I have lots of time to blab tonight... so if you have time to read interesting things... i have written obviously a lot of interesting things here. If you actually read ALL of this.... thanks for reading! Plus, with Altador released and needed a spot on the map (on the otherside of neopia, as stated by TNT) and bogshot coming to a map near you, its only appropriate to start map discussion!

So, obviously, Neopets must make a rotating/backside of Neopia, because they need the room, and because they've allready told us that they are going to do it! There's a good chance that they might not just add a "new side" to neopia and leave it with blank spots to fill in, but might possibly make a new planet itself... since the old one is relatively outdated... and they could move the worlds around. My hopes, is that they dont simply move the worlds to move spots and fill in the gaps, because as of right now, I see some reorganization that needs to happen... I was just wondering what your opinions were on this as well.

Overall, I see the new explore map as a big planet, with an arrow on either side so you can make it spin. Instead of having big signs next to all of them (especially when there isnt even a sign on Roo Island, mini world or not).. instead of having these signs, each one should have a bubble nex t to it, or like a glowing airbrush shape, and when you hover over it, then a text something will appear to tell you which world it is. Then you could put releated areas together, but not have to stick them on one link and seperate them from there.

Making Seperate Lands Visible on the World Map

-My first world situation to mention is Meridell. You see Meridell on the map, while actually, it isnt only Meridell, it is 3 worlds. King Skarl isn't the king of the world, with Darigan and Hagan being his sidekicks. These are 3 different lands. I personally think there should an island or peninsula set aside for medievalism... if thats a word... simply because a majority of the lands have been created so we can have all these different time periods. If anything, it would be cool to be able to spin around the globe and see these in somewhat of an order, but maybe thats being picky. Either way, these worlds are not alike, but of different time periods. Although Darigan once was a normal medieval world, it has been cursed and the land was physcially lifted and seperated from the rest of neopia, and is floating in the sky. Then there is a medieval world, Meridell, headed by King Skarl, and then a Rennosaince world, Brightvale. I think there should be a large chunk of land, and on it, have like a little...tri-thing set up, one being meridell, one being brightvale, and one being a large space where Darigan Land used to be.... and simply have that hovering slightly above, like Faerieland does. Then when you hover over them, you can go to one of those three worlds. Meri Acres farm would simply be a sub-map of Meridell.

I also think there should be an obvious desert, with two seperate links on it... similar to my medieval land idea. Now there should be a desert... either with everything in one of two lands in the desert, Sahkment and Quasala, or perhaps leave unauthroised territory for a third link, which really is the "Lost Desert".. for things like the shrine or Swarm and such.... then two lands that go along with the lost desert in the desert-like area.

Even Maraqua could be seperated in such a manner. In a large body of water (in a big ocean) have on spot for the Maraquan Ruins.. which is now basically a underwater area for uncivilized things that arent affected by people, and then New Maraqua, a world where people/neopets live. I think that'd be nifty.

Division Between Alien/Robot Mechanical/Futuristic Worlds
My second thing that to mention is the space ordeal, which is really just something I might personally have a grudge on, perhaps some of you do as well. Exactly what type of world is Kreludor, and what is the space station? Which one is space...which is..futuristic..which is alien-like...which is robotic/mechanical.... there needs to be more dividance here. I can see where they would want to show the planet where the grundos come from, but there are obviously free grundos there as they rule the planet... so I think Kreludor should be strictly an "alien world"... with the alien foods, and introduce alien like petpets, and have cool structures and such, but get some of the sloth robots out of there. The virupets space station can be left for a Mechancial robot place... get the alien pets out of the space station and onto kreludor, and have robot/futurstic/advanced technology at Virtupets.. leave wierd gizmos to Kreludor. They are divisions, but in many ways one in the same. In my opinion, Sloth should have his own mechancial/robot infested world, which could be simply a star or something you click on in the distance, Kreludor be an alien world, and the Virtupets space station is a futuristic world, which obviously isnt being USED for evil anymore... so we can say it is sponsored by sloth, but really has nothing to do with sloth anymore.... right? Or perhaps sloth could have his own little "secret" island, where its currently manufacturing...whatever he makes, and is run by his robots, and have factories or wierd structures and stuff.... so all that stuff can go there. The space station remains a futuristic space station, and Kreludor can be known as the alien like area.... i think that would work nicely.

