History

In Ancient Greece long ago, resided two powerful Gods, Cronus and Rhea. Their creator is yet to be discovered however their purpose as immediately known. Cronus and Rhea began to build a civilization in a deserted country, in the end they had called it 'Greece'. During this creation, both Cronus and Rhea created a world above their created called 'Mount Olympus'.

They both lived happily, creating mortals, villages, forests etc... for their loving country Greece. As time past by, Cronus and Rhea began to feel the pressure of the various demands by the mortals and the elements. They could not watch over everything at every second therefore they began to spawn children. They had three children named Zeus (Future King of Gods), Hades (God of Underworld) and Poseidon (God of the Sea). However three Gods were not enough to meet the demands of their people, therefore Cronus and Rhea began to pray to their creator to create more Gods.

Time past by and with every new day, a new God was born. Each God was assigned with a task and they accepted it happily -- or so they thought. Their son Hades was uncontent with his duty and began to plot revenge on his parents. During the darkest night, Hades crept into his parents chamber and murdered them. At this time, the almighty creator immediately banished Hades to never set foot into Mount Olympus and his brother Zeus became the King of Gods. Zeus soon married Hera (The Goddess of Marriage and Birth) and they ruled both Greece and Mount Olympus. However, Hades heart was fulled with vegeance and swore to kill his brother and become the King of Gods.

Locations

Athens- Athens was the first city created by Cronus and Rhea. Athens was first named 'Ares' however once Athena (Goddess of Wisdom) was assigned to look after Ares, she renamed it to 'Athens'. Athens is known for its rivalry with the city of Sparta. Athens is the one of the important cities in Ancient Greece.

Sparta- Sparta was the second city created by Cronus and Rhea. It is known for its rivalry with the city of Athens. Sparta was also known for its military and strict government. The God of Sparta was Aries (God of War), he trained Sparta to be come the fiercest city in all of Ancient Greece. Sparta is one of the important cities in Ancient Greece.

Thebes- Thebes was the fifth city created by Cronus and Rhea. It is the first stage of the popular event 'Underworld'. The God of Thebes was originally Hephaestus (God of Fire) however once Hercules (Son of Zeus and Hera) was born, Hephaestus appointed the city to him.

The Underworld- The Underworld is where the Hades (Lord of the Dead/God of the Underworld) resides. Once a mortal has died, they are bound to Underworld forever unless rescued by a loved one. Hades feeds on the tears and pain of mortals, making him very powerful. He has one companion, a three headed dog named Cerberus.

The Olympus Coliseum- Resides in Athens and is the center of the Ancient Greek Games. Many events are held there, the most popular event is 'Underworld'. Many competitors enter the games and the games are the center of entertainment for Ancient Greek.

---

Events

The Ancient Greek Games- Held in The Olympus Coliseum and are the source of entertainment for many residents. Participants may sign up for as many events as they like. Heroes are the first to sign up for the event, 'Underworld'.

Underworld (The Event)- Underworld is the most popular event in The Olympus Coliseum. It was named 'Underworld' after many heroes were never seen again after entering. Underworld consists of three stages, 'The Long Journey', 'Battles' and 'Death'. 'The Long Journey' is the easiest and longest stage of the three stages. The hero must journey cross Athens, Sparta and many other cities to the city of Thebes however they will face obstacles along the way. The second stage 'Battles' is a two day battle against various monsters and finally against the God of War, Aries. The final stage 'Death' is a journey to the Underworld. Heroes must battle Hades and save one of their deceased loved ones (If they do not have a deceased loved one than they are not allowed to enter the event). If they fail during any of these stages, they will die. If they defeat all three stages they will be crowned King/Queen of Greece -- however no one has ever defeated all three stages.

Festivals- Many festivals are held around Ancient Greece to worship various Gods/Goddessess.

Summary

Zeus begins the day by relaxing and commenting on the various aspects of the sky. His wife Hera (God of Marriage/Birth), points out that if he continues to act as if nothing bad is going to happen, something bad will happen. Zeus shrugs this off with a shake of his head. Hermes (God of Merchants) flies to Zeus informing him on his daily routine. Zeus is now forced to attend many things including Demeter's birthday festival.

In the Underworld, Hades is plotting his revenge against Zeus and vows to take control of Mount Olympus. He reminisces of the day he was assigned God of the Underworld and how it had hurt him. Hades was not evil however the power of the Underworld proved otherwise.

