The Enchanted Forest Chronicles

Has anyone read the series? I've read the first two books. I just couldn't stand that Cimorene got married.

Yep, the whole series.

Personally, I thought Cimorene getting married was quite fine. She still manages to go off on a good adventure in the third book. I didn't like the last book much. I think it was the change of writing style and perspective that put me off.

I like the series as good humour. The way bits of traditional fairy tales are incorporated makes me laugh.

My favourite remains to be the first book though.

I thought it was funny that at the beginning of the third book (I read the VERY beginning) the cat that none of Morwene's cats like is named Grendel . (We're reading Beowulf in school.)

The first book was definetly my favourite, but I thought they were all pretty good...and I had no problem with Cimorene getting married. =P

From the one's I've read, I agree, the first one is the best.

Errhg...I last read the first one in fourth grade. Been a while...better dig it out agian and read it. T'was a funny book. I also some of the secound. She gets married? Oh poo.
(ACK! Beowulf! Thats awfull! Lucky me I don't have to read it, unless I have to get some jokes or something, though most of them are a little to polictal for PinkPT)

Thank you! Finally, someone who agrees!

(Comic for Beowulf:
*Grendel hugging a teddy bear with one arm*
Grendel: But Mommy, they were MEAN to me!)

Sorry, just had to do that. But really, WHY DID SHE HAVE TO GET MARRIED? Cimorene's personality was extrememly different in the second book.

Aw, I like those books, my favorite is a cross between 3 and 4. :3

And I liked it when Cimorene got married. :P I thought it was cute, and she got to go on an adventure to rescue her husband.

ETA: Yeah. her personality was different, but that wasn't mainly because of love... She didn't get married untill the end of the book. XD;;

I've actually never even heard of this series, someone mind filling me in on what they're about? ;)

Mon Sep 13, 2004 3:11 am

Sure. It's about this princess named Cimorene who "refuses to be proper" and runs away to be a dragon's princess. It's about her adventures and Kazul, the dragon. In the first book, there is a plot involving wizards (enemies of the dragons) and a dragon cheating in the trials that decides the new king. It's a pretty interesting series.

Ooh, sounds interesting, just the kind of thing I'd enjoy.

*adds to extremely long list of books to read*

I'm personally going through an "anti-princess, anti-girly" phase (yeah, I know, weird) and so this was a good book for me. It's a humorous book. If you can find it, I'd recommend the book-on-tape. Cimorene's friend's (I forgot her name) voice and expression is really funny, and you wouldn't think about it if you just read the book. (I listened to it on tape before I read it.)

i love the first book, but for some strange reason, every library has the first book, but no-one knows a thing about the others. and we shall not speak of bookshops.

i loved the anti-princess thing, it ranks along with the ordinary princess *although that was soppy*. i just like her when she deals with the genie :) lol *i'ld like to die of old age* :P

I love the series. I own all 4 books in a compilation hardcover I got through a bookclub. I've read it so many times that the book jacket has just about fallen off. I admit the 4th book was a bit different. I almost think it went too fast. Almost like it was written in a hurry just to be done with. I would have like to have seen a 5th book written, maybe an adventure with the entire set of characters. As far as a favorite book, its hard to say. The 3rd was great for the amount of humor in the book. Adventure wise I think the 2nd was the best.

As do I. I really liked the series, although I didn't like the 4th one as much. I should probably dig it out and read it again, I've forgotten most of the details.
