I know how to do this the hard way.. Layer by layer.. Anyone know a formula to do all the layers at once?

no it isnt. its a pyramid. that means that the blocks will have part of the other blocks on top of it covered. but it doesnt tell you how much. the blocks arent just stacked edge to edge. its a missing varyable. and since we need to give the amount for the exposed blocks. its impossible because of that.

I just assumed that each successive layer was centered on top of the previous layer. But it really doesn't matter. The answer should come out the same regardless.

There is no variable as it is defined in the question thus:
The base of the pyramid is 100 blocks by 100 blocks; each successive layer is one less block wide and deep, until the top layer which is simply one block. Each block is 97 cm wide by 97 cm deep by 63 cm tall

Ok, I admit it. I asked my aunt about it. She figured it out for me and she's 90% sure about the answer. I hate maths... :P

Hint: even number

I think I might've gotten it, I looked up a way to get the answere in one of my math books(Pre-cal.)
I got a four digit answere too, so I can only sit and cross my fingers, and hope I did it right. >_<

Anyone know how to quickfill in Microsoft Excel?

ex.

A =100*100
B =99*99
C =98*98

then quickfill all the way down to =1*1.

I wonder how a solid pyramid could be a fitting storehouse for anything besides the blocks that compose it, but I guess that part really doesn't matter.
