Musical theatre is freakin' awesome.

I've seen a number of musicals when they've come here on tour. I saw Little Shop of Horrors and Movin' Out this year. I've got season tickets to the Hobby Center for this season, so I'll be seeing Evita, Wicked, Annie, The Lion King, and some other musical I've not heard of. I've also seen a number of musicals at the International Thespian Festival this year and last. Also, I saw The Phantom of the Opera when I was, like, 6.

I haven't been in any musicals myself. I was cast as Lt. Schrank in our school's production of West Side Story a couple years ago, but that never got performed, sadly. Hopefully I'll get to be in whatever musical we do this school year.

I also plan on seeing the Rent movie about a million times when it comes out. :D

Oh, and Little Shop of Horrors is probably my favorite musical of all time. I saw it multiple times when it was done at our school (I was failing 3 classes at the time of auditions, unfortunately. I'd make a good Seymour...) and I've watched the movie about a thousand times, both the musical and the original Roger Corman film. In fact, I'm gonna listen to the cast recording now!

Wheee!

Ohhhh....

<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Musical theatre is my life. Literally.

I've seen Wicked, Lion King, Cats, Hairspray, Fiddler on the Roof, Crazy for You, Annie, Oliver, Hello Dolly, Avenue Q, Thoroughly modern Millie, Mama Mia, West Side Story, South Pacific, Once upon a Mattress, The Pajama Game, Music Man, and I;m sure there are plenty others I'm not thinking of. (most of those were high school things though, but I only included the VERY high-qulaity ones.)

I've been in Oliver, Cats and...that's it. Lots of plays, but only 2 musicals.

I've got a few pictures from Oliver, lt me see if I can find them...Ech, can't right now. Will post them if I find them.

I've been in a few musicals... mainly Carousel (two-liner), Guys and Dolls (Harry the Horse), Oliver (Mr. Bumble), Brigadoon (Jeff), Fiddler on the Roof (Perchik), Forever Plaid (Voiceover), and Thumbelina (Toad's son/Fairy King). There're also those improv singing scenes for National Comedy Theatre.

I remember during Oliver, I had a cane for a prop. It was basically a wooden ball hot-glued to a long dowel. The only problem was, it kept coming apart... so every night before the performance, it would have to be hot glued back together... and every night, the ball would slip, and I would get hot glue all over my hands. It's hard to sing when you're palm is scalding

The best roll was Jeff McDouglas in Brigadoon though. Why? Because it was a lead in a musical... that didn't involve singing!!! Although there is the part in the play where he puts on plaid trousers. Our director decided to hand-sew said trousers. They were painful.

Here's some pics of my friend Phil and I during Brigadoon (I'm in the yellow):

Let's see, In high school I was in... Sound of Music, Oklahoma, Seven Brides for Seven Sisters, Wizard of Oz, Godspell and a few others that I'm too lazy to go pull my year book and look for (hey it's been 20 years .... geez has it been THAT long!!) I also saw Jesus Christ Superstar last summer when it traveled through Atlanta Georgia. Awesome performance!

My oldest daughter (who is a Music major in college) played the Mother Superior in a musical called "Nunsense" and for those who are familiar with the play she did an AWESOME job of acting high when the Mother Superior accidently sniffed the bottle of some "mystery" drug. She's normally a very serious girl so all her friends were amazed when she acted so high & silly!! She was also in the show Godspell and she sang the same duets that I had except for the opposite part (she sang Soprano and I sang alto) so we could rehearse together when it was time for her to perform. THAT was great fun.

When I was in High School we also had a "local" performing group that always had big name stars that performed with them and every friday during the summer they always performed musicals (especial Rogers & Hammerstein). I was able to see soooo many big names (well big at the time!) sing that it was just an awesome time in my life.

Anyway, I too LOVE any musical theater and only wish I had time to see/and or perform in more productions! I sing every Sunday in my church's Praise Team band so that's the closest I get to being on stage right now! - BUT I LOVE IT!!!!!

I've been to see Miss Saigon, Fame (in London) and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (in London), Whistle Down the Wind and Annie.

I haven't been in many shows as I can't sing for toffee. I've played Graziella in a modern adaptation of West Side Story, Frenchy in Grease and I've danced in Bugsy Malone and Hairspray.

I wish I could sing so I could do more! Before leaving school for college, I found out that our school was going to put on Fame as a production and I was going to be cast as Iris.... Oh well. :P

Maureen loves musical theatre.

I have seen Rent, Wicked, and Evita on stage. I've seen the Evita movie about 43 times. I'll probably see the Rent movie 43 times. This year, our school is durning Urinetown, which I love. I think it's hilarious how I'm the only person in my drama class who obsesses over it. I'm planning on auditioning for that, which would be my first play if I get cast.

My school did Honk two years ago, Fiddler on the Roof for One Acts last year, and we'll be doing Guys and Dolls this year. I've never seen anything very big live......

I would absolutely love to. Some friends of mine saw Wicked, and some other ones saw Phantom, and I am so jealous.

Our plays this year were/are Blithe Spirit, Sarah Plain and Tall, and Wizard of Oz as a one act.

Honk is great. Our local theatre did it last spring and I went to go see it because I knew almost half the cast.

I've seen Blood Brothers, it's not very musical, but I thought it was awesome anyways. And the songs (two of them, if I remember correctly), were nuts. Stuck in my head for weeks.

I was in Stomp for a three week stint, that was fun. But I feet killed after it.

I'd like to see/be in more musicals. Alas, I can barely put my voice to tune. When we put on Godspell, I was a stagehand. I could be found singing along incessantly.

--

If anyone's heard of A Murder in Air, Im Holden Gunn for a show we're putting on. it's not a musical, but I think they're putting a song in for a couple of the smaller roles.

Oh, and I've got tickets for the Lord of the Rings Musical coming to Toronto in February, looks good. Great way for me to burn 120.00 bucks, I hope it's worth it.

---

RENT! YES RENT!
I've saved about 50 bucks for RENT, which I intend on seeing an unhealthy amount of times. I'm actually paying for my friends today (we bought advance tickets), and buying three more for me tomorrow.

Haha, geddit? Today for you, tomorrow for me!

*nerd*

Since you're posting your Brigadoon shots, I figured I'd throw mine up. This was back when I was in grade twelve so 3 or 4 years back.

I'm the dude in the middle going for the high note. I played Charlie Dalrymple which was a good, solid, fun part.

Haha, Dan, lovely, you're worse than me! :P

I got the soundtrack for the Phantom movie - I wanted the broadway one, but this one was a good amount less expensive.
