For Neopets ONLY discussion.

I would like as a neopets and powerpets user to do a little clearing up because a VERY important bit information hasn't gotten into the heads of you people arguing: This was purely a satirical statement and not the real Powerpets. For those not well versed with literary methods the definition of satire is provided:
sat·ire
1.
1. A literary work in which human vice or folly is attacked through irony, derision, or wit.
2. The branch of literature constituting such works. See Synonyms at caricature.
2. Irony, sarcasm, or caustic wit used to attack or expose folly, vice, or stupidity.
__
1. A composition, generally poetical, holding up vice or folly to reprobation; a keen or severe exposure of what in public or private morals deserves rebuke; an invective poem; as, the Satires of Juvenal.
2. Keeness and severity of remark; caustic exposure to reprobation; trenchant wit; sarcasm.
Syn: Lampoon; sarcasm; irony; ridicule; pasquinade; burlesque; wit; humor

Meh, yeah, it probably is. It just seems to me like it's in a crude tone. As long as they're doing it in more of a humour than in an attack, I guess I'm fine with it. But the way they wrote it make it seem so... mean.

If you take all the complaints found here at PPT, add sarcasm, and stir thoroughly, you could easily bake that article up. You have the ingredients. I don't think that article was too bad. It just sounds like somebody, who doesn't play, listened to the worst complaints from those who do.
Are you mocking Neopets? I LOVE Neopets. I may complain about the Red Pteri and being frozen... but you, who are not of Neopets, CANNOT!

Oh my gosh, I love that! But you forgot the banner ads.

We moan about them, too.
I can see from both the Powerpets point of view, and the Neopets point of view, but I don't really get it. Sure, Powerpets is tired of being called a copier. But could they at least have said it more subtly? That whole thing just screamed out 'NEOPETS!!!' when there are a lot of other pet sites, too. The fact is, that Neopets is one of the largest Virtual Pet Sites, and until further notice will keep on growing. So, they have to resort to... drastic measures... eheh...

i agree with them on some levels, but still, it's a cheapshot. it just makes powerpets seem like it's run by childish people. neopets is clearly far more advanced than powerpets, but this reason is because of all the selling out they've done. so, what powerpets is attacking neo for is true, but it also helps make neo a better site. it's kind of good and bad at the same time.

Whenever someone mentions *other* site, it's never a good sign. Either name the site or stuff it.

I just looked at Powerpets for the first time today. It looked like a pretty good site, but I really don't have time to spend on another addictive website. Their article definately didn't encourage me to join their site, though.

they're covering their butts in order to avoid a lawsuit. while it's cowardly, it's probably better than sued for slander.

lol... I just went to see powerpets and its not all that bad. I like the fact that under "features" it has in bold letter from everything else "Multiple Shops" and "Four Player Training Center"

That's the entire problem -- if you're covering your butt, it is probably because you have something to fear. You can't get sued for slander if you're telling the truth. If you're covering your butt in fear of a slander lawsuit, it shows that you yourself think you're slandering.

oh, i agree 100%. they're bitter (which i can sorta understand, constantly being compared to someone else must suck), so they're spouting off a lot of insulting information that does have a basis in truth, but it's still mostly their opinion and could get them in trouble. they know it
EDIT: i created an account to try and see for myself about this site before i made my opinion, and man am i confused. of course i'm a newbie there and all, but in my opinion it's harder to figure out than neopets was. i'll try and give it some time. (also i wanted to find out why their villian is called "padam" and if it had any relationship to neopets founder adam, but i don't think it does

)

That is so rude! I didn't read the whole thing, but that honestly is an opinion that should be kept to themselves.
I'm glad I quit the site a while ago.

ROFL!
Heh! Well, I thought it was funny

Don't really give a toss where it was, or why it was written, it was funny
Dunno if I've ever been to that site or not, don't really care, I love Neo

But that article tickled me

Precisely!

That wasn't a very wise move on their part. It strongly reminded me of a past incedent we had with another fansite, and I find their attack to be just as tacky, rude, and low.
However, if you're under the impression that potshots are "above" the Neopets staff, I suggest you look at the description of the "Pink Poogle Toy".

My thinking is that it is one thing to be upset about being called a "copycat" BUT the way to show the world that you aren't a copycat is to make you site better. Writing an article, no matter how much a satire it might be, and slamming the other website and its staff members is really tacky. If PP is unique as people say it is, then they on't HAVE to slam Neo to prove that they are unique, because they already are.
Now, the mention of having to pay REAL USD for a game item sounds a bit worst than Neopet's premium play and the fact that their "Elite" players get special priveleges doesn't seem quite fair either- it sounds to me like they do have something very similar to a pay to play thing- even if it's not called the dame thing.
