I've been playing for a very long time indeed, and yet, my NP amount is still quite low. (191,000 NP)....

Can you please share your oh-so-mighty wisdom on which items you can make a good profit from?

I try to stay the lowest on the shop wizard, and lots of my items go fast. But the main problem is, I barely get anything out of it. (50 NP at best).

Which items are best to sell/ most popular?

That would be a really huge list, and it changes pretty regularly. Some good general tips:

• Things that stock in the main shops in large quantities are usually either worth less than they sell for there, or are a tiny profit.
• If you're patient, you can often make a profit with paintbrushes. They generally increase in value over time, and some skyrocket if you need a particular color of pet for a new avatar.
• You don't have to be the absolute lowest on the shop wizard. Your item will usually sell within a day or so if you're close to the low end.
• Watch for investment opportunities. For example, since I find it too expensive to train my pets right now, I put all my codestones in my SDB. I sell them only when a war comes around, which has always gotten me at least twice the NP I would have gotten otherwise.
• Watch for retired items, especially rare plushies and books. When Poogle Solitaire was taken off of the site (which removed the source of magical poogle toys), the magical poogle toys cost somewhere around 10,000 np. I believe they're now selling for around 700,000 np. (And personally, I'm kicking myself for not saving more of them.) I've made millions on retired books (and of course, wasted it all, but you wanted tips on making the np, not on how to manage it). (=
• Never invest more than you can afford to lose.
• Some people really like the stock market. I don't, so I can't help you there.
• Most books will at least get you some profit.
• You can also watch the shop and trade boards for deals from other users, but be careful, and always always always double check prices on the shop wizard, in auctions, and on the trading post before purchasing unless you're sure. Many people, myself included, have been ripped off by people falsely inflating items. If it's something you've never heard of, you can always find another deal later.

Well, at the moment, from my experience there is a huge market for Lab Map (as there always is), same with PetPet Lab Map, et cetera.

Which would you say would be a better deal:

Buy items (Codestones, Fairy's, good magical items, et cetera) from MAIN SHOPS? Or from Player shops?

Well, codestones can't be bought from shops, really. And as I recall (although I haven't checked in a while) faeries go too fast and have too small of a profit margin from main shops.

However, if you have a fast connection, the igloo garage sale can be a great place to make a profit. That's also the one exception to codestones not stocking.

Overall, main shops can be very profitable if you have a fast connection and a good memory so you can know quickly which items to get. If your connection is slower, you don't react fast, or you don't type fast, I'd recommend player shops. They can be slower to turn a profit from, but you can also, in my experience, make a more stable income from them. Occasionally you can find someone desparate for np that's selling a good item for 99,999 -- I've found items with actual values anywhere from 115,000 to 850,000 that way.

Codestones and faeries can be a very reliable, if pretty slow, way to turn a profit. I recommend starting with faeries first since there's not as many different types. Search each one several times to get an idea of where the stockpiler prices are, and then write down a price that's 25 np below that. That's what you'll sell them for. At that point, I usually search for each fairy in turn with the max price set to 25-50 below what my price is. Setting prices 25 below the stockpilers means they sell pretty quickly (often to the stockpilers). Once you're banned from using the shopwizard, you can play any games you're good at for a while or check the boards for deals.

And speaking of maps, I almost forgot. You can get regular treasure map pieces from Scorchy Slots. I used to get around 3 pieces a day on average before my pet would say she's tired of playing. Full maps are often easier to sell, so you may want to hold on to pieces until you can put a map up on the trading post. (There's also often people posting on the Trading Board saying that they're looking to buy full maps from people currently online, so they're pretty easy to sell that way.) Or, if you're a risk-taker, you can turn in the maps and see what you get.

Most people pick one type of item to specialize in, as it's easier to remember what you're after. Lately, I've also been playing in the world challenges to get those map pieces. If there's a game you're particularly good at, it would probably be a good idea to check and see if it's available there (keeping in mind that some games only show up periodically).

I've never been too fond of Scorchy Slots. I lose more than I gain, I haven't played it in over 2 years.

The key to Scorchy Slots is just to play as much as you can. You really will turn a profit, even if it's just on faeries and map pieces. Once, I won a 200,000 np jackpot from it. I about fell out of my chair, and it also ended up landing me a trophy for it. Even discounting that, I usually end up about 1,000 or so ahead not counting the items. In a pinch, Dice-A-Roo can also get smaller profits on the food items, but I find it to be more tedious than Scorchy Slots is.

Stock market: At the stock market, buy 1000 shares of a stock that is selling for 15. The next day, buy a different stock that is selling for 15. Repeat forever. Eventually you will buy stock you already have, but diversification is the first objective. When any of your stocks reach 45K, sell all your shares. I've made almost 5M nps in 8 months. You need patience, that's all.

For immediate gratification, I've been having fun with Dice-a-Roo. It usually gives out a good handful of 100-200 np items a day, with an occasional bottled faerie. Search this forum for 'dice-a-roo', there's a guide to play it quickly.

- this is not like the real-life stock market. Don't bother with research and that stuff, it's all made up. If you get that random event where the guy suggests you buy a particular stock, smile nicely and ignore it.
- After a while, increase your sell price (60, 65, 80, etc)
- Ignore those stocks that are priced in the 100's. You will never have any because you always sell at a lower price. Never buy them. This is not the real stock market that has high-priced stocks because they are worth it. These are artifically controlled "stocks", and will eventually drop back down to 15 or lower.

Also, I hear there is a market for Scratch Cards. I've been selling a lot of them lately too.

I'd rather avoid the Stock Market. I have been playing Neopets for a long time, but not daily.

For the person who doesn't like Dice-a-roo, search around on ppt main site/game guides and use their short version.

It takes only about 2 minutes of sitting with your enter key pressed, and you "magically" get items!

Well, I have bought a few items and stocked up, it's been a few hours and no purchases.

Last time I checked, they were near the cheapest on the wizard.

It depends also on what you bought.

If you want quick profit, stock things that are Easy to Sell like codestones, dubloons, faeries, scratchcards, collectable cards, books, etc. But as iconoplast says you have to have a fast connection, as other players are also interested in quick profits also.

For hard to Sell products you make a greater profit generally, but you must be prepared for the thing to remain in your shop for a while. For this bigger shopsize is key.

Either way the key to this process is not getting impatient. For ETS you will face the reality that not you will not able to acquire all products you aim to, whereas for HTS you will see that the ones you have acquired is not getting sold immediately.

Also strategy wise, for ETS, your main effort goes in wiz-sniping, pricing, etc. Whereas for HTS it goes in advertising, shop upgrade, etc.

faerie quest items, job items from the farieland employment agency, scratchcards are all good sources of profit.

About 3 years ago, Snorkle Snout was an Esophagor frequent quest item or prize. It was worth 1k. Now with the release of the avatar, the item jumps to 80k! I jumped with joy knowing that I have about 5 of them in my SDB

Everything has sold, except my One Dubloon Coin which is 2980... Should I reduce the price, or leave it a bit longer? (It's been there for roughly 24 hours).
