Slime Lord, could you change the title so it actually says something about WC changes? I almost didn't read this because the title was so generic. Anyone from TNT who visits (and they do) will just skip right over instead of reading and seeing how disappointed we are.

I hate this. I hate every single new change.

Quote:
New high score tables unique to the WC. Monthly and permanent.

So? They don't seem to do anything. No trophy, not even an entry in "my scores."

Quote:
When you complete the third and final picture set, you have the option to clear all the pictures and start all over.

Yeah, that's nice, whatever, but I've completed several series one maps and I got the worst prizes ever (two bearogs, a codestone, and some 99k pbs). I make my money completing and selling maps instead -- it's guaranteed income, while the chance of a good paint brush is not. I have no interest whatsoever in converting, so this option is useless to me.

Quote:
Number of pic pieces that can be won are limited to 3 a day.

Words can not express how angry this makes me. I hate to toss around conspiracy theories like "TNT hates gamers," but seriously... why do you hate us, TNT? You have just effectively cut off my only source of any half-decent income.

Quote:
The number of games available for the World Challenges has been reduced with the most popular games always appearing and the least popolar games appearing in a limited rotation. This prevents teams from ganging up on unpopular games to get the incredibly valuable prizes from this contest with no effort.

They're all going to be "least popular" with pieces limited to three per day, TNT. Gah. And who cares if "teams" get more pieces? They're already so rare and expensive that it would be better if more were given out so they're not worth so much. If you're worried that too many people are winning pbs and prices are falling... you know, I'd rather the prizes be slightly worse and pieces be more abundant, I really would.

Also, only three pieces per day total? Not even three pieces per game? So now I basically have to choose between Faerieland and Tyrannia? HATE. Hate hate hate.

Quote:
Picture pieces are selected randomly and placed into your inventory when awarded. This prevents hoarding of a square (leaving one square open in the set so that it is always won) and cornering the market (buying up that square from the marketplace).

Once again, no it does not! Look, it's simple:

Let's say we're using the old system. I fill my entire Tyrannia picture with every piece except 2.19, because it's "the expensive one," and I earn 10 of those to sell. Am I going to be the only person doing that? No way! So piece 2.19 will drop in price naturally because of the increased supply. All pieces end up costing about the same (and this was true before).

Okay, new system. This is a real-life example here: I have earned 56 pieces of Tyrannia series 2 and not one has been 2.19. I have been unsuccessful in trading for a 2.19. If I want 2.19, I will have to buy from one of the people on the wiz who is selling. And hey, how hard is it for one person to snipe all the 2.19s on the wiz (currently not many) and sell them for exorbitant prices? Not very hard at all! And while before I didn't have to pay these hoarders because I could earn that piece on my own, now they get my NP. Thanks for helping the hoarders, TNT! I may just become one of them; it seems like the only way to make NP off World Challenges anymore. I certainly can't just win 56 more games in hopes of a 2.19, because with the three-piece change, that will take me 19 days and there's still no guarantee I'll even be able to complete my map.

I hate this. They may as well just take WCs away completely, because they have become a sad mockery of what they once were and it's just insulting.

Your wish is granted Cranberry. You got me fueled over the first change, and I was outraged over what they did with the randomness, so I knew I had to come share this with everyone else.

Your points are so dead on to. It makes me mad that they've done this, it honestly P's me off. I play this game. I MAKE MONEY FOR TNT BY PLAYING THIS GAME - WE ALL DO.

And this, this is how the freaking repay their loyals, true players? Disgusting :x:x:x.

It's pretty clear that "making a sad mockery" is what TNT is intending to do to the WC's. From the first change (pieces direct to inventory), announced with an obviously bogus explanation, you had to wonder what was really going on. It was just too easy to get a lot of nps doing world challenges, without even looking at ads.

I'm surprised that Carnival Of Terror has gone, because I've earnt lots of picture peices from it in the past, in which case there had to be at least 4 other people playing. If a game is that unpopular you just can't earn a peice from it.

I'm glad they've released a third set of pictures though, because I'm really struggling to complete the Terror Mountain one, so now I can go back to Haunted Woods where there are games I'm good at (not Carnival Of Terror anymore though :x).

Wait, I just relized something - Your total scores would roll over and continue to roll over every hour untill there was enough player. Tell me how in the hells the games don't work then?!?!?!?!??!?! :x

OK, these changes are completely messed up. I strongly disagree with most every change they've made.

Why are they crippling the WC so much, now? Have they lost their mind?

