For the water thingy, I flooded Altador by flipping every wheel in the + position and every lever pointing up, then I click once on every wheel and lever. Finally, I started messing with the wheels on the left room and it worked. not sure if this is the same for everyone...

okay, this has been discussed along time ago. but there actually are ALOT more possibilities with the switches.

if we are supposed to switch each lever/wheel only once there are 40320 combinations!

(simple maths. first you have 8 choises, then you choose one you have only 7 choises. choose one 6-5-4-3-2-1.)
so it's 8! and results in 40320
if this is the case I really doubt we are supposed to just guess the right combination.
though, this does mean oen could switch twice in the same room. I don't know if this is what we are supposed to do though. O_o (but are there anything against it?)

I don't know, but I think we are supposed to guess which wheel/lever to use by watching the water. O_o

though if it is just on or off it's more simple. hopefully it's that.

Can anyone tell me what the Archivist says BEFORE you find your constellation. I forgot to go there after I found my clue. Thanks.

This drove me crazy! I tried the systematic way posted, but I must have skipped something because nothing worked. Finally I just started clicking around (after flooding Altador a couple more times) and as soon as I started getting distracted and just randomly clicking without paying attention, I got it! I know this isn't that helpful, but I'm just really happy it finally worked. Maybe a good tip would be to try not to get too frustrated, as you'll get it eventually...Good luck, everyone.

EDIT:

...is this in English? is this supposed to help in some random mathematical way?

Someone on the Neoboards said there are 13 possible combinations (I know there are actually way more) that are the CORRECT combinations, and each person randomly gets given one of the 13 as the one they have to find.

This kinda makes sense because if it was completley random then you could possible be stuck there for days and days if not weeks trying to figure it out randomly as there are A LOT of combinations that can be used and u may (without even thinking about it) just be going over the same incorrect ones over and over again (ignoring the possible 13 correct ones)

Also there are 12 heros right? and someone said something about tehre being room for an extra person in the book? and also I assume that altador himself would not steal all the history etc. so there must be another person in the plot.. hence the 13th person.. 13 combinations.. 13th person may have casted a spell to make everyone forget tehy even existed too..

Its just a theory based on what the neoboards person said about there being 13 correct combinations for the water place.

In which case if everyone posted the combinations that worked for them, and the 13 correct combinations is a true theory.. we could then figure out what the 13 combinations are and anyone who has not yet figured it out can just go through the 13 combinations to find out which one is their correct one.

umm.. did that make any sense at all? sorry im real bad at explaining things.

and also as i said .. the"13th person thing is just a theory based on the 13 correct answers for the water pump station theory

I can tell you it's not the combinations we are trying to look for. :/
unfortunately.
first I tried all minus (-- --- ---)
then plus in one (+- --- ---; -+ --- ---; -- +-- --- etc.)
then plus in two (-- --- -++; -- --- +-+; -- --+ --+ etc.)
then I returned to the rightmost room to test with three.
this was how it was when I started: -- --- --+ and I was able to pull only one lever up before I fixed the thing.
I got mine on -- --- -++ and I had already tried that.

So it is not about on/off combinations. :/
or at least not with me.

it's english, yes. :D and it's not supposed to help, it's supposed to make everyone feel mizerable as there are way too many combinations. XD

I've been playing with the library. I believe it is unending.. I have used co-ordinates of 1000000x 2y and the grid still functions, the doors go to the next appropriate coordinates.. I know people talked about thinking it was unending.. but I didn't see anyone test the coordiates.

Doesn't seem to be likely simply wandering around the library will be rewarding.

There has to be some order or pattern to this. Surely someone noticed?

If you look at your URL change, you can even see that flipping things off and on sometimes does not change anything. And I may be just tired but I am pretty sure I noticed my water changing *without* me clicking on anything. And it seems to happen like every 10 minutes. I can turn all "on" and not flood Altador; I can turn all "off" and still have water on.

If anyone out there noticed anything more about what they did, such as "i went to a room, clicked once, then went to another, clicked once, etc." that would be more helpful, in my opinion, than even people posting their final "lever and dial" order. It is not what worked, but how you got there.

The URLs allow only one change per room it seems? So if i fiddle around for too long, why do I have to flood Altador before I can try again?

*floods Altador with tears* oops, I did it again ... :P

Am I the only one who thinks the necklace could be the same one? I mean, they're not identicle, but... same colours.

I had the same trouble. When you go back to the plant, keep on refreshing the page until the door opens. It worked for me on the first try. Good luck!
