If you're talking about the music charts, he was a one hit wonder, since only one of his songs got on the charts. Though he still was a music legend.

I thought the question referred to becoming a legend in a short period of time, as Jimi did. My mistake, and you're right, Jimi was definetely not a one hit wonder.If you're talking about the music charts, he was a one hit wonder, since only one of his songs got on the charts. Actually, many of his songs got on the charts. (eg. The Wind Cries Mary, Hey Joe, Castles Made of Sand, Voodoo Chile, Purple Haze, etc.)
