Hi everyone,

I had something very strange happen,

I just tried to bid on someones trade and got a message to say

"This user has blocked you from bidding on their trades"

I never ever bid rubbish nor try to rip anyone off, and I dont know why this would happen, or how they put that there.

I dont see any option to block others when I put things up for trade..

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Many thanks, its sure odd.

SS:)

Never knew TNT had this new rule or feature... Never got it myself... Maybe try it some time later?

Apparently, if you block in regular NeoMail, it blocks from everything but NeoBoard topics.

Has this person ever blocked you from Neomails/Neofriends?

Quote from Neopets:

"Blocked Users

A blocked user will not be able to send you anything, including mails, NeoFriend requests or guild invitations, and will not be able to make offers on your lots in the Island Trading Post."

I'm pretty sure the only way to block someone from bidding on a trade is what Morningstar mentioned, the Neomail block.

Myself, I regularly block folks who send me begging or otherwise annoying Neomails. Please understand I'm not saying that you ever begged (though there are probably some folk who did at one point & later grew up), but perhaps the person on the trading post found something else about you annoying -- didn't like what you said on a Neoboard, got annoyed that you didn't fall for a scam, just doesn't like your username, could be almost anything. And since you can't Neomail that person, there's really no way to find out.

(Having someone else Neomail them to ask would probably be considered harassment -- not a good idea.)

Yes, Its certainly a strange one, our account is under 13 ( my daughters are only 8 so I dont want to remove the controls) so yes, we cant neomail anyone, or receive neomail anyway, nor have we ever bid rubbish, and have always IMO been fair on both sales and purchases in the trades.

One thing I did notice about the user in question was that they appear to have a new account and make mention of the fact that they had been iced recently after having been playing for 50+ months, so whether they are a disgruntled player I dont know.

I noticed this also on someone elses trade description just then,

Quote:
Please bid fairly! JUNK WILL ROT AND YOU WILL BE TRADE BLOCKED! NO NEOMAIL PLEASE!!

Again they specifically mention "Trade Blocked" So whether there is an option that isnt available to us having an under 13 account I dont know..

very unsettling though to be blocked and have no idea what we did wrong...

I'm quite sure this is because they blocked you under neomail. I believe TNT mentioned that you can block someone from bidding on your trades if you blocked them from neomailing you.

Even if they blocked you, there is always someone else to go to, I'm sure. Cheer up. :)

Although your account is underage, you can still access mail, but you can't send it, or view Neofriends. But you do have the option of blocking people:

Maybe we should ask a premium member if there is a new feature being tested.
