See, but your complaining about them NOT taking down the site for that glitch, but NOW you're complainng about them taking down the site for this glitch. That's what's frustrating. You get mad when they don't, you get mad when they do. They can't win with you (plural).

I, for one, don't believe that they just took the site down and left for the night. As a Neopian who is also a night-owl, I often play after midnight. Many, many nights during the past few months, there have been glitches, lagginess, and "down for maintenance" pages. The site usually comes back up, even if it is 2 in the morning....

.... Why... Just... why? You can't say that to me after 4 pages of people (you included) complaining about the site. They are the ones who need to be told "it's just a game". I'm not complaining about the site, I'm complaining about the people complaining about the site. Therefore, you can't even say that to me because I'm not even ranting about the site.

But, as I pointed out before, we know it's just a game, but wouldn't you be upset when something you wanted to play was down and you couldn't access it at all for hours on end?

I have to admit I agree with Moogum. I love neopets, and I'm frustrated that it's down, but it's not a big deal. I man, I might as well use my time to practice playing the games, or do something constructive.

No, it's not. Blame the nobility complex, but I always defend things I like. People here will complain, I'll argue right back.

Hmm... well we'd expect one maintenance period to fix those glitches, but five?? Come on, this is just ridiculous.

Better safe than sorry?

Also, would you go outside when it's pouring down rain??

I would. :D

Happy with Neopets

*sigh* After reading everything, I feel like I am on the site on the boards ;)

Anyway, back to the subject. The site's been up and down so many times it's enough to make a person dizzy! It is frustrating, especially on the weekend. And that may just be part of the problem. It seems (to me anyway) that alot of the "big" glitches/down time happen starting Friday night and continue until sometime Monday when staff is in. I have no idea if there is staff on the weekends or if there is how many people are there - I'm talking about the technical/programmer type of staff. I know there's mods but those are the only people I know of who definitely work on weekends.

The only thing we can do is try to be patient, though I know it's hard to do. Yep, I complain about things like this. I feel we all have the right to our opinions, and yes, sometimes complaining actually does do something positive. It's the "squeaky wheel gets the oil" theory. Enough people saying something about the same thing happening will hopefully help affect some sort of change. Even if it's simply to post candidly in the News what's going on.

For instance, the image host I use (and many others use) has been having some big problems. The owner makes a point of personally posting and updating on what's happening and sometimes literally is there working on the site 24 hours a day. How do I know this for sure? I've talked to him. Granted that site "only" has a bit over a million members -- but so far even with problems nothing has been lost to a "glitch".

It would be great if TNT would add a Site Status Update page, where we could find out what's going on with the site. A lot of major website have this type of page, and I find it most useful...

On a second note, I think that people who complain about complainers should realize that they, themselves, are complaining....

remy: You'd rather play the site and risk being affected by whatever is wrong with it, thus loosing all your hard earned NP and items... Doesn't sound like someone who loves the site.

sailor_melody: And with that post, you've made my night. Finally my words are not lost on someone. With that, I'm going to bed (unless someone responds to one of my earlier posts... I'll have to defend it if they do). I think you should all follow my example and get off the computer (unless you are in a timezone where it is still quite early... in that case, go outside!)

Sierra: It's not that I'm complaining about complainers in general, just what they are complaining about :battar:

KT obscure name: It takes two to tango. I can't start a war by myself now can I? You keep posting advice that you should be taking yourself.

Actually, my point was that they would close down whatever part of the site was having problems, so that the parts that weren't having problems would be accessible. I know of another Virtual Pet website that does this, so that's the only reason I brought it up.

And my point is that this problem obviously is affecting much more of the site than just one area, and therefore they can't close it down.

So much for going to bed.
