I really don't like people that discriminate against rats. Rats are often better pets than hamsters, but EVERYBODY loves hamsters. Hamsters bite--when I had rats, they only nibbled. I was never hurt by them. They were so sweet and lovable...they're not all gross, plague-carrying, filthy animals. Actually, very few of them are.

BUH???

(Expect random post, hamster obsesser here.)

Sure, rats are misunderstood. But what is the difference between a bite and a nibble?! They still hurt the same, and it's not the hamster's fault some ugly great brute comes and pulls you out of your cage, says, "Wishy wishy boo boo", and then screams when the hamster bites because a) it is sleepy or b) it is scared.

In fact, hamsters don't usually bite when they're scared, they usually wee. O.o

I have a hamster now, Cassie, who jumped down my dad's shirt when she was young. And now she never ever bites, not even when she climbs up my jacket sleeve. *grumble*

And I'm taming a hamster now, name Toffee. She's never bitten me. Hamsters usually bite when they are rushed, like with young kids, hamsters are taken back from the petshop, they're disorientated and scared after the walk or car journey, and suddenly a tempting fat thing which looks indescribably like a peanut comes in. *chomp*

You have to start with hamsters carefully. Tempt them, curl your hand into a fist and let them smell your hand (which no longer has protuding peanuts coming out from it). Talk to them all the time they're awake practically, in the same voice each time. They will recognise you soon.

Do not rush anything.

Enough on hamster training and taming. XD Can I join this group please? :D

(And I think Shelia would make a great mascot.)

Hamster Obsessive, here we come!

Hamsters are really easy to tame - My first ever hamster, Frisky *don't ask...* bite once when we first got him. I handled him alot, and in the three years I had him, he never bit after that. In fact, many people have been really surprised at it..."Oooh, you're hamster is -so- taame" and he let everyone hold him. Even the vet *when he got ill one time*...:p

Chama-chama-chama-chama-chameleon!

I would be too scared to get a python...I'm really scared of them. And I have a phobia over spiders. In year 6 some people came in with spiders and snakes and scorpions. I just sat huddled in the corner crying, I really don't like them :( And last week this year 7 was running around chasing people with a spider. I only just stopped myself crying. :(

We've been given a second chance at keeping this active and alive, and if we lose this chance, it's gone forever.

I really want people to read this thread and realize some of the things members have pointed out, and to do that this must be active. At least not so inactive that it's locked again. So, please- tell me what I need to do to keep this alive so people can understand what we stand for. Anything you think would bring more people to the cause.

Maybe we could have some sort of PPTAAC raising awareness week? We could all change our sets to ones that all have sort of slogen on, sets that stand out and stuff. Or we could have some kind of quiz about animal abuse facts, and the person/people that get the most right win ___np. Non-members could enter it too.

I really like the set idea, but I don't feel so hot about the contest... it makes me feel like I'm bribing people to join or something. I'll look into finding us all a unique set to use, thanks for the idea. :)

Heh, np.

Yeah, I guess it kinda sounds like that *scratches head*

We could do the contest without nps, just to see how much people know what's really happening, and make a bit of a speech at the end or something...*shrug*

I like the set thing as well.

Maybe we could have specific PPTAAC colors that go on your PPTAAC sets so everyone knows its.. like... us. :P Red, white and blue for the colors, maybe..? For animal freedom or something. o_O Kind of silly, I know.

Maybe we should all have different sets, though, because it would be so confusing for all of us to have the same sets.. maybe they could all have the same background and style, but have pictures of our pet(s) on them? :D

I think we should have a little button that links back to PPTAAC. We could all put it in our signatures.

Here's the current plan:

I will find you three well-made sets of different animals, but with the same main text and subtext. You can choose which one you wish to use (if you wish to use one at all). To link your sig to this board, here's what you put in your signature.

Code:

I uploaded an av or something that somebody made for ppt before the boards went down I'm not sure who made it but I just thought I'd share that..

I used that Av! We need the sig!

At one time we had tons and tons of sets and buttons,

Mabey a few of us can request sets for it from famouse set makers? Or have
a set contest, like a PPTAAC set contest, were all sets are put into our area, but we can give the winner something nifty?
