May I ask what your username begins with - I've got a bit of research of my own to do

My username on Neo is calvinorion, just like it is here.

I've actually tried selling some of my low priced bakery goods from one of my side accounts that happens to start with an H. Just to see if they sold any faster. I am still undecided about the results.

Two groups really stick out. The AN group came up 15 times while the FS group only appeared 2 time.

Of course 100 refreshes isn't nearly a big enough sample to be that accurate but I plan on continuing my research the next time I am really bored. It's interesting to note though that in atomicblonde's test the FS group only come up twice there as well.

I think it's fairly random to be honest - and of course due to murphy's law whichever page you are on is the one that comes up least!

A,N and F,S come up far more often for me than anything else usually along with M's and H's. Mine (G,T) takes ages for me to get usually, heh.

I agree with the first part but also I think that your username sector deliberately doesn't show up too often :)

Almost the entire time I am playing Neo, I am on the shop wiz looking for and selling neggs, faeries, map pieces. Pretty much all I do. Here is what I have noticed.

Contrary to what someone said here earlier, the shop wiz line does not go strictly by alphabetical order. It goes by order of price first, then alphabetical order. So, anyone selling at 999 comes before anyone else selling at 1000. However, aaa selling at 999 does come before abc selling at 999.

So, the first thing you need to do is to make sure you are the very first shop shown on your line--within reason, of course. Say that I am selling a negg and the average price of it is 2800. However, the lowest person on my line is 2500. I am not going to price mine at 2499. Instead, I am going to buy all of those on my line up to the 2800 mark and then price mine at 2800. That is how profit is made.

Next, not only do you need to be lowest on your shop wiz line, but you also need to be approximately the lowest for all of the entire 13 lines. The pricing on some lines is almost always way out of range than the rest of the prices on the shop wiz. I don't know why that is, but it seems consistent with about just every item I have looked for. Those lines are the e/r, h/u, and i/v lines. If you are on those lines, you really need to make sure that your prices are comparable with other lines. Just because the lowest price for your item is 50K on your line does not mean that it will sell--particularly if every other line has it listed at 35K.

Then, once you have put something in your shop, you need to check it and recheck it to make sure another person with 50 of the same item doesn't decide to price their item 1 np lower than you. Because your item will sit and never sell if that is the case. Particularly if that person is a dealer in that particular item. I know this to be oh so true. Because I have a nasty evil wench on my line. Whenever, I decide to sell neggs, she will buy 10 or so of those same neggs from other people and price each of them 1 np lower than mine. Yes, she is just that nasty. So, mine sit and sit and sit. I now have her shop bookmarked--so I can check her prices against mine constantly. Luckily for me, she has curtailed her playing quite a bit.

Finally, there are some lines that seem to come up more often than others. I see the d/q line a lot; same with the j/w line. However, I haven't done any real research on it. My stuff sells so I don't really think too much about it.

Is there any way you can make the shop wizard results more fair? It is absolutely impossible for certain groupings of names to be shown. Out of 100 refreshes, the page containing my shop came up only twice while others came up 30 or more. This makes it very difficult to sell things, and I would hate to have to abandon this account and create a new username because of this. I would really appreciate if you looked into it!
Thanks for your time!

My username starts with an s. Maybe if you're also having this problem, dropping a note to TNT might bring it to their attention. Unfortuantely, I don't have any ideas about how to fix it yet. :(

My username starts with an "S" and I'm fine.

It seems to me one of two things is happening-
Either people are getting wise and trying to price their items double or triple what the other lines do, or they're simply uninformed, and believe that they have one of the lower prices for the item.

Like, some items can be searched and found for 40k on the bottom of one list, then, for about 8k on the bottom of another list.

I don't like the way this is (apparently) being exploited.

I'm sure it's more specific than just the first letter. I remember an article on PPT on this and what the pages are but i don't remember anything about frequency

My username starts with an "S" and I'm fine.

I honestly don't think people are exploiting that on purpose. It just appears for some reason that some lines don't have many sellers on them. I noticed it right after they did the shop wiz change. There are hardly any sellers--of anything, mind you--on the i/x line. My daughter is on that line and cannot figure out why the lowest price on her line is 25K when every other line is 10K. Perhaps, there used to be a lot of people with user names that started with i and they are no longer around--quit the game, frozen? Maybe all of the ilove__, iam___, iwant___ usernames were the most popular type to first be created. And, now many of them are no longer active. I can't think of any other logical reason.

One other thing that I would like to point out. I think whether your item sells also has a lot to do with what you are selling. I have no problem whatsoever selling my easy-to-sell items, whether they are on my main g/t account or my secondary j/w account, but my rarity 98 and 99 foods have sat for months--even though they are the lowest price of all 13 lines. There is just more demand of some things than others. I have found that the easiest things to sell are bottled faeries, one and two dubloon coins, the plainer neggs that are under 6K, the cheaper food shop foods like milkshakes, and the more common petpets.

If you don't mind my asking, Morningstar, how does that work?

Do you mostly surf the wiz looking for specific items that are at a lower-than-average price, then sell?

Do you find that prices change at different times of the day or week? I remember I went on an avatar kick about a month back, bought some
(buyable) avatar items late at night (say, 11-12pn NST) for the lowest on the Wiz, then priced them in my shop for more than I'd paid for them. Not much more, granted, but more. All of them were gone when I got up the next day, which makes me wonder if prices are lower in the wee hours when fewer people are on. I wonder if a night owl like me could make a profit buying late at night and then selling the next day?

As far as avatar items go, what I've seen is you have to be really fast in knowing just what the item is then go and wiz snipe. Then price in your shop a little higher than the cheapest price.

The few times I've actually had an avi item, that's what I've done.

I have to say, I really do NOT like the new shop wiz system. It's a royal pain when you're trying to price items for your own shop and can take forever if you're looking for something to buy. Many times I'll get the same page 3 or 4 times in a row. And yes, I am waiting for the page to completely load. Plus, it's much easier to get wiz banned now since you do have to refresh alot more.

I'm in M, my shop seems to come up about 1 in every 10 to 15 refreshes. I know I'm not selling the way I used to, not even close since they split things up into 13 categories.

My name starts with a T and I'm doing fine. Well usually I post my items really cheap. Li all codestones for 2.5k or yesterday I put a spookymap piece for 5k. S I guess it doesn't really matter what your name starts with.

A few random thoughts...

If you are trying to make money from being low on the shop wiz, consider making certain that you always have multiples of your item. I used to be a low wiz seller (user name starts with c so prices were always low). Now, I'm in a mall and I restock using the wiz. I need to buy items in multiples/ I have a target price for each item I want to buy. Let's say I want a blue lupe plushie and don't want to spend more than 600 NP for it. I go to a block of shops and the lowest is 800. I will go to the next block. It looks likes this:

AAAAA Blue Lupe Plushie 1 450
BBBBB Blue Lupe Plushie 1 500
CCCC Blue Lupe Plushie 4 545

I will buy from CCCC in most instances because I can buy multiples in that shop all within my target price.

Another thing is to consider what you are selling. Low cost quest items sell best. I sell toys and chocolates. Those dark or mint chocolates look really nice sitting in the shop but take a long time to sell. The plain plushies sell very quickly.

Mine starts with a "B" It seems rare for me too. I notice some come up more than others, but I think that whatever page your on will appear the least. I could be wrong, but it seems to be the case.

As far as things go, my stuff gets bought evenually. Sometimes I've even found it cleared out.

I'm surprized how many people buy my omlettes priced at 80 np.

Maybe it's that I chat on the boards or the slight fame I have in the beauty contest? o_O
