I doubt it... do you know how much money they're making from these toys?

Actually, while boycot seems extreme at the moment, and I do agree that McDonalds should at least be notified of the way neo treats their players, I do think that eventually something drastic will have to be done. Neo has crossed so many lines that only the most outrageous glitches even draw attention any more. Passwords (and email addresses) were freely given out for hours before anything was done. At least 1/3 of the whole site lost a day's work or more, and most of those people lost anywhere from 10k to 5 million. And in the meantime, hundreds of inocents get frozen every week because somehow the computers 'thought' they spotted something suspicious. It's so bad that the #1 fansite for neo is up in arms. Sometime in the near future, if things don't change, it's going to become so bad that either the site will collapse internally, or thousands of irate players will band together to boycot neo. I've almost reached that point, and judging from the recent topics and posts, I'd say plenty of other people have, too. And all we really want is a little respect from them.

I'm not just thinking of Boycotting, I'm thinking of quitting completely.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not angry and I don't consider all of two years wasted, because I've had a blast before things started going downhill, plus, I found out about this wonderful site and it's friendly forum!

But, my tastes are changing, and I've other hobbies, including, running a Mush in a World of Darkness setting, which has taken my primary interest off of Neopets. Maybe if the site was to go back to the more "mature" and less merchandised, I'd reconsider.. and maybe if they gave me back my original account, but I don't think even that would help without the former.

I don't honestly think that things will change unless people actually do stop playing the games and creating accounts. I think it's hit the rockslide and can't get off, as pesimistic as that sounds.

Amazing what one can come up with when one is given a cardboard box and a roll of duct-tape!

I've pretty much stopped--and I know many of you have heard that before in the past--but I have. I collected my freebies today--but even that was an effort--and I didn't even bother with collecting my interest on my other accounts. And, I am a seasoned player--I've played for about 1-1/2 years now and have a huge plushie gallery--was actually going to try out for gallery spotlight. And, I admit, I was a hardcore addict prior to last weekend's glitches--ask my family about the number of hours we all played the game. They have pretty much quit too.

I had glitch after glitch hit me for about a year now and each time, I'd think, sooner or later Neopets will realize the error of their ways and fix it once and for all--but they haven't and the glitches have gotten much, much worse and much more frequent. And, I really don't think they will.

Neopets is just so unreliable that I can't just keep going. I had three big glitches hit me in one day. And then another hit me the following day. I just don't get a thrill playing it anymore--not anything close to the feeling I used to get--and that is a real shame--because I really like the game. And, it would be a great game if a person could actually rely on it being fair and accurate.

When I first started, it was the best game I had ever seen--but, it is only fun when you can count on the accounting of nps and sales, etc. to be accurate, when you can count on things not disappearing willy nilly, and when you can count on the site owners to be responsive to their players.

Who knows? Maybe it is for the best.

Well, my internet wasn't working for the last couple days (the page would pop up but then it would instantly freeze), so now, when I finally am able to get on, excitedly heading to neopets, what do I find? My 64 neoboard avatars are gone, and my current NeoQuest game erased.

This is rediculous. It really is enough now to make you afraid to do anything on neopets.

Don't buy items from shops, you may lose your neopoints!
Don't bother making money for the day, there may be a rollback!
Don't play NeoQuest, it could be rolled back too, or even deleted!
Don't use the trading post, it's often glitchy!
Don't get avatars, they can disappear!

Just about everything on neopets has been acting up, all in the last, what, two weeks? It's plain unprofessional, and their method of handling it even more so.

See, that's what I'm the most upset about, dog. Not the fact that the site is all haywire. I mean, they've got this McDonald's thing going on, so more people find out about Neopets, I bet their pageviews have skyrocketed. I understand having the extra load on the servers can wreak havoc, but it's the fact that all the users have gotten in response is, "We were having some glitches, everything should be fine now." Let me remind everyone, that message was in the news BEFORE the av's, faerie abilities, and petpets disappeared.

Although I'm upset that Neo has been having some problems, I don't think it's fair to blaim it all on the "ENT". I have a feeling that all the programmers/artists/tech people are overstretched simply because of all the commercial ventures Neopets is now involved in.
There's the TCG, the magazine, the new portal/toolbar/neomail stuff, McDonalds, the cell phone game, not to mention all the sponsored games on the site. I think the real person to blame this on is Doug Dohring, the CEO of whatever company owns Neo.
I think that once the team can get back to concentrating on the website, things will be a lot better.

When Neoschools actually have the grace to appear, fully-coded, no glitches and ability to actually be something worthwhile for the site, I'll believe that...

I know I said I was done with this thread.

I lied.

Precisely. Generally, the corporate attitude is what breaks down a relationship between websites and their users.

Really, I don't mind the commercialization of Neopets. I mind that the staff seems to be stretched so thin. Increase the player relations staff, and improve the punishment systems, and I'd wager just about every complaint we have here would take care of itself.

i understand that money to run a site like this, does not appear out of thin air, nor does it grow on trees *although i have memories of raking leaves for pocket money...* i do wish they would focus a little more on the users who help make the site the popular thing it is. a site which doesn't spend as much time down, and fun and interesting content and stuff :)

If you see my sanity, get it to give me a call.

Okay, I haven't quit yet, because I figured out WHY I was playing the game in the first place that I don't get from anywhere else.. I'm a habitual collector, meaning in the crude terms, that I'm a horrible pack-rat, and Neopets is the one place where I can collect things without it costing me an arm and a leg and not clutter up my home!

Oddly enough, I was bored yesterday, so I went to the comments and suggestions submission form and wrote exactly how I felt about the site... and hit submit. I don't think it will do a lot of good, no. I'm not that delusional! But maybe if all of us did just that, they might listen. Or they might not. I felt that I had to do it in order to even continue to play, in the limited fashion that I now am.