Quote:

Um, WHAT? You are now making it *EASIER* to piece hoard, AGAIN. Because you are limiting the supply of WC pieces ... it makes it harder to bring more to market, which in turns makes it easier for people to buy up every one of a single piece and jack the price up. Coupled with the silly "random piece" prize issue ... it will never balance out.

One great thing about the WC, was it gave people a chance without super fast connection to earn NPs (through restocking at the shops). Why can restockers continue to buy all the expensive items time after time after time when the main shops restock? To be fair, it seems they should be limited to buying only 3 "good" items per day. That way, they don't "team up" and "buy all the good stuff."

This suggestion, of course, makes no sense. Why put the same restriction on the WC players? If "good" restockers can enjoy limitless buying from the main shops all day ... why can't "good" gamers enjoy the same benefit from earning WC pieces? It's not like pieces are being given out 8 times every hour (i.e. the frequency of restocks in the main shops).

Once again ... this is *reducing* the supply ... and therefore making it easier for the hoarders to hoard.

This is yet even *further* reducing the supply of WC pieces that are needed to adjust the offsets made by the hoarders.

These changes *really* need to be examined.

TNT (I hope you are reading this) ... the WC was an excellent excellent idea ... you have made some great changes to make it better , and you have made some questionable changes to it that made it (in my opinion), worse. These latest changes have completely ruined the fun of the WC ... and made it pointless to even play.

There are many *good* ideas that I have heard to reduce many of the things you want to accomplish (such as ... make the map pieces untradable ... so that it become physically impossible to actually hoard them). Perhaps talking with the people who do the WC on a daily basis would be a good way of brainstorming some new ideas that accomplish what you want.

Such a simple pleasure has become complicated.

I long for the days of playing long and hard and winning a piece. I didn't win every hour, but with enough determination, I could manage a few pieces each day.

I'd play a few days a week and before you knew it, I'd have a full map to convert or sell.

I needed 2 pieces when the new changes went into effect and have won many pieces, needless to say, none of the pieces I needed. I got lucky and was able to trade for 1. Alas, the last piece elludes me.

I'm glad that they released series 3 maps, but what good is it to me if I can never get that piece and convert my series 1 map??

Just as I was accepting this new circumstance, albeit not happily, NOW you come back and limit me to 3 pieces per day?? Hmmmmm, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out it's going to be a long, long, long time until I can convert this map!!

Furthermore ...

This entire "random piece win"/"3 piece a day limit"/"maybe your game will appear" process is helping out the hoarders in another way.

Now, if I want to finish a map ... I will have to pay the premium prices of the hoarders from the shop wizard. I have to wait days and days and days until I manage to win the correct pieve I need to finish the map.

So, it is now a huge disadvantage for the "gamer" to complete maps ... only the hoarder ends up winning.

I wouldn't be shocked if WC just became dead now. With most of my favorite games gone, I don't even care about it anymore. They should have just put up a notice, "We don't like giving out free stuff, so WC is gone."

Screw this.

The thing is, they SHOULDN'T limit what games are played. And if they need to put a limit on pieces, the random piece per win OR the three pieces a day option is good. But not both. Both is just STUPID, if you don't mind me saying. -.- *tosses her chances of finishing a map out the window*

I love how their two newest games are considered popular enough to remain playable. :|

Also... Carnival of Terror is showing up as a game option for me, unless I'm looking on the wrong page. o_O

I am very very very upset by this. The one game I was good at (Igloo Garage Sale) is gone. Now all the popular games are having more people play them. The only other game I'm half good at (Typing Terror) now has heaps and heaps of people playing. Any chance of making a WC map is gone out the window :(

I absolutely hate what has been done to the WC. I'm one of those people on Neo that isn't really good at anything  But I have fun doing things on the site, mainly playing games. The WC, for a while, made playing games even more enjoyable. The new changes have completely sucked all of the fun out of the WC.

I think i quit neopets until something changes with this. Nothing interests me there any more except keeping my Mootix Drop skills high with the world challenge.

Heh, I knew you'd be angry too, Duke of Earl.

I've been thinking about this all evening and I just get angrier and angrier at the nonsensical unfairness of it all. I'd write more, but it would be full of swear words and PPT frowns on that, heh. I will say that I joined Neopets mainly for the games. I have been playing since August of 2000, and last year was the first year I had more than 10 million NP in my bank account, thanks to World Challenges. I'm not a restocker; I can't make 100k a day like many of them do. WCs were finally a way for me to earn a little money. Still not a ton, compared to the restockers -- I'll never be able to buy a 300 million NP super attack pea or even a 40 million jade scorchstone -- but a decent amount. And now even that has been ripped away from me. Sometimes I don't know how I've remained so loyal to the site through all these disappointments.
