I have a little something to say, though. Some judges were taking points off the subtexts because the words / ideas used would not necessarily be understood by everyone. I don't think this is really fair... especially because other judges were asking the contestants to use the thesaurus to find more descriptive words (which would likely be more difficult to understand). I think rarer words adds to the beauty and uniqueness of the subtext.
I know the other judges may think differently, but blah... just my opinion.
For me, just because a word is "rare" doesn't make it a perfect fit for a subtext. It still has to flow, which in some cases, some subtexts didn't do.
I think Divine knows that, but some judges choose to mark down simply because some people may not know what a word means, and I think this is a rather poor reason. If people don't know what a word means, hopefully, it'll make them interested enough to research it and expand their vocabulary. This is going to be an exaggerated example, but still get a picture of what I mean;
'Pretty flowers'
Versus
'The transcendency of tulips'
Although some people may not know what transcendency means, doesn't mean they should be marked down for it. It is much better than the first subtext.
