Ive tried this about 10 times while making my way to the Basement, and every time Im able to click a smeared circle three times, (since I had a lamp placed last) it unsmears :/ Usually Im only able to click twice, before getting the 'stolen' message. I cant see the pattern as to why sometimes I can click three times and see the unsmeared chalk line, and sometimes it doesnt work.
So, if I understand this right, on our way out of the repository, after placing a piece of furniture, we need to click on the blurry shapes of the piece we just placed to try to make them go back solid?
Yes, thats right. I was on my way in to check the theory when I tried it, not going out, if it matters. And I recently was just able to 'reset' a scroll rack, so Im doubting whether it needs to be the piece you just placed or not.
I think whether it works depends on when the item was last stolen. I reset a lamp area in the basement, then somebody put a lamp on it, and it was stolen a second later. When I went to re-reset the area, it wouldnt work and I got the 'stolen; message. Its still theory. Could be a big coincidence.

Home in time to move furniture then sleep. Found out the hard way that dialup and furniture moving sometimes doesn't mix. Nor does a fit of sneezes while playing Word Pyramid while hand is on the mouse.
Is anyone having a hard time placing furniture on the chalk outlines with dial-up? I keep getting the message that furniture has been stolen when I try double clicking the chalk.

You need to outlines that are solid, not blurry, if you click on blurry outlines it will tell you that the furniture has been stolen. It is possible that it is being placed and stolen in the process of you clicking with a slow connection too.

To late again has all the furniture been moved?

Don't believe so. Last I checked we were all running around in circles with the furniture being continually stolen.

Well, I'm out for the night. About a dozen, easily more, pieces placed. Just want to say smurf thieves one last time. If they stop by my Neohome, I'd take back all the bad stuff I've said. Bene fortuna placing the furniture. Remember: it wasn't the foreman at the repository. It was the second foreman on the grassy knoll.

DO NOT worry about whether or not they are solid, click on all you can, if you still choose to be a furniture-mover.

The first one I ever got secured was clicked on a blurry space.

Okay, if I click on a spot and it says the furniture has been stolen, does that mean the piece that was there beforehand, or the one I'm holding? I don't want to go all the way back out for a second piece if i'm still holding the first, but i don't want to stand here looking like (more of) an idiot, trying to place a lamp i'm not carrying

The one that was there beforehand I believe.

Okay, so the current theory is to keep clicking a spot until it takes your piece of furniture, then click every blurry outline matching your last piece on the way out? (just to clarify)

I found clicking blurry spots to be a waste of time. Rather I moved to the points of the floor that were furthest away and looked in the rooms on either side for a non-blurry outline of what I needed. But, I suppose that's entirely up to you, whatever you find works faster for yourself.

It doesnt have to be the last piece you laid. I laid down a lamp last time, and Im clicking tons of blurry scroll rack lines in the basement, and its working.

The quickest way that I have found to place items is to click on a blurry spot for your peice, then keep refreshing untill you get the 'You have successfully placed your peice' message. It took me less than 15 minutes to place 2 tables and 1 bench on the first floor. It seems that the prices are either stolen or not blurred every 30 seconds, with about a 5 minute wait between peice their and being able place a piece again.
