Techo is actually pronounced "TEH-koh," so it would make sense that the word "Technological" would have been part of its origin. Couldn't say for sure, though.

Mynci is Welsh for monkey. Adam's Welsh.

I've seen "Drake" used to describe a male dragon.

Bruce and Lenny, IIRC, were both named after English game show hosts of the 70s.

An Eyrie is an eagles nest, or a nest high in the hills. So, a bird would nest in an Eyrie.

Cybunny - cyber bunny.

Zafara is probably the most complex. Zafara was a bookish princess in the south of Spain who was betrothed to a man named al-Bakri. She was so saddened by the prospect of marrying al-Bakri that she died of sadness on the day of her wedding.

You might also check the NT archives as a previous article was done on this.

actually lupus in latin would mean wolf, and canis lupus is actually the scientific [latin] name for the grey wolf. o.O

scorchio may have to do with fire and scorching, seeing as it looks rather dragon-ish

Draik - Close to "draco," meaning "serpent" or "dragon" -- obviously intentional. Also close to "drake," but that's a male duck rather than a dragon.

Drake means Dragon in Swedish. Also some other languages words for dragon are very similar to Draik.

Heres my 2 pence worth :D

Bruce = Bruce Forsyth, Tap dancer, Dinner Suit wearer (See the relation to a penguin here?? 8)) and gameshow host. UK tv...

That's what the Bruce used to be, a cute lil guy in a suit. The same way there was a MacyGrey pet.

As much as this pains me to say this, I think my favorite pet of all Neopia, the Acara, is named after Acara fish...

The reason I dislike that is...well...

*covers all her pets ears*

The name for the fish was named "Acara", which is a Guarani (Amerindian) word meaning "fish of little worth."

My little aquatic neopian counterparts are priceless, though. ;)

Yeah, but the pronununciation of the Swedish variety is pretty different. "Drake" isn't said like "draik" or drake as in a male duck, but the word Drake (as in Dragon) in Swedish is pronounced "Drrah-kay."

Of course, if you are Swedish, ignore this post. LOL. ;) I wasn't sure if you were from here or not and thought I'd clarify just in case. ;)

Mynci is actually the phonetic transcription of the word "monkey" - i.e., it is how "monkey" is spelt in the International Phonetic Alphabet :)
