Zetapets = Neopets copy-cat??

there is one thing i do like about zetapets: the pets start out as babies and then grow up. everything else about zetapets is not worth mentioning.

The Eyrie is based after a griffon, as is that thing.
Just because they have a dragon pet doesn't mean they're copying them. If I draw a dragon, am I copying Neopets now? :\

I'm not saying the site is totally original, I'm pretty sure they've borrowed some stuff from Neopets, but come on.

neopets is just a tamagotchi on the internet. It's just the next logical step. neopets was found and purchased by big bussiness man Doug Dohring and injected with oodles of upper management and cash. That is the only reason they are the most well known.

Zetapets was made by a guy named Adam who is also registered here. Zetapets has few games, is too new and very laggy considering the detail put into it.

Yes Neopets Inc sued Dizzypets for stealing graphics.

When you look at the whole history of virtual pets. The tomagochi or whatever it was 8 years ago was the first(I think). Neopets is 5/6??? Years old and monopolised everything when it was incorporated.

-There's always a restart/reset in which all items are revamped. In neopets terms this could mean your Thyoras Tear could turn into a pile of dung the next day and a Faerie Slingshot the next next day
-Too few pets to even think of adopting one
-Too buggy
-Few Players
-Extreme Lag
-Extreme Glitches (including an easy cheat on a game)
-The owner of the site(lisa) just rents out websites to people to create their own virtual pet site.
-I myself have quit this site although there are much more places then neopets. The shops are closed at the time I'm at my computer.

Powerpets
-More of virtual pet site because you pet REALLY needs to be taken care of. Besides the site is based on facts of real life animals. Heck theres even a bookshelf for you to read stuff about them

-Has the next biggest number of owners 300,000

There ya have it. There are some other pet sites and most of them are pay to play . Lets just hope neopets won't be like them.

Edit: Yeah Either Powerpets or Zetapets is gonna be the successor of neopets when neopet's economy collaspes because of the New Member hoarding the retired items when they are not reset.

Basically every pet site on the internet has a little bit of Neopets in it. I mean, you can't have a virtual pet site without a few of the basic elements.
I do admit though that I have noticed that some of those do have Neopet-like species, and that does sometimes annoy me, but its usually nothing more than a vague similarity.
I've signed up for quite a few alternate virtual pet sites, but the only ones I've really gotten into are Neopets and Powerpets (and probably Zetapets). Powerpets isn't really a Neopets wanna-be; I think educating people about the proper care of animals is their main goal. You can adopt real pet species (I have a Maine Coon and a Somali). There is a possibility that your pet will 'die' if you don't feed it, so you have to be very responsible of them, and can't just let them starve.
Anyhow, I just signed up for Zetapets, and got a Leo. The pets on that site are really cute. Oh, I was wondering if anyone knows how long it will take for him (my pet) to grow up (although I do think as a cub he is very cute)?

There are lots of Neopets copycats out there. But Neopets has no competition when it coems down to mosst popular.

Neopets has compitition but other petsites are about 2 years old. Who would want to see Doug Dohring on Apprentice 2 (I still think he's the best) . And finally maybe end the evil that sloth has.....

Neopets has been the only pet site on the internet before 2002. It was lucky for neopets inc to monopolize it.

it took mine a month. this was last year, though, so they may have changed it since then.


these sites are not "copying" neopets. no one accuses hotmail of copying yahoo mail. it's good to have variety on the internet.
