You're all welcome, I'm glad I have been of help without giving too much away :) And I'm glad you like they way I did it, I didn't want to spoil it for people who like to figure it out by themself (like myself :))

As for the British keyboards, they have nothing to do with it...

It took me quite a while to figure it out too, it really didn't make any sense, until I noticed the first letter and went all like "waaaaaait a minute..." :P

I finally figured it out after reading how to do it. People are practically giving out the answer on the neoboards. Looks like its going to be a 50 np prize this week.

Seems like people have been doing this every week. I guess TNT's warning with that year 8 LC didnt work at all :(

what'd be nice (though possibly hard to code into the LC system) is a question whose answer depends on upon the person viewing the puzzle. Like a cipher, whose keyphrase is the user's name, or name of their oldest pet, etc.
If I worked at NP, I would so code that in. Pity I live in WA, not CA.

Edit: I just found a pic of a UK keyboard and now it makes even less sense to me. :(

It doesn't matter where $ is on a keyboard. The puzzle is in 1337. You have to go by what the symbols LOOK like.

EDIT; OH! I figured it out now! Thanks for the hint Hangman! :)

I'd love to see something user-specific too... Or just better monitoring, TNT said they would at least give a warning to people spoiling the fun by practically giving out the answer, but when I see the amount of almost-complete and complete answers on the neoboards every week, then I don't think anything is done to personally warn these people about it...

And you're welcome Aristide! :)

Another easy one. But are we to reply in the same way? Will they be able to check that assuming everyone's is different :o

Personally I think it is very difficult to set a LC question which will give high payouts to a few because we players have too much information at our disposal (unless you ask questions like "how many items you can find with so-and-so" or maybe pure guess type questions). A substantial amount of us will always solve this if they care to, with or without neoboards. True that neoboards splash out the answers but that would have only, maybe reduced the payout by 2/3 times, so you would get 1k approx. I am pretty sure it is not more than that.
Unless you can somehow ensure that there are still a big enough set of "probable" answers, a significant of us players will always find them out. Due to lack of those reasons, payout for MP is comparitively high, even when neoboards give the same amount of hints in majority of the weeks. I remember neoboards mentioning cooking pot, even jhudiah (spelling may be wrong) and all sorts of things in one MP, but I think we still managed to get around 3k each as finding the pixel was difficult, and there were a couple of other possibilities also.
Sadly this is very difficult to do for Lenny. Maybe we can ask them to give questions which only post-grads can answer, but that will not be fair for juniors. So I think we are stuck on this one.

That's true, it would be really hard to do... And I don't really care about the NP payout, it's not like you're going to get rich by getting a LC right (except for the ones where you have to guess...). I just think it's sad that this makes it completely impossible for most people to be one of the first 25O people to get it right... If people would only give out hints like I did, then everyone would still have quite a challenge, so if they beat me at being one of the first 250 that way, then it's okay with me... But right now I just can't get the trophy because I'm always too late, even when I get it within the hour that it came out... (let's hope this will change this time, since I got the answer right without seeing anyone here or on the neoboards who was even searching in the right direction...)

So I just wished the monitoring would be a bit better, I know it is hard for TNT, but they should somehow make it very clear that you can't give out too obvious hints by simply deleting anything that is too obvious and sending those people a warning... I think it would at least make a lot of people realise that they're kind of spoiling the fun for other people.

The think the reason the MP payout is always higher than the LC payout is because looking for the MP always takes work, even if you get clues. And the people that put in the time looking don't share answers. With the LC, a lot more people try to solve it and usually every week there's someone who blabs the answer or gives too much help on the boards.

Ergh! The LC always makes me feel so stupid! Especially that guessing one! I guessed Year 6! YEAR SIX!!!

Oh well... I can only get the first word... Which I think is WHERE...

I was able to get the LC trophy so it is possible you just have to keep trying.

I think it is tough for TNT to warn everyone that cheats or blabs the answer to the LC on the neoboards since there are tons of LC subjects and someone will have to lurk each board to make sure the answer wasn't given. Overall TNT is understaffed compared to the millions of users.

That's ok. I can't either. Does each symbol correspond to a different letter? Do multiple symbols come together to make up a single letter? These are the ponderings that keep me up at night.... That, or the homework.

Any idea why TNT extented the contest?

Quick question...

You know how the Lenny Conundrum page has the "Thank you for submitting your answer" thing at the bottom after, well, you submit your answer? Does that go away later? I was checking the page after I saw that the contest was extended, and found that the answer box was back. Is that supposed to happen...?

Thanks!
