A ghostkerbomb can wait until your main attackers do 16 icons or more (at that point a honey potion becomes much less useful). Right now a honey potion would be a sufficient bomb, and it's pretty cheap at the moment because there are no war rumors or anything. The greater healing scroll is fine for now, because it still heals around 1/3 of your HP. You might trade the Scuzzys Comb for a Ramtors Spellbook to get some dark icons instead of all that light, but it's not necessary if you do only 1-player.

If you wanted to, you could blow your entire budget on Wand of Reality or Bow of Destiny... or Mask of Coltzan. Now that's a fun weapon for people with balanced strength and defence. You're in the 125 boost, which is around the time people start upgrading from the 10-iconers (maybe with one 13-iconer and one 10-iconer as their main attackers). It's up to you, though. It's hard for me to say, because as I said above, the next real upgrade in power blows your whole budget... so I guess I would say yes to the Honey Potion and a Snowglobe Staff or a Black Frost Cannon before you do anything else. You can figure out what you want to do with all the remaining NP.

Thanks cranberry. Would Mask of coltzan actually be worth getting though, because doesnt it only do 8 icons? I guess I should try my luck at NQII insane for a WOR or BOD (if only I had the time).

With dual-duty weapons, you can't judge them on attack power alone. Yes, MOC only attacks with 8 icons, but it defends 11 (very common) icons. So instead of attacking an opponent for a bunch of damage while also taking a possibly large hit yourself, you're attacking for a little less damage while taking a lot less yourself. Dual-duties help you last more rounds in a battle without having to waste a spot on pure defence (like downsize! or a leaf shield/patched magic hat) or one of your faerie abilities.

An example (we know how I love those!): let's say you have used up burrow, sink and downsize! on previous turns in a battle. You suspect your opponent is going to toss his honey potion at you (or, in 1-player, you think he's gonna hit you with an earth-dealing weapon). How are you going to defend yourself? Use the leaf shield? That means you can only attack with one weapon and maybe a 6-icon species ability (if you don't have to select plain old "defend" to keep yourself alive, that is). Let's say you have a Wand of Reality -- so with that and the species ability, you'll be doing 19 icons.

Now imagine you own the MOC. You can attack with your WoR and your MOC, doing 21 icons while also defending yourself. And if you tossed in that species ability too, you would be doing 27 icons! Much better than 19. (Of course, this only applies if the opponent deals dark or earth -- you'd need other dual-duties for defending against other icon types.)

Also, fire icons are uncommon once you get up to intermediate/advanced-level battling, and they go right through the very common Ghostkershield -- a shield that stops the Sword of Skardsen in its tracks. For this reason, many people actually prefer the Mask of Coltzan to the much more expensive SoS. MOC's defence will also take a chunk out of the SoS and the Honey Potion, common weapons at that level.

From the MOC's rating at the In-Depth Battlepedia:

Quote:
It works wonders when you combine it with Air Faerie Crown; the light defence and the dark from the Mask Of Coltzan provide the two icon types that burrow does not block. Basically, if you use MoC + AFC and burrow, very little attack will get through to you and you will still have a 17 icon attack.

I see. I do mostly only play 1-player though, so I guess I'll just get the hpot and snowglobe staff for now, and hope that I get lucky in NQII. Thanks for the explanations cranberry :)

You're in the same boat as me (although I don't lab -- I just don't want to morph Alaskawolf). If you play 1-player only, you can use an Ice SS, but it only heals to full 24% of the time (the rest of the time it does nothing), so it will end up costing you a lot of battles or forcing you to withdraw and start over. The only other option is the Crisp Blue Tunic. It drains 100 HP from your opponent and heals you with it, so it's pretty awesome because you're really hurting your opponent while healing yourself a nice chunk of HP. However, it only works if you are down at least 100 HP and they have at least 100 left, so it can only be used in certain instances. Also, you need 750 intelligence to use it (although it's not too expensive to get to that level anymore). Bad news is that the tunic costs around 9 mil now.

Aside from that, there's really nothing. I usually can manage to stay alive by using one of the 33% healing faerie abilities (regeneration, restore, healing vapour) along with a greater healing scroll, but that's not perfect as it wastes a healer slot and some of my power. I'm really hoping the BD people create an all-species percentage healer very soon.

