I did a test on what set of first letter usernames come up when you search an item on the Shop Wizard. This is what I got:

OUT OF 100 TRIES

A, I, Y, Q...........19 or 19%

B, J, R, Z...........13 or 13%

C, K, S, N/A......12 or 12%

D, L, T, N/A.......10 or 10%

E, M, U, N/A.......5 or 5%

F, N, V, N/A.......14 or 14%

G, O, W, _........12 or 12%

H, P, X, N/A......16 or 16%


This shows that it is ideal to have a username that starts with A, I, Q or Y and it is least ideal to have a username with E, M, or U. Do you think I did enough repetitions? Do you think my data is accurate?

its entirly random, as too which set of shops it looks at.

Very very interesting experiment. I've had the sinking suspicion that something like this was taking place, but was too lazy to check it out myself. ^_^

Your data is accurate, but I'd be a bit curious to see what would happen if your sample size was bigger or if the experiment was run one more time.

Yeah honestly i think that the samplesize is too small.
I would imagine that the results generated are generated by a psudo random number generator so I'd be really suprised if a sizable sample came out with significant differences

No offence to you, but I don't think you've taken a big enough sample. I spend a LOT of time buying off the shop wiz (I'm a map seller) and I notice the F and H category coming up a lot more than my A category. Numbers come up a lot more often, too. And I also see a whole bunch of the W category. My experience has been that the A category is about the fourth most likely to come up, not the first.

Well... After listening to all of these responses, I will take percentages at 500 and 1000, starting clean.

I've found it to be rather random - which names show up first on the wiz.

And don't forget, even if it is true that the A group shows up first, it seems that the A group gets hit with the shop, etc. glitches more than others. I've seen my friend, who's username starts with A sit and chew her nails waiting for her gallery to reappear.

I think its also down to the size of your shop as well. Bigger shops are higher up the list when loads of people have the same price I think
