I just recieved some full page popup add on Neo. Um..yeah. I can't remember what it was, seeing that I have my history to not show. So, if I can remember it correctly, it was some sort of dating thing. I believe. =) Just a fair warning that you people keep your popup blockers on :) I have no screenies of it unfortunately, but Neo was the only thing I was running when I recieved it. Positive it wasn't spyware. I checked today for spyware.

Dating ads on Neo? Jeez, what's the world coming to? We get frozen for saying 'lover' and 'hot', whilst big popups like this are errmm popping-up. I wonder what Adam will say when he sees it :P

i imagine he would be very alarmed to hear if something like that is happening.

i cant believe that would happen, but if you're sure it was definitely related to neopets...urrgh i dont know what to say. i hope adam fixes it

I don't go on anywhere else but Neopets and PPT. And I had just run a spyware check and had been on PPT not at all that day. (yesterday)

Yes. I'm positive it was Neo.

You sure it's not just a rollover image/foreground ad and not an actual pop-up? Or could you click on it and move it around, and close it seperately, ect.?

Special thanks to Joey from NNN for the sig!

Hmmmm...I'm not too good with the whole spyware, third party whatever ads. But I hope Neo isn't spreading pop-up ads. If so, I would say they made a BIG mistake. *crosses fingers and toes for good luck*

Were you on PPT at the same time? On the main PPT site I get pop-ups.

Just as a bit of defence -- it may be the fault of the banner roatation company that provides the ads and not Neopets directly. If there is some proof of it, it's probably best to contact TNT about it.

Yes, I'd say that's it. And I think I read somewhere that Adam said they should not be allowing ads to cause pop-ups.

Pop-ups are like mooses. See?

I too have read neo saying that there would be no pop-up ads. You could have picked it up any where email, or messanger.

I can confirm that it wasn't from 3rd party spyware. I have gotten two pop ups in the past week while on Neo--asking me to fill out a survey. And this happened immediately after I had run Ada-Ware, McAfee, and Pest Patrol. So, my system was super duper clean before hitting Neo. The pop ups came from Neo--and, if not Neo, then from the banner ads--which, in my opinion, is the same thing as coming from Neo. Because Neopets should have control over the content of the banner ads and whether or not they have spyware, pop ups, etc. So they are ultimately responsible for everything that happens on the site.

Tested made this fabulous set for me!!! Isn't it great?

Most of the banners I now have blocked (or at least hidden) by Adblock... and popups are prevented natively by Mozilla.

I got one popup a few weeks ago, talked about it here:
http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12633

I am positive the popup I was getting was from Neo (their advertisers). I added that to my block list once I figured out what it was (it was the kind that closed after a few seconds!). I've no idea if they removed it, but I did send in a report to them.

So I don't doubt your popup was coming from the Neopets site.

You know, those of use who have decided to block ads rather than go insane are not seeing most of the stuff. Nice, eh? Well, think about this: us blocking ads means Neo doesn't get a hundred zillion complaints;)

I was only blocking ads in one browser just so I could do certain things that the ads interfered with. After I experienced that popup I blocked ads in all the browsers I use. I don't mind the ads, I know why they're there, if it was my site I'd ride the recent internet advertising wave too; it's just when they generate popups, cause your cursor to go crazy, drop down, double up, or flash at you like the Vegas strip that I despise.

I have also gotten a popup ad in the past from Neo. I didn't actually see it cause I use Firefox, but the little bar at the top of my window came up and indicated there's a popup, so I know for certain it's from Neopets (probably the banner ads).

Not all popups are blocked by Mozilla. In the past 6 months or so, I've had 2 popup ads sneak through. It's not very many, but they're still popups nonetheless.