Thanks for the info. :) Kind of what I thought... I only play 1p, so maybe I'll try my luck with the ice SS once I get to the 125 boost.

as an alternative to the jade scorchstone and leaded elemental vial, doesn't seem too bad. but then again, reliablity is needed in a pinch, and i don't think superman defeated all the evils he did with something that might work.

hawtie, TRAIN. You could pick up an Essence of Esophagor/Scuzzys Comb combo if you like (and you should definitely get Downsize! and a Snowglobe Staff as well), but right now you will not do much damage with ANY weapon because your strength boost's damage multplier is only 1. So even if you went all out with two 10-iconers and fierce attack against a frozen/undefending opponent, you could do this much damage:

10 (icons) x 1.0 (damage multiplier) x 1.4 (fierce) = 14 damage.

Now, if you trained strength to 20, you could do:

10 x 1.25 x 1.4 = 17.5 (so, 18 damage)

And if you trained it to 35, you could do:

10 x 1.5 x 1.4 = 21 damage.

From 14 to 21 is a very nice jump that would help immensely. With your current stats, I don't think you can beat Meuka -- he's difficulty 60, which means he has the 55 strength and defence boost. Unless you have uber-weapons, it's always good to be equal to -- or one strength boost behind -- your DoN opponent, which would mean you should be able to beat him when you have the 35 boost.

Also, train defence to match strength as you go. If you don't, ONLY percentage blockers (like Downsize!) and reflectors/full blockers will do you any good. Leaf shields and things like that will be useless. For example, Meuka has a weapon (Meukas Snot Trail) that does 6 earth and 6 water icons. Your Leaf Shield could block 5 earth and 5 water -- which sounds great, right? No, because both attack and defence depend on your boost. So Meuka could do this much damage to you:

12 (icons) x 2.0 (his 55 boost's dmg. multiplier) x 1 (cautious attack, for simplicity's sake) = 24 damage, with just that one weapon.

With your defence boost, you could block:

10 (icons from leaf shield) x 1 (your defence boost's dmg. multiplier) x 1 (cautious) = 10 damage. So even if you used the leaf shield, he would do 14 damage to you. A few rounds of that, and you're dead.

You also NEED the abilities burrow and sink (when your level is high enough).

Stuff you should think about obtaining, as it'll help you a lot in the future:

Purple Sticky Hand
Snowglobe Staff
Downsize!
Scuzzys Comb
Essence of Esophagor (or even Stone Club, which is much cheaper)

But I'm not giving you a strategy for Meuka, because right now I doubt you could beat him anyway. Train.

Sorry about the double post, mods, but I have to help two people and (as you can see) there was way too much to fit in one post. I'm prolific, I know. ;)

You didn't post a budget, so I'll suggest some things and you can pick and choose based on your NP.

First, keep the scarab ring and leaf shield. Get rid of everything else, because it's useless. Train your strength up to 35, so it matches the defence boost, and make sure you keep them equal as you train. Codestone/dubloon training, faerie quests and kitchen quests (or the lab) are the only way to train HP, unless you want to use expensive neggs (you don't). Definitely train HP, because it's what keeps you alive in tough battles.

These are some great weapons (more expensive on left, cheaper and slightly less powerful version on right -- although nothing here is terribly expensive):

Essence of Esophagor OR Stone Club
Scuzzys Comb OR Earth Faerie Slingshot OR Enchanted Wooden Bow
Black Frost Cannon OR Snowglobe Staff
Downsize!
Purple Sticky Hand
Honey Potion
Patched Magic Hat
Leaf Shield (keep)
Scarab Ring (keep... nice backup)

If you want to go the dual-duties route (which is a lot of fun when strength and defence are equal, but can be more expensive), check out my post about them on page 11 of this thread (my last post on that page). If you do that, try to grab two or three dual-duties that defend against a nice range of icon types, so you'll always be prepared. Good luck!