In Athens, Athena (God of Wisdom) is sitting on her throne with her loyal owl Ibid. She speaks about a bad feeling and believes that everything has been too calm lately. Nearby, another temple devoted to Athena was being constructed.

Aries (God of War) sits in his throne in Sparta, awaiting the latest shipment of disciplined warriors for the Games/Olympics. Aries was determined to battle as fierce as he could -- not letting any hero/ess defeat him. Out of jealously, Aries wishes Hades overtakes the thrown and becomes King of Gods to vanquish his one true enemy, Zeus.

A heroess named Helena makes her way across a path, and begins to worry about money. Considering she is a female, obtaining a job would be very difficult than if she was a male.

After a long hard day of work, Zeus relaxes in his newly made cloud throne. He rewards his hard work with a glass of wine and speaks about how famous the Greeks are for it. He than calls his favorite creation, Pegasus. Pegasus was a horse he created for Hercules (Ruler of Thebes) however Pegasus parted ways with Hercules once he had became the Rules of Thebes.

As this is happening, Persophone is walking through a field of wild flowers and slowly picking them up. It was a gift for her mother's (Demeter) birthday. She begins to think about the opinions of her husband Hades and how everyone misunderstood him. However she quickly shrugged this thought off and continued to pick flowers to her mother birthday.
Atalanta, a heroess is challenged by a man to a race. If any man would beat Atalanta, they would marry her -- however this has never happened. Atalanta was greatful to her farther for allowing this race to occur, she did not want to be forced into marriage and she figured that this race would avoid it immensely.

At the fiery gates of Hell stands the guard dog Cerberus. Cerberus is tempted by a lost soul who wants to pass him and escape the depths of the Underworld. Cerberus forbids this as his job is to forbid any souls from leaving the Underworld. However, if one foolish soul slipped past the Gates, Cerberus would have the permission to devour them. Cerberus retreats from this interruption and lies on the floor thinking of the Olympics.

(I may have to create a small website for the summaries. If anyone knows of a free webhosting community, please PM me)

---

More Gods/Mortals/Creatures may be added if more people sign up. The amount of roleplayers for heroes is two. I will be posting my Form very soon. Have fun!

WhiteEdit: Locked by Ammer's request.

Name: Athena

Position: Goddess of wisdom, the art of war, and crafts.

Appearance: Painting of Athena. She is usually seen with her owl, which is also her symbol.

History: Although usually depicted holding a spear with her golden helmet pushed back to reveal her elegant beauty, Athena is known more for her role as judge, diplomat, and mediator than for actually fighting in battle. Her decisions are renowned for their fairness and compassion, and she is a superb strategist. Although Athena is widely known as "Athena Goddess of War", she is more of a mediator and a planner. She always works to prevent war, but once war had been joined the Athena fights efficiently for her side.

If possible, I'd love to be Hades!

Name: Hades
Position: God of the Underworld
Appearance: Plauged by his murdered parents, Hades has exceedingly ugly features. His skin has long withered away to reveal the bones beneath. If one looks under the long, brown cloak that he always wears, the would see muscles, and bones, working as in the normal human body. Hades sits on a throne made of ebony, and carries a scepter. He also has a helmet, given to him by the Cyclopes, which can make him invisible.
History: Hades was the God of the underworld. As referenced above, he killed his parents, and got banished to the underworld. Tempted Persephone into the underworld, he married her, and during the Autumn and the Winter, rules the underworld with her.

I took most of the information about the various Gods from that site. And you may be Hades.

Per my chat with Ammer

I'm taking two characters.

Goddess

Name: Persephone
Position: Goddess
Appearance: Persephone is one among many of the beauties of the Godly world. She is tall and slim, and possesses long flowing golden hair which seems to move of it's own accord.
History:
Both the beautiful daughter of the Goddess of grain and fertility Demeter, and the wife to the God of the Underworld Hades. Persephone at first lonely and depressed about her abduction from the world above by Hades, soon came to love the cold king of the underworld. Her mother Demeter on the other hand remained angry at Hades and bitter about the marriage.

