I wholeheartedly concur with this idea. There should be a separate board for set contests and giveaways, while the PPT games like Werewolf etc and other word games in another board. This would make things much more organised, IMO, and I don't see how it would create more work for moderators.

The werewolf games could go to the RPG board since they are kinda an RPG that would clear a few things up.

That would make me happy because then the RPG board would get more active. ^.^ *Pokes it's half living form* :( LIVE!

Werewolf contains such a disturbingly large amount of spam that it would be very unreasonable to put it in RPG.

The last one easily raked up 17 pages a day.

well i really don't keep up with it, although I have been thinking of tring to join the next one if there is one. Besides if it was moved to RPG board then of course people would have to mind their manners a bit more. I belive that could be done.

I mean basicly it IS an RPG, just a very specific one with a stated limit on time....right?

Werewolf belongs in NNV though, because though it is a RP, it's also a forum game, besides, NNV is meant to be the home of so called "pointless RPs" (things like the PPT Prom, etc.)

The No Nutritional Value board is home to:
Set contests
Giveaways
Forum Games
Pointless RPs

If the old subboard hack were to be reinstated, I think it would be a wonderful idea to split the board up into at least two different boards; one for contests, another for pointlessness. I follow one or two threads in the board, and it's amazing how quickly they fall. It's an extremely active board with guidelines that are too broad (i.e., too many different things belong in there). I think it would actually be easier for moderators to manage if it were split up.

It technically isn't an RPG, very few people really RP when playing it. It is meant as a game, not an RP.

I didn't like the whole subforum implementation on the last forum actually. I mean, for a while it was neat because it was new, but I think it was maybe the way it works or looked in the main page that I didn't find attractive. I don't know but perhaps it's too much of a hassle tech wise to be important, specially if it's mainly one board. If that's the type of subforum you guys are referring to, I don't think it's a total necessity. It could benefit from some sort of organization and some of the ideas here I don't think are bad. Perhaps making an extra board with things like contests only that doesn't add to your post count would really unclogged some of it, I don't know.

Is it possible to simply divide it into two seperate boards? Not sub-boards, but entirely seperate boards. I would think that if you could make one board not count toward post count, wouldn't it be simple to make two boards that way. That way people who are concerned about things like astetics will still be satisfied and people who would like the board split would be satisfied. The worst loss here would be the name for the board and that could be fixed with calling them something like "NNV: Contests" and "NNV: Games"

I'm finally back for the summer, although hopefully I'll spend a little more time away from this screen.

I don't see what the problem is, other then sheer laziness.
I don't find it all that hard to scroll through a few pages of topics.
I generally feel that if people are interested in something, they'll reply and continue to reply. If they forget about a contest, PM them. It's up to the user and creator of the game or the contest or the thread in NNV to keep it interesting.

I didn't like the sub forums.
And I don't like the idea of making a whole new board just to deal with it.

Rather than sheer laziness, it is actually difficult locating specific threads too, especially if you are participating in many games/contests. They all have many pages and are frequently splitted, and some have 2 or more boards for the same game, 1 board for each team and a commentary thread too. Coupled with the numerous set-contests and word game threads like "Person above you", "What's on your Ctrl-V etc", and the NNV board is a confusing jungle.

Could you elaborate further?

We have explained our stand and why we feel this should be improved, maybe you can tell us what difficulties/disadvantages there are in dividing the NNV into two boards (not as sub-forums).

NNV is no more confusing then you make it. If you can't keep track of what you're participating in, then it can easily be said you are trying to do too much at once.
The Pointless Rps are very rare now adays, I can't find any at the moment in the first two pages, which to me would involve them not being overly popular. And since theres so few, it could easily be argued that NNV is home to...

Set Contests
Games
Giveaways

Making a whole other board, for NNV, IMO, would be a waste of a board. There have been a lot of other board proposals before this one, many of which I would rather see first but that is personal preference. What I believe to be an easier solution, would be to completely disallow set contests, and just have people be able to request, that way, people are gyped for prizes, and no one gets hurt (it does happen.).

Ontop of this, as has already been pointed out, if you clean up the boards, they'll get messy again. Even if you divide the set contests out into a seperate board or subforum, then it will still be just as hard to search through the games. And the games, what with all the splits, will always be hard to search through. The simple answer to this is to limit the ammount of pages one game is allowed to take up, or to confine the game chat to an offsite area. Rather then create a whole new board.

Not to mention... that if you look at how many locked topics there are in NNV, after the first page, you'd realise that the mod staff, aren't having much of a problem looking after it.

The board is dealt with fine. It's not really a problem to make a new board, or a subforum... in the end (though i'm not sure if sub forums are compatible with PPT at the moment, i'm not a technical superstar afterall), but I just don't see the point in making a whole new board or sub forum for it. I don't feel that NNV deserves a subforum, or a new board, and I don't think it should get one.

Did I elaborate enough, or should I go deeper into the matter?

I have always been for the split of NNV Games and Contests & Giveaways. I absolutely *loved* when they finally were divided in the last forum shortly before it went down. It is really tough to run giveaways and such when games that are constantly split are being held on the same board, especially when a Werewolf game is going on.

If subforums are not a possibility, I think a seperate (non-post increment) board for Contests & Giveaways would be wonderful. NNV is a board I use a lot and this would make life a lot easier. It's such a mess now.

I agree, It is pretty cluttered in there. *takes machete and hacks through the dense foliage to get to the board*
