You don't have to pay anything to switch your shop over to a gallery. Your shop size will just be reset to 1. If you weren't being obnoxious and using your gallery as a shop, I don't see how that's an issue.

Galleries - yes, that we can now have separate galleries is wonderful. I know I'd been writing in for the last couple of years asking for such a thing. However, not everyone wants, is willing to or can afford to start up again with the cost of shop/gallery size increases. Like, my old gallery (now long gone) held over 300 items. Might not seem big to some, but to me it was insane just paying for 5 extra spaces. So, I don't think it would be fair to suddenly say to people who've had galleries forever that they have to move it all to the new gallery option. Yes it can be annoying when you're searching the wiz, but ... there's more inflation if people have to put out large amounts of np, then have a shop that's pretty much empty if they aren't restockers/resellers.

You know, there is an option to transform your shop into a gallery, keeping all your old coding, upgrades and items. Then all you have to do is re-open a shop. And if you don't intend on making it any larger than size 10 or so, this shouldn't be too big a deal.

EDIT: Huggles beat me to it :P

The problem with limiting the number of rare items one can restock is that not all rare items are worth a lot. There are a bunch of rare items that are worth little, especially the species weapons and in food. I'm not sure about the other shops, but there are probably cheap rares in others, too. I don't think limiting rares would help unless there was a way to distinguish true rares that are worth a bunch from cheap rares that are worth little.

I'm not that experienced at elite-level economy gaming in neopets. It seems to me that the major problem discussed here is just rising demand, either in the form of demand spikes from events such as avatars or wars, or the increasing general game-wide inflation as Neopets gains members, which causes restocking to become more and more profitable while NPP stores don't adjust their prices for inflation.

I'm putting out the idea of eliminating inflation again (see last post of first page); I'd like to see if people think that'll help at all.

I don't exactly know if this would help the economy, but the whole shop wiz deal should be easier, in terms of knowing you've found the absolute lowest price on the wiz. I think that when you initially hit "search," the page that it opens on should be random, but if you start refreshing it would cycle through the pages in order. So if you started on the page with the G names(and whatever else is on that page, I'm too lazy to look it up), then when you refreshed you'd be on the H names, and so forth. The way it's set up now, you can refresh for ages before you've seen all the prices.
Paint Brush (and similar) random events should be way more common. In the more than four years that I've been on Neopets, I've gotten a PB ONCE, probably three months after I'd signed up. Maybe there should be like a 1/100 chance of getting them when you collect the monthly freebies thingy, for five or six months.
Trading Post = Bad. I don't like it, because it's too easy to get scammed, and it makes artificial inflation really easy as well. I know some people like it, but I wouldn't mind if it disappeared entirely. So yeah, I agree with raising the price limit in shops.

The trading post has the advantage of allowing you to trade hard-to-sell items without the exchange of cash. If I want to get rid of a "The Three Poster," and want a "Red Lupe Lunchbox," then I know that if I can find someone who wants the three, then the thing is set.

The TP DOES need to have the cash limit raised though. I understand that the theoretical purpose of the limit is to limit the chances of a scammer getting all of your cash. However, most people who are scammed don't have 800k to their names, or 600k. I don't mind a limit, but I think it should be closer to 1.5 mil or 2 mil than it is now.

I agree, shapu. Right now a lot of things sell for 1-2 million, and it's annoying having to contact the seller, say you want the item, get them to put it up for auction (and often neofriend you so you can do a NF-only auction), wait however long the auction takes, etc. They should raise the TP limit to at least 2 mil.
