After Twinkle invited me to the help chat ont he neoboards, I think I may be hooked. But in only 2 days, I've seen the most of the "first post gets 66k" posts, and along that type. Not only is that a scam, and against the rules, but everyone falls for it. Even people that have been around longer than me (I've been around 38 months). I have friends from the neoboards, and one girl, whom is also my age (12), neomailed me and I replied with the following:

Me wrote:
Yes. I say...why is it us 12 year olds are smarter than the 16 year olds?

And her reply:

Her wrote:
I don't know...maybe b/c there going into audlthood....

I mean...most neoboarders are over 13 due to the parental permission thing (my dad broke down and signed it 3 months after I signed up, I was only 9 at the time.), and they use chatspeak, fall for scams, beg...WHY? WHY, NEO, WHY?

OK, rant and John Mayer slight song quoting is over now.

Hmmm I'm on HC a lot and really, 95% is begging and scams. It's worth it though if you can help out the 5% that actually have a legitimate question.

I'm with AtomicBlonde. Never in my life have I seen such a off topic board. It makes the Newbie/Other World boards look angelic.

I love the HC, even if it is to laugh at the beggers and the nasty people who think they should report everything. I have some amazing screenies.

This took the mick.

I know it's a genuine question but at 10 months?!

I'm not sure if this is appropriate considering it was a typo but it made me chuckle mightly, poor girl was so embarrassed. (If it's too risky, mods please remove) Yoshi edit: Uh, yeah. :P

See what DM and I mean?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/ ... eenie5.png

Some people are just plain daft on there....

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/ ... eenie6.png

... and then you've got the desperate liars.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/ ... eenie7.png

Oh don't forget your guilt trip beggers.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/ ... eenie9.png

And the impersonators. You usually get Hilary Duff but I screenied this one as Emma Watson is a rare breed.

Welcome to the HC people. :P

You know what, I think we should all put "I'm a PPTer and proud!" in our Neo siggies so we can spot (and support!) each other!

EDIT: Just seen a board saying "You get a pb if ur bday is on 31st nov". The amount of idiots trying to convince everyone that they were born on a non-existant day was unbelievable.

I go on the help chat all the time, and not EVERYONE there is a drooling Neanderthal. Sure, there are plenty of people so stupid they must drag their knuckles on the ground when they walk, but you can't say the whole place is bad based on a few idiots.

It's a shame, really. I used to basically live on the HC, and it was a great place especially late night. So many of us knew each other! We helped people, chatted, holidays or birthdays were the best. And occasionally one person would be chosen to be pelted with random gifts with no advance warning.

But we did help as many people as we could. There weren't as many warnings, freezings, etc. Yes, there were spammers, beggers and attention seekers (sounds like a bad take on a Cher song), but they were the minority and were taken care of quickly.

This was before the Report This Message was added (big mistake, IMHO. People suddenly became the nana police). And then they got rid of General Chat. Now I understand why they got rid of it, but didn't anyone think that all that stuff would end up on all the other boards?

Just be patient, count to 10 if there's alot of garbage on the board and if it gets to be too much, just leave. Don't argue. Just "walk" away.

I just thought of something stupid. They should bring back General Chat, but change the description to "If you want to break the Neoboard rules, post in here." and then they can just go about freezing everyone that posts in there...
It's a nice thought anyway ;P

That topic that was "bang your head on the keyboard..." I have a screenshot of an identical one on the jelly world chat.
But sadly unlike this one, there was replies on the one I saw. I think like 10 + replies of stuff like pf'dg;pzdg

Seems to be a lot of pointless topics there too.

*sigh* Believe it or not, the 95% crap posts used to be the very outnumbered majority. Then a new moderator came and froze 90% of the HC regulars :(

tdg, thanks for reminding me of that :( I remember that, it was just ... hideous. Those of us who were regs and hadn't been warned or frozen all basically went into heavy lurk/hiding mode. HC hasn't been the same since.

Of course, that seems to happen from time to time in the BD too, from what I've seen. It's almost a cycle ... OT, fun stuff is tolerated and people relax and have fun, then a few people decide to really bend the rules and next thing you know a bunch of Bd'ers are suddenly gone. They can't ALL be ab'ing, can they? That seems to be the big reason, I guess because so many do rs.

Lurking is a wonderful thing, much harder to get in trouble if you don't post or post much.

I believe she's saying besides that:

I know that but even the nice ones have a streak of cynicism. I've made a couple of friends on there but I mainly lurk.