Get rid of the other ice cap
Okay.. obviously Tyrannia is its own world somewhere.... faerieland floating there... Haunted Woods, Terror Mountain.... except for the fact that they are wasting a lot of space by putting another terror mountain at the bottom of neopia... only without and world actually there... and they arent going to make another ice world... they alllready have one, split into 3 maps allready. They originally had it there because that's what earth has, and it would seem appropriate to put the cold areas on the two ends... but wouldnt that make it hot in the very middle? See, my viewpoint is. ... this obviously ISNT earth. It's NEOPIA. A planet that has a large lost Desert, prehistoric rock land, floating dark worlds and faerie worlds, with a large chunk of woods in there doesnt need to have polar ice caps on either side. Simply mark the fact that Neopias largest mountain is at a specific location on the spinning map, and Mark it Terrot mountain... with the lower region around it being happy valley, and the inside of the mountain being the Ice Caves. it could be in a place such as where Meridell is on the current map. Just a mountain... doesnt have to be on the top or the bottom. Just get rid of the whole polar ice cap idea.

Mini Worlds

Okay, I personally think Mini worlds has become the worst idea ever. What are they? According to them.. they are little lands unmarked on the map... but... then...techincally we have a CRAPLOAD of miniworlds. Why isnt meri acres farm a mini world? Why wouldnt Quasala be considered a mini world? Its a little civiliaztion, just like Roo-Island. Wait, roo island IS on the map. You can only get to Kiko-lake by link.... and Geraptiku isn't a world... or a mini-world, its a city. Its called the lost city of Geraptiku. Its a place that was specifically inhabited by Mayan like-Neopians, and something dark or bad happened and it became deserted. So have it that way. A dark scary city portion of Mystery Island.. but its not really a mini-world. Roo Island is an island with links... just like Krawk Island. They are both named after species... so whats the difference? I guess the only difference is that mini-worlds have only a few links, which is really just a waist of space... UNLESS you dont declare them to be mini-worlds. Just have them on the map, so it is its own little world, or dont. Its either a world/land by itself, or a city. But the idea of mini-worlds really hasnt made much sense to me.

Anyway, these are some things i think they need to consider when remaking Neopia. It could be a lot more organized if seperate lands were made seperate lands, and this horrible mini-worlds thing was taken away... and make worlds more defiend, since we have an obvious Prehistoric land, Roman/Greek land, etc... something should be done about the whole space thing. Also, its Neopia. Its 108% fictionaly. Dont worry about making it realistic with polar ice caps and junk... or making it like earth. Make it like neopia, and put lands in places that make sense. I know I had some more things to mention.. but I'm tired now. :) Maybe Ill bring 'em up later. Yup!

Wow, that's a really good piece of writing you've got there.
I agree with the fact that the Neopian world needs *alot* of reorganizing! I'm not sure how far TNT will go with this initiative, however, as it will inevitably involve a ton of work, especially when it comes to the extra-terrestrial worlds and mini-worlds. You bring up several valid points, though. Maybe you should consider sending it to TNT (at the very least, the part with the mini-world complaint, I think it is very relevant). The links are hard to find!

I'll admit, I didn't read ALL of it. I tried, but I failed. But I did read the part about Darigan, Meridell and Brightvale. The reason they're all together is because they're inter-related. Darigan's castle isn't really the land of Darigan, if you'll recall. That's someplace else (and probably still cursed). Brightvale is sort of a twin land to Meridell, so they're side by side. There's no need for them to be separated on the map, especially since there's almost nothing going on in Darigan's citadel.

