TNT's Icing System - Good or Bad?

Well personally I believe that the mods need to look at the situation closer before freezing them. So I say its bad!

Of course, you got frozen. :P

But yeah, the system sucks. I mean come on, they froze someone for saying Ebay! EBAY!!! They need to turn of the bots, get off their lazy butts, and *gasp* LOOK at it before they click that little freeze button!

I agree with what's already been said, the moderators need to look at each account seperately in their seperate circumstances before freezing. I also think perhaps more in-depth records should be kept about why a user was frozen, that way when it comes to attempting to get an account back its possible for the team to check the specific reason (not some automated "select one from the drop down list") and then they can check if the act actually happened. I suppose all up, more consideration needs to be given in general before that "frozen" button is clicked.

I agree, the mods should look a lot closer, looking closer may spare peoples account, I think we should do something about this.

One thing that bugs me is something in the page when you send in the form is that they say thay they aren't responsible for your account being lost or something like that. I can understand why they'd use bots though: At any one time, there's probably over a thousand users playing games, using the neoboards, cruising the site, and participating in guilds. It'd just be impossible to track them all. Although I'm wondering why it asks you if you got warned in the form: I've never gotten a warning ever, just a straight up freezing.

Simply put, their bots are way too vague and end up freezing people for, say, a game glitch, without noticing that there are 75 or so people with the same problem

At the moment, im trying to make them fix glitches

Please do not swallow the mattresses.

I'm guessing that this may be one of those "can you identify your account" or "are you the real owner" type questions, afterall, very rarely would someone other than the real owner of the account know what warnings they got and when.

They should make a bot in which it alerts the staff. Like a little pop-up or something. Then the staff should look it over. And TNT should get some more monitors. >_> They're rich enough...

I'm a fan of freezing, only when it gets the right people. Many people are frozen unfairly and some never manage to get their accounts back. I do think TNT was right to create a system to stop cheaters, but I think they need to revise the system. Have bots send out warnings, but have actual human mods make the decision whether or not to freeze. There are also some things that can lead to someone getting iced that really should be looked at. Saying certain words like ebay doesn't seem like a freezeable offense to me, while if someone was swearing or using vulgar language, that would be different. I guess what I'm trying to say is I think it's good that they're trying to stop the cheaters, I just think there system needs a little work.

According to a few of the staff of Neopets; they don't use bots.

*shrugs*
I'm for freezing most of the time... though I do understand that there are some unfortunate situations.

The idea of freezing in general is a good one. But I think that since it's so easy to make a new accout the current freezing system effects the wrong people the most.

Also since they don't really have a clearly defined set of rules theres a lot of leeway

Not to mention the fact that they don't use bots is obviously a lie. What about all the people who automaticaly got frozen for getting "impossible" game scores wheather validly or during some sort of glitch.

So I'm pro freezing -- final penalties are fair.
But anti the current freezing system.

Apparently they rely heavily on user reports.

I don't like their system. While a lot of the time, people are justly frozen, in some cases they're wrong. Some people get away with things; others are frozen for no legitimate reason.

It might be fine if they got more monitors or support staff, or both. But the way they're going, they can't keep up with it. I was frozen over 15 months ago. I've sent countless emails.

I haven't got a reply. Not even an autoreply.

I volunteer in LJ support; I understand what a big task it can be - and Neo is a lot larger than LJ. But at least in LJ, they have a system of seeing what's been answered, what hasn't, and what needs more correspondence.

Gone, forever.

That's not a very good ideaa, they'll have thousands of pop ups.. Although, it would really help with all those unjustfull freezing.. And yes, I think the freezing system is bad.. :P

I think it has possibility, but it is just done too lazily. Things aren't being checked correctly and too many innocent people are being iced. There should be a strike system and temporary bans as well as freezing. One punishment to cover everything is just ridiculous.
