Neopets is going overboard with freezing

Tue Oct 12, 2004 11:57 pm

Ok. I was just checking the news for new developments, and looking at the Minigolf spotlight. The new hole (Hole of Misfortune) was made by smartyxian. I click on the link and i see the message:

Does neopets really go that far in freezing?

[MODS] Delete or lock topic if already mentioned. :)

I think we would need to know the reason why it was frozen, if in fact TNT did the freezing. Who knows, maybe the person, for whatever reason, self-froze or quit?

But yes, there seems to have been alot of freezings lately ... for some odd reasons.

This account was found to be posting inappropriate messages (ie: bad language, insults, chain letters, etc.) on the message boards, guild boards, or other site areas.

... Typical of neopets freezings.

Is this your account?
Because if it's not... you never know; this person could have indeed been actually doing bad things on the neoboards.

Hmm, well I don't know the person or where they might have posted what - like on one of the boards or even their guild board.

It does seem a little odd that a spotlight winner of anything would be frozen. Unless they got into an argument with someone? Thinking something like someone else saying they had the idea for that entry and a name calling match or something.

Then again, I've seen a few people getting warnings on the boards in the past few days for things they could not have done - one person got 2 warnings in 1 day for things to do with their guild. That person doesn't even have a guild o_O

Who wants to bet they were frozen for saying "Hole" in the title of their hole

No, but it doesn't seem likely that it a person would win something of honor and just go spamming on the neoboards...

One of my friends got her "last" warning last week for for bad language on the message board. The problem is she was visiting family and couldn't possibly have posted anything on the boards! She was very frustrated.

There does seem to be a lot of freezings going around.

overzealous

Being in the spotlight makes you a target to needless reportings from hateful losers (I mean this in the nicest way; those who have lost) that report out of spite. Usually TNT freeze first and ask questions later. The person may get unfrozen when they complain and have the freezing reviewed.

It happened to a good friend when her *insert species* gallery won out over some more popular ones. :(

That's what my friend and I think has been happening to here. She seems to get a warning for posting bad things on the neoboards following her winning an art spotlight. Every time. :(

What you have to wonder is whether there are more people being frozen for no reason, or no people doing things freeze-worthy, and then your average people like you and me who get frozen for no reason and just notice more.

And, FYI it's this kind of topic that makes TNT dislike PPT. I'm not being negative, just thought I'd say that.

People are being frozen because they break rules. A few could be mistakes but the vast majority are not. Just look at boards here of people saying they were frozen.....many give enough info so that you know they broke the rules. sad but true

Man, I must be lucky then... I've never gotten any warnings... and I have 4 art trophies...

All I got for the Eyrie day one was lots of Neomails saying they liked my art and three requests. No reports. :)

Excuse me, dogfriend, but unless you have some cold, hard evidence that I can actually see and touch, I cannot side with you whatsover.

I have two family members, both frozen--neither one broke any rules whatsoever--and both got their accounts back--lucky for them--but only because we argued and argued with TNT about the unfair freezing. And, just in case you think they were cheating when they were not: My 44 year old husband doesn't know what a flash game is, let alone how to cheat at one, and my daughter wasn't scamming, only giving away Christmas presents (I know this for a fact--I was in the room with them when both freezings occurred). In fact, the staffer who unfroze my daughter's account stated that she was frozen because someone had falsely reported her and that, due to the sheer number of posts made on the chat boards, the staff often has to rely on the reports of their players to enforce the rules (whether those reports are legit or not).

I know another person who just got his account frozen for supposedly using an automated program--he also was unfrozen about a day later, after TNT reviewed the circumstances of the case. He is the biggest gold trophy holder in all of Neopia. He wasn't cheating, trust me.

I now have two guild members who are quitting their accounts altogether after getting warnings on their accounts. One was told she got the warnings for over-reporting and she hasn't been on that account in weeks. The other got warnings because she politely told a person that the 34K they were asking for their snowbunny was way too high.

And, I am an oldtimer here at PPT--I have heard of many, many people who did nothing absolutely wrong, but were frozen nonetheless--people who wouldn't think of risking the years and years they spent on their accounts for a few fast nps.

So, to correct you, people are not frozen because they break rules. Maybe a few are--but most are frozen because TNT doesn't have the amount of staff needed to properly oversee the site and to ensure that the freezings are proper.

That happened to me before, I took a few-month sabbatical away from Neopets, and when I came back, I got a warning in my mailbox saying that I insulted someone or something.
