They have been cracking down on autobuyers the last couple of days. And they obviously don't care that innocent people get targeted too. Funny, since shroomy says in the "misconceptions" thread that they don't use bots to freeze.. yeah right.

Not surprising, really. I'm still waiting for a response from Neopets regarding a spare account of mine. Four weeks and counting... I wish you luck on getting a response (and hopefully a positive one) from TNT.

oops...i was frozen for exactly the same reason 2 years ago. i hate to break this to you but....99% of the players...no..make that 100% of the players who got frozen with reason stated "using an autobuyer" would never get their account back. they seem to have a pretty strong confidence in their ability to catch autobuyers. this source of confidence still remains largely a mystery i have been trying to solve. i have even mailed them abt it but they remain quiet on this issue. i hope you prove me wrong and if you luckily manage to get a reprieve, i would dearly love to see how you convince them, something which i had not been able to in my 6 mths of email "campaign" to TNT

He could've done something by accident, but how could he have accidently used an autobuyer or make them think so? Plus, tons of people (like me) have been wrongly frozen, so he could've been too.

ANd when I sent in my parental permission thin back when I was 12, It took months for them to give me all of the rights of the normal accounts. I faxed it so I thought it was gonna be fast, but it wasn't.

Hmm, you just gotta be careful. Did you ask him if he used any programs someone told him to use? It's possible.

All that you had to do was enter the old magic code link and as long as you were logged into neopets, they instantly froze you. Yes, they DO use bots to freeze people, and whatever that other "neo" person posted in the other thread was NOT true at all.

Osmium: That seems right. because the day he got frozen was the day they were changing the codes to add numbers. did anyone else spot this? Made life very difficult for someone whos slow at typing being able to restock. Gr!

Shoyru_Lover: Yes we did, but as far as we can tell he did not, the only web sites he really goes on are neopets and hotmail. Doesn't really care for the internet all that much other wise.

tonu_revived: hmmm thats what is getting me wound up, the fact of the matter is I personally have never seen an Auto buyer, dont know how to get one or how to program one, my bf's 9 year old brother certainly won't know how to get one or use one.
He thinks typing Jelly in and getting to the jelly world is cheating lol, an auto buyer is a little beyond him, though I have warned him now about such things and after this little episode he's clearly never going to touch anything of the sort.

I started playing too when I was about 13, year 8 at high school, but back then we didn't have to send off for parental permission, that was like 6 years ago now. ek! feels like a right old codger.

Mystique: Its sad but true and I have told him not to hold out for his account back. So at the moment him and his brother are sharing and he's loving it because my bf has so many more neopoints.

dissident: I've always thought they did use bots, never thought for a second that they used anything else to moniter such things as neomails and games etc. This was why I thought we could argue his account back, though I now figure he may be better off without.

I have to agree on the fact that bots are used for freezing, both on games and boards (looking for certain words even when used innocently).

The only thing I can think of, as osmium wrote, is that entering the old code - like if they were in the middle of changing the code over to the new one and hadn't gotten to all of the shops. You go to that shop, type in the code that appears, but since it's the old one, the bots for ab'ers picks that up and BAM you're frozen.

So this is sounding like another sync/server/database/program glitch/error.

That's the only argument I can offer you for this. And I'm very sorry this happened. You're not the first people I've seen posting that they've been frozen for using an ab when they most definitely did not.
