Jin nodded, her blue hair falling over her eyes as she dropped her hand back to her side, then looked up at the sky, making sure that the hawk wasn't after her. "Just some crises with a hawk trying to eat me..." she murmurs then looks back down, lowering her head levelly, looking at the boy's face. "Might I ask why you came after my scream?" she asks, raising a brow. "Nobody is up this early and it's not the middle of the night..." she points out, pointing to the dimming sky that was going into the early morning sun's grasp...

The gryphon jumped from her master's shoulder, looking the girl over. She made as to venture closer, but Isaac clicked his tongue, almost like a bird clacking it's beak. The gryphon nodded, and returned to sit next to his feet. "Manardi and my self are not like normal people - that is why we are awake at such an hour. Night is the time when many are in danger, and it is my duty to protect those people." At this point, he bowed, and said "I am Sir Isaac of Rune. Might I ask who you are?"

Jinna looked in fear as the gryph came close and held her breath. She let out a relieved sigh as it returned to it's master's feet. She looked it over now, then him, her ears twitching. "Jinnapher. Um, not really from anywhere..." she murmurs at him, then looks over him, putting her hands on her hips. "And I think I can fend for myself. I have done it for the last 13 years of my life. Thanks for worrying, but alas, I don't need anyone to worry about me." she said with a stern face, really not needing his help...

An odd smile played at the corners of his mouth. "You have to excuse my...aid. It is how I am. But, I must say, I am glad to have found someone willing to look after themselves."

One of her blue eyebrows raised. "Well..That's nice. If you'll excuse me, I have stray cats to befriend..." she says and nods, turning and walking away slowly. She bends down and picks up a small pure black cat, cradling it in her arms. She looks back to Isaac and rolls her eyes. She continues to walk with the cat, purring and meowing to it, as if talking

Isaac clicked his tongue at Manardi and the gryphon lauche ditself into the sky. It circled, but it was hard to see against the raising sun. It's master watched her for a moment, then turned, walking away from the girl. About him the scent of slightly burning flesh could be smelt, and his eye color flashed from blue to red, but only so slightly, so one could not see it if they were not watching for it.

Jinna looked back at Isaac, her delicate nose picking up the smell. "Why do you smell that way?" she asks, still holding the cat. She set the cat on her shoulder, and smiled softly as the cat looked at Isaac also. "This is Alice, my friend. She also wants to know.."

Isaac looked over his shoulder at both girl and cat. An odd red welt - as if a chain of red hot intesity - could be seen on his neck. Below that, a silver chain hung from his neck, and that was what caused the smell. His eyes turned red again, this time holding the color for almost a whole minute, and the boy's face twisted with pain.

Jinapher went to Isaac and unclipped the necklace, keeping her eyes on him. "If this is what is causing it, don't have it!" she exclaims and keeps it in her hand, even though her face was twitching gently from the pain it was causing her hand, smelling burning meat. She quickly throws it into a puddle, watching it hiss and steam come up from the puddle. She inspects her hands then Isaac. "What are you doing here anyways?" she asks, picking burnt skin off her hand

"No!" Isaac yelled as the small chain and pendant fell to the ground. He lunged at it, quickly clipping it back on. The chain burned horribly, but it was one of only two things left of the only person he had ever loved. Isaac sat there on his knees for a few minutes, as the pain dulled, and the time between the olor change in his eyes became less and less frequent. He glowered at the girl. "Never ever do that, least you want to be facing a demon!" he said through gritted teeth. "As for my buisness here, that is no buisness of yours."

Glares at him, her eyes tinting with orange and blue. "I was just trying to help." She said slowly, her voice tense, her teeth also gritted. "And I just wanted to know, jeeze!"

*Something knelt on the roof above.
Something small.
Something easily missed.
Something knelt there, a mere shadow in the night, eyes leaving no shine in the starlight - mere specks in blackness, like the gleam off the windows of an abandoned house. That something's form was somewhat hidden... a mass of tangled hair fell at the right side of its face, and enormous wings spread behind. A small voice escaped it, easily unheard by those in the alley.

"Spirits be saved, home be unrent.

But one creature heard this voice, the gryphon Manardi. She sang out a bittersweet tune, which was nothing in the common tongue, but in the tongue of gryphons it was

For beneath the earth sheets,
Far from the ashes of old,
Laying on a bed of wood,
Gone for all, gone for all.

The gryphons that fell
To protect Rune,

Isaac's pointed ears heard this song, for he knew it well. It was the gryphon's dirge, understood by few, and he among those few.

*And yet - the small something did not hear, or if it did, it did not understand. No -- it stood, still chanting. Exactly what it was doing was not apparent in the night.*
