I was just reading this article in the newspaper:
Click me!What do you think? Is the mouse soon to die? What are your preferences for controlling your computer?

Really interesting article. I posted a link about controlling iTunes using the built in iSight on the Macs too -
viewtopic.php?f=44&t=37763Hellllo Minority Report.
I suppose the best example of this touchscreen technology would be in the latest Bond flick where they show Em the evidence and speculation near the start of the movie.

It is a very interesting article.
I mean imagine what it would be like with PPT and virtual pet sites like Neopets when the technology finally comes out and is available to everyone.
We can already use said sites without a mouse by using a DS (Opera Internet Browser with a stylus) and Wii (Internet Channel with the Wii-Mote) but it doesn't look as good when you use a PC or Laptop to view said sites. Also you can't fully play Neopets on the DS and Wii.

I can't imagine it at all, but in some ways, it may solve some cases of carpel tunnel and related/similar problems!

I would be happy to see the mouse go. It keeps moving on its own at random times.

You need a new mouse then Stuman.

I almost have a hard time imagining a computer without a mouse. The mouse has been my friend for ages. However...the idea of some sort of device like a Wii could be interesting...

I read that as "The mouse has been on my fridge for ages."
I'd like a Wii computer. I hope it's better than the actual Wii internet though.

i can't half deal with those touch-sceen things. D;
so i hope it doesn't disappear.

I like my mouse, I hope it sticks around. I hate touch screens... And the controller on my wii is great for games, but it's not the most precise controller in the world. I miss click a lot when using the web browser.
I've got a teacher who insists that the monitor and tv's are going to be replaced with 3d imaging things. Which I can't find the point in at all...

Not anytime soon, I think. The touchscreen is all well and good, but still too expensive- besides, moving a mouse a few cm is more practical than waving all over a giant screen, but who knows what'll it be in 20, 30 years?

I cannot stop myself from thinking of that
system the main guy uses in Minority Report. I wouldn't mind havin one of those in my room :D

I wouldn't be surprised to see it updated, but until we can find a suitable solution to replace thinks like crosshairs for shooters, it will still be with us.