And so far, anything that has to do with outer space has been tied to our good friend, Dr. Sloth. That's both Kreludor and Virtupets Space Station. They're no real separation of the robots, though, so they're stuck with just being lab pets.

As for the southern ice cap... it makes for a nice symmetry, don't you think?

Seeing how you didn't read it, I'll summarise.

The Neopian World should not only be redrawn with the release of the rotatable world, but also upgraded to be more effecient. Mini-worlds currently don't have any real relevance and should be expanded or slotted into other areas. Places with more than one area on the map should be split unless they fit together (EG : Terror Mountain is broken into three areas - The Valley, Caves and Peak - however, Meridell is not only broken into four places - Castle, Farm, Main Area and Draik Nest - but also is apparantly linked to the Darigan Citidel and Brightvale simply because they're "related". Brightvale and Darigan's Citidel are not part of Meridell and as a result, should be linked from the map)

The polar ice cap at the bottom serves no purpose other than to fill space. Remove it and replace it with something better.

Kreludor and the Space Station currently "merge" where they shouldn't. We have roboticish petpets being sold in Kreludor and "alien" petpets being sold in the space station etc. Move all the "alien" things to Kreludor and the "space age/robotic" stuff to the space station

In fact, petpets aren't sold in kreludor. so they can't just move all the alien stuff over to kreludor, without creating a new shop. and while they're at it, they'd have to make a pile of the other petpets to the alien shop, what with their being alien-like. so therefore, it's perfectly fine the way it is.

and if the southern ice cap was removed, the planet would look stupid and meteorlogically impossible. if there is an ice cap on the bottom, there must be one on the top, unless the star is very oddly placed, or there is an insanely localized form of global warming. also, if there was a world on the bottom of the planet, it'd look a bit awkward what with it being upside down to the viewer and all

Really, note to self : Check facts first. Oh yeah, there was just some excitement about the possibility of a alien petpet store when those alien space petpets were found.

And I never really liked either of the poles. Terror mountain should be to the side a bit, as a mountain, not a polar ice cap. And besides, is it really that strange to have only one pole when you've got faeries, a thousand year old city nobody can remember, a previously cursed city of Qasala and multiple time periods all over Neopia ?

wow :o ....that's just amazing. great ideas, and i hate those stupid ambigous miniworlds, so ya, they die now. or merge/expand now, but that sounds weird. however, i like the southern ice cap. it makes it more planet-like, and less like a collage of random themes stuck on a sphere. i mean, i like the themes, they really make Neopia, but it needs the caps to be...balanced, sorta. here's what i mean:
Image
so, which is more planatoidish?
anyway, they could always take out the cap later. i mean, there is a lot of space wasted there...but i still think it makes it look better. anyway, the whole brightvale/darigan/meridell thing is screwed up. we definately need separate links. and overall, i like your thinking. ;)

I brought up the topic of an Alien petpet shop on Kreludor because the Virtupets Space Station has a "Robot Petpets Shop"....not a Space petpet shop, yet there are aliens in it. They should be moved to kreludor... and there could be alien pets there, and robots at virtupets.

That is not what I recall. Nothing is exactly "cursed".... cursed is just an easy way to describe their situtation, since the orb caused horrible mutatinos, and made the land turn into darkness, and eventually, the land itself began to seperate from the rest of neopia... and lifted itself into the sky, and now it can move around... and I guess when they parked at Meridell...they decided that they liked it there and shut the car off. They should move the Citadel around more...that'd be sweet. Remember Darigan standing at his window with the whole thing moving around? Hehe... imagine that thing colliding with Faerieland. Hah!

actually, i remember :
-meridell steals orb
-lack of orb causes disease etc. in Darigan. (yes, it's also the name of the land)
-Lord D. wants orb, builds citadell
-all citizens go on citidell
-Darigan singles out Meridell because they stole orb
-long fight
-peace
-kass
-'nother long fight
-orb breaks
-peace
EDIT: darigan plot[/url]

Okay, for that altered map you posted Makuta_Neodude, they wouldn't just edit out the southern ice cap and leave it, they would edit it out and moved the lands around so it's more spread out (for example, move the medieval lands down there).