When Persephone is with Hades the earth is wracked by the sorrow of her mother. But, when Persephone returns from the underworld to walk the earth again, Demeter pours forth the blessings of Spring to welcome her beloved daughter home.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Heroen

Name: Atalanta
Position: Heroen
Age: 22
Appearance: Atalanta is as tall as most men, she is very Athletic in build and wears her long brown hair in a tight bun on the top of her head. She wears the typical garb of the era.
History: Atalanta is a female athlete. She is highly regarded for prowess as a hunter and the speed in which she acted. Atalanta has vowed never to marry a man unless he can beat her in a foot race.

[OOC: That's enough people for now. Let's start.]

---

"Ah, what a lovely day. The sky is clear, the mortals are happy, what can go wrong?" asked Zeus as he raised his hand igniting a bundle of clouds to form a soft yet durable throne on the tip of a cloud.

"You know, if you keep saying that, something bad is bound to happen," commented Hera as she shook her head walking towards Zeus, her golden hair shining ever so greatly with every ray of light which hit it.

"Well anything can happen if you use that sort of tone," replied Zeus as he shook his head.

The sky was clear today, light blue enrobed the sky giving out a calm glow, making those around it feel joy. Zeus himself thought this day was like no other, it was very peaceful and not even one problem had been brought to his attention -- not like he wanted one too.

"Oh Zeus! Zeus!" yelled a nearby voice.

Zeus lowered his head, he had spoken to soon.

"Yes Hermes?" asked Zeus as he saw the God darting towards him.

Hermes is the greek God of Merchants, Zeus' most trusted advisor and friend. Hermes wears a winged cap and winged shoes. He bares in his hand a rod entwined with two serpents, called the caduceus.

"You have to attend to your scheduled duties today which include, banishing local mortals, attending Aphrodite's festival and buying Demeter a gift for her birthday," explained Hermes as he fluttered about in the air, twirling his caduceus around.

"Great. Today is definately going to be a long day," replied Zeus as he sat in his cloud throne, sinking his head back onto the soft surface.

Hades sneered, watching the Gods parading around their kingdom. They think that they are so almighty, he thought in his mind, splotting his next act of revenge that he could release upon his perfected brother. Why should he have been made to reign over darkness, he was not evil, but the Underworld's prowess had corrupted him to the ways of the inhabitants. It was not his fault that his parents had found his way into death, they were to blame, they were the ones who made him what he was, they killed themselves.

Still, his revenge would be sooon, and harsh. With his goddess on the ivory throne to his side, and death raining over the overworlds, his plot was soon to come to a climax. The dead had been his servants for many a time, and now he was about to use their service, as he gathered together an army secretly to take over as the King of Gods. His rightful title.

((Is this storyline alright, if you want it to be historically accurate, then say, but this just seemed to be the first story to pop into my head. say if it's not what you intended, and it'll be editted.))

((I just have to add a picture link here; isn't that owl just too adorable? :D http://www.lambdapsiphi.com/daft/daft/images/athena1.jpg))

Athena regarded as her owl, Ibid, tripped back and fort on the table in front of her. She sighed deeply and tapped her fingers against the table. She was in her temple, which was situated on the hill of Acropolis in the city of Athens.

"Things have surely been too calm and nice lately, don't you think Ibid?" she said and looked at the owl that had now stopped. Ibid looked rather confused and made a small purring noise and regarded at Athena with his big round eyes.

Athena sighed yet again and looked out into the bright sunshine.

"Something bad is bound to happen soon." she added and gazed around the temple, with all of its huge statues portraying her, and as far as she knew a new one was being made right at that moment.

"At least they have something to do..." Athena muttered.

Ares leaned back on his high throne in Sparta, as always, sprawled out luxuriously on a high-priced item. He had been drawing little slashes on a crude calandar, waiting for The Games to come just as a little child would wait for a toy.

The god ran a finger through his fair brown hair, his beauty too astounding to be human, being immortal and appearing it as well. As he glanced out at the sea, he saw a large ship on the horizon. One that would be carrying new men for his harsh discipline, to prepare for The Games.

"Excellent." he chuckled to himself, fingering his attempt at a beard. "These find fellows will ensure my victory, whether they no it or not." He stood up and walked around his throne room.

It was decorated with elegant tapestries of men in battle, and chairs eveywhere. It contained few books, on a shelf on the east wall. Other than that, it was neat and tidy.

Zeus was probably elegantly decorating his home on Mount Olympus, his estate paled in comparison to its splendor. Secretly he hoped Hades did seize the throne, overthrowing Zeus, his ultimate envy.
