I think it's silly freezing people for having a blank lookup also. But I'm not sure how true that is as I've heard a few people claim thats what they were iced for, but you never know.

yep, neopets' stance towards lookup is that it must not cover the vital information for that page. for example your year shield and the yellow sidebar. it's another unwritten rule by neopets.

as a silent protest to neopet's increasing restrictive measures, i have not bothered to decorate my shop and lookup anymore. it saves lotsa unnecessary trouble, what with cover-ups, lookup stealing, fake REs...etc etc

Ok, fake RE's I can understand fully. I saw a much of people fall for fake Jacko RE's giving them Royal/ plushie, and Maraquan PB. RE's of faerie quest, actaully, Fountain Faerie asking for Magic Ghost Marshmellows.

I hate those fake REs. I've seen many people fall for them in the Neoboards. Those are good for getting banned, but what's wrong with covering your shield? Not like they can cover up their date they joined neo anyways.

Only thing I did to mine was give color to my table, a BG that's pure black, Galgarrath that stays on the right side of the screen and info bars above the table. If I get a warning for that, I will laugh.

i don't see anything wrong with those fake REs actually. how can players scam with those? they are mostly jokes anyway.
edit: as for those shields, i heard that by covering the shield, some scammers can cause their victims to let down their guard or something if they can't see that it's a newbie account. not everyone is cautious enuff to check the "date joined" info.

Just annoying when you see a bunch of "OMG Fountian Faerie want teh Ghost thingies! Shop NOW!!" O.o Sure they don't scam, but they're kinda annoying. Maybe it's just me...oh well.

Well, I think that those are really annoying...But anyhowm Maybe they aren't worth the time to report, because, no one is listening to them, anyway...

I don't think they like you to cover up your bar, header, and shield, another unwritten rule, although I love your lookup

As far as I know, they (TNT) do not really like shields covered if it covers the amount of time you've been on the site. Used to be ok to have a complete custom shield, but apparently not anymore. People with blank lookups or lookups that hide their user stats? I've seen plenty get warned/lookups cleared and frozen. Why? You can thank the scammers who try to make their lookup look like TNT's account and neomail people with fake warnings to get their passwords.

I think it's the same reasoning that pet description coding was changed - people were putting different pictures over the real pet pic and putting up fake stats. Mostly a bd issue I think?

Disabling links on your lookup, though why you'd want to do that is beyond me, will get you warning and cleared lookup too. That warning says bad html - I know someone who got that one.

The yellow sidebar thing, well I have custom sidebars on all my lookups (and the ones I have as premades for people to use) and have no problem. The only reason I can think is I don't make those really long ones that cover the username, pet, np, search, link to us section. Mine stop where the normal clickable menu does - at Logout. And I make sure all the links work and are lined up properly.

I do use banners and I've never heard of anyone having a banner cleared just "because". That may be a case of using some code (don't know it) so that somehow your banner won't move, thus preventing people from seeing New Events. If there's a new event on my lookup, it "drops" my banner so the event shows up. I do not cover shields, pet pics, etc., I only use the opacity code that removes the white from around those.

Fake Events and Flash Lookups, in my opinion, should be banned. The fake things, yeah, most of us know they're fake, but a new person wouldn't think to refresh the page or whatever. I just don't like those things anywhere - lookup, shop, pet description. And the animated flash lookups? Can you say seizure? I've literally fallen off my chair seeing one of those things.

I kind of self-taught myself whatever css and html I know by searching the internet, getting a free website and just started playing around. I didn't find out about petpage csshelp for months. By then I had the basics pretty much down (though I can mess up royally sometimes!), but I do recommend that page for people all the time.