I'll let it slide ;)

I'm currently training a new battledome pet. No price limits as these will be good things for me to save up for. He's a lenny and in a couple weeks, his stats will be as follows:

Level: 28
Strength: 56
Defence: 56
Move: 29
Hit Points: 84

My current equipped weapons are:

Scarab Ring
Downsize!
Bronze Scorchstone
Scarab Slingshot
Green Frost Cannon
Illusens Earth Potion
Ring of the Lost
Leaf Shield

I also have a bunch of random weapons in my SDB just kind of sitting around: Basic Lightning Beam, Enhanced Solar Gauntlet, Serf Lens, Plastic Butter Knife, Purple Blob Potion, Noxious Nectar, Caustic Potion, Cobrall Dagger, Sturdy Blue Shield, Poison Tipped Dagger, Bucket of Mud, Tooth of Terask, Purple Sticky Hand, Clay Sword, Obsidian Dagger, Astronomy Club.

I know of all the items in my SDB, I should probably keep the Tooth of Terask and the Purple Sticky Hand. Should I keep any of the others?

Also, as of right now, I have no abilities.

Thanks for any help!

Hello!. I'm currently looking for a future battleset someone could inform me of for my Royalgirl Shoyru. Because I'm just starting to save, the maximum priceline is about 4mil. A few hundred k over is fine, but I'd like to keep it around that sum for now.

Please keep in mind this is for 1-player-BD only.

Species : Shoyru
Colour : Royal
Gender : Female
Level : 29

Health : 55 / 55
Strength : GREAT (37)
Defence : GREAT (36)
Move : GREAT (24)
Intelligence : very clever

She's still training via use of codestones and kitchen quests, so her stats are constantly increasing. But for now, there's the progress.

The Lenny is an excellent battle pet, because you can get both a great species healer and freezer for the same price as one H4000 Helmet. So if you're going to keep him a Lenny, I'd aim for this set:

Wand of Reality (or the cheaper Scuzzys Comb)
Bow of Destiny (or the cheaper Essence of Esophagor)
Ring of the Lost
Entangling Lenny Lasso
Bag of Lenny Healing Seeds (although you don't need this yet)
Honey Potion
Downsize!
Purple Sticky Hand and Leaf Shield and Patched Magic Hat, to rotate depending on opponent

The above is more of a 1-player set. If you play 2-player, Mask of Coltzan and Dusty Magic Broom are fun because they attack and defend at the same time, helping you last longer in battle. You don't need to upgrade until your pet's stronger, though. The Tooth of Terask and Scarab Ring are still good at this level, as are Cloudy Wand of Storms and Frozen Wand of Crystals.

That's an expensive set, I know. If you don't want to save up the multi-millions required, the Black Frost Cannon/Snowglobe Staff are cheaper freezers -- pick one of those. The cheap Greater Healing Scroll is actually a better choice for you right now than the Bag of Lenny Healing Seeds, as the GHS will heal 50 HP and the seeds will only heal half your HP (42). I'd definitely think about it in the future, though.

---

Spongeybob Squareypants and Dusket: your pets have around the same stats, so I'll just give some general advice. Some good weapons people around that level often use are:

Scuzzys Comb, Ramtors Spellbook, Essence of Esophagor, Stone Club, Psellias Fighting Fan, Earth Faerie Slingshot, Enchanted Wooden Bow, Greater Healing Scroll, Downsize!, Black Frost Cannon, Snowglobe Staff, Honey Potion

If you're just into one-player battling, you can use a standard set:

1. Main attacker 1 (like Scuzzys Comb)
2. Main attacker 2 (like Essence of Esophagor)
3. Freezer (like Black Frost Cannon)
4. Bomb (like Honey Potion)
5. Healer (Greater Healing Scroll)
6. Pure defence (Downsize!)
7 and 8. Stealer, if opponent has something worth stealing (Purple Sticky Hand), or one-use bomb (Water Muffin, Fire Muffin, Snowball of some sort) or reflector (Ultra Dark Reflectorb, Shovel Plus, Turbo Flame Reflector, Double Dryer, Super U-bend, Dual Battle Mirror) or shield, if your defence is decent (Leaf Shield, Patched Magic Hat, Virtupets X-514 Super Shield)