I think Terror Mountain is fine where it is, except it should look more mountainous. Right now, it looks like a giant ice cap, when it should be a mountain. Also, they should remove the mountains on the western side of Neopia, behind the Haunted Woods, because they don't serve any purpose.

Oh, and about the thing with the no southern ice cap... Neopia defies all laws of science, especially geography and physics, so it wouldn't matter if there was no southern ice cap. Although, they could keep it, just make it a lot smaller.

But that article was good, Neopia really does need to be reorganized.

I totally agree on the whole Meridell-Brightvale thing. It's really annoying that the only way to get to Brightvale is through Meridell! Why should Skarl be the one to have his castle on the map? King Hagan is much cooler :P

Here's what I think:

-Bottom mountain needs to stay. Even if they moved more stuff down there to replace the lack of anything in the southern hemisphere, it wouldn't seem right. It just makes the whole planet seem more balanced. Perhaps later on they could turn it into a mountain world, but not a Colorado ice mountain kind of thing. More like a mountain in the desert, because that's what it's right next to.

-What are the mountains next to the Haunted Woods for? They don't serve any real purpose, and aren't even in the Haunted Woods map.

-Mini Worlds needs to go, and I agree with WW 100% on that.

-Now that we've seen an actual Lutari Paintbrush released, it's obvious we have a Lutari Island coming soon. Where will it go? They vaguely mentioned that it would be near Mystery and Krawk Islands, but nothing other than that. If they try to fit it in there without updating the map, then that area will start to get very crowded.

-They need to DO something with Geraptiku. I'm tired of seeing it standing there and not knowing what it's for, and wondering why the image for it is so crappy. For starteds, they need to put more stuff in it, and they eventually need to have a mini-plot explaining how it got destroyed. Hell, even a Neopedia article would be nice.

First off, there are things on the map that don't have to serve a "purpose". There are mountains behind the Haunted Woods. It explains why no one's gone back there. There also used to be a Spooky Cave in those mountains which had spooky poems, but that disappeared a couple of years ago. Still, it adds a bit of geology to the place. The desert also discourages people from going to the other side. And before Meridell was discovered, that isthmus was completely barren.

The miniworlds are fun little things they decided to add. After lots of people complaining about Roo Island, they added it. Kiko lake was another place often referenced but unfindable on the map. Now they have a location. Maybe these places could be expanded a bit, but they are intended to be small worlds (hence the mini). Gerapitku was a card they created for the TCG and they thought looked cool, so they added it to the Mystery Island map. Then after many complaints that it didn't do anything, they made it explorable. Not much more will be done with it unless they decide to add something more. However, I agree that a neopedia article would be nice. Maybe you could send in a suggestion, or write an article for the Neopia Times.

And I still stand by the rest of my comments. Leave Meridell as it is. There's nothing wrong with it as it is.

You're right about Meridell. It needs to stay the way it is. However, there needs to be a clear definition for the Mini-Worlds. Either they should be clickable from the main map, like Roo Island, or they need to be clickable from the other maps, like Geraptiku. I prefer the latter. In the Neopedia article, it says that you need to take a ferry from Neopia Central to Roo Island. That should be a reality. I also think the Neopia Central map is way too crowded, and a third part needs to be introduced. Perhaps a "Port of Neopia," for above reasons. Finally, Kiko Lake needs to be clickable from SOMEWHERE, instead of just being a link on the Explore page. Also, Altador is going to have to be put there at some point in time, and it's clear they have no space for it as of now. In case people haven't noticed, Altador is surrounded by mountains (hence the fact that you can see all of Altador from the Restive Tomb). Perhaps these same mountains could be the ones that border the Haunted Woods. Furthermore, there needs to be another part of Faerieland, and more stuff to go there. A Faerie Fields or something, where there could be some new games.
