have much control over the first album, but then again, most new artists don't. I'd imagine if he got a contract with 19 Entertainment, they'd MAKE him do pop ballads. He couldn't really argue about it, because they could just as easily drop him. (They dropped Justin and Diana for selling under 200k copies) Another thing - if the runners-up or other contestants who didn't win got a contract from 19, there is some rule that they can't release their album until at least a year after the winner's album is released. This may be a rumor actually, but it makes sense. Clay Aiken managed to dodge this though with lawyers who helped him find loopholes and eventually get out of the contract. However, his first album was managed by 19 and it came out just 4 months after the finale, meaning it was probably mostly completed before the finale. It really depends on the person's style.
Another random comment - Daniel Powter's performance was a good way to end the show. Did you notice Simon left by then? Lol.
YAY...I can't wait until tonight! I heard rumors on the internets that Clay would perform with Carrie, but I've heard the claims being denied too.
Thread need to be split, much?
