world challenge?

If you're asking about World Challenge map pieces, I believe you only get them if you beat at least 3 other people in a WC score and land in the top 5. (This excludes the buying possibility.) If you are referring to the map pieces from Treasure Hunt, the only way to get those now is through random events and are unrelated to scores.

You get pieces for top score yes. I'm pretty sure.

i hear a lot of "i had the highest cumulative score, why didn't i get a WC map piece?" 99% of the time the reason is because you didn't have a tally greater than or equal to 0. even if your scores add up to millions of points, you won't get the piece unless you have a tally that is not negative.
