Someone who's stuck at the plant might want to give this a shot.

As noted on the page, it assumes that each wheel/switch has exactly two states. I think this is a reasonable assumption, given that only two states are distinguishable and 256 possible states is a pretty big number. Note that there are only 255 links because that's the number of transitions needed. I could easily add some JavaScript to step through them, but that seems too 'botic.[/url]

I gotta say, that page atrus linked to is insane. I knew there were a bunch of combinations, but never really realized it was that many. I can see how that'd be really helpful, though!

about the theory that each valve/lever is a "gate". There's a flaw. There are 12 vats/troughs and only 8 valves/levers, so there wouldn't be able to be a gate for each one.

The problem with that is, if the flooding is random also, when you flood, you're screwed. since it resets, and so you need to start over again. but since you'll use flashgot/downitall or just spam through it in different tabs, you'll probably not notice, and all that RAM will have been used in vain

Actually, no it's not. The flooding happens when all of the wheels are in the + position and all of the levers are up.

I had all the wheels in the + position and the levers up plenty of times and I never flooded it once while I was messing around with them.

Meep. I was reading this topic about the horrors of the water place and started randomly clicking absolutly evreywhere, partly because I'm doing homework and need a place to vent and partly because I don't want to try anything technical until using the 'click like mad' techinique I seem to be so good at. xD But it took me like... 15 clicks or so. Versus three days? :S If it is indeed random, it might be statistically /possible/ to not get it quickly... though probable?
-sigh-
Randomness makes the world go round.... quite literally.

That water thing is awful. I've done too many sessions at it, all too long, since the "puzzle" came out. Now, I'm pretty good at wasting time, even was content to click all over that Lost desert archive pyramid thing, but this is just too much.

I've done all the "combinations", checked what people here posted as working, but most of all I tried to figure out how they switches and valves worked. The pipes/vessels are connected to different pipes at different times. In a few cases, I have be able to re-create water moving from "here" to "there" by turning "that", bit it's not consistent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

(It does flood every time i turn them all "on", though).

If I had a dice, i'd use that for one last try. Anyway, I'm about done with this plot - if anyone finds what the puzzle is about, please let me know.

grrr.

Actually, when you flip a switch, sometimes it flips another switch somewhere else, and stops it from all being in the on position. Keep on trying to do it and it will happen.

Also, I forgot to say that the switches also control several different gates each, because you might notice two bodies of water moving to another place when one switch is flipped. Enjoy trying to figure out what goes where.

If it was, then there wouldn't be all these people here who are unable to find their correct order.

Personally, I'm really looking forward to the plot solution released by Neopets at the end. I really want to see how all of this worked - especially the water plant. My guess is that, out of the 256 combinations, everyone was randomly assigned one, although the fact that people have claimed to try every combination and not have it work sort of messes up my theory.

What I would be interested to know is if the finishing combination of water is the same for everyone - forgetting the levers. I know that, now I've finished (it took me five minutes - sorry guys! I feel for you!), I don't actually have much water on my screen. Maybe this is relevant?

Hate to burst delusional people's bubbles, but the "passageway" behind the Betrayer's statue is the entrance way into the HoH. I hope no one thought we were tossing a grappling hook into a window and climbing up (although that would be sweet).

Not trying to challenge you or anything, but it's just people's two cents, after all. No need to speak as if people are such sorry excuses of humans with sad little daydream theories.

And I may have missed some threads ; I admit I didn't read all ; but if you can provide me with links to posts that have already determined that it's an HoH passageway, so much the better. Not general "ah-well-since-everyone's-neutral-let's-just-take-it-for-real" responses, but really actual.

Thanks. No offense meant really, my point in my second paragraph was just to express that it's just people's two cents. Even I also agree that it's the entrance by now. It's just that you don't have to be so high-up-there about it. Perhaps I'm sensitive, but really. But it's kind of irking to see people mention "delusional people's bubbles" and "although that would be sweet" comments after sarcastic suggestions of tossing a hook or snide "Hate to" comments.

The last paragraph was really my main problem. I hope I've followed the rules of "drawing-a-non-hateful-conclusion". I have nothing against anyone. :)

P.S. If this was a bad post however, someone please tell me and I'll take this down. I just felt I had to post this.

Hm, I honestly doubt it could work for everyone, since it's been proved by some people (*cough*metoo*cough*) that putting the wheels and levers in a certain position isn't enough.
There must be some deep hidden logic in this. Hasn't the Yurble got anything in his toenalis this time, like "turn 2nd wheel, pull 3rd switch"?

I have water in one of the tubes and two of the vats. I never had a lot of water sloshing around, even when I was working on it.
