^ That's what I did; that way, I can still remember my fake birthdays (well, most of the time, anyway).

There's really no reason to make up a birthday, you can't really be identified by that. I never give out my last name, address, or phone number if it asks though...

On a related note, I just tried logging in to all my side accounts, and all but one apparently have my real birthday. I must've been lazy the day I created that one. :( This sucks, it's only been 103 days, heh.

Edit: Oh I'm stupid, I was just using the wrong password. I did use my real birthday for that account, thank god. *Hugs poor neglected pets* :}

It also happens sometimes when you try to login with an incorrect password. I have to login so rarely(since I only play from home) that sometimes I forget what password I use, and it's popped up. I freaked out(because I made up a birthdate) and resigned myself to trying every day of the year until I figured it out, then discovered it was my regular birthday with the year changed.

No, but it's convenient in many places to appear to be above or below a certain age. Neopets is one such place. Many, many, many moons ago, when I still fell into the "under thirteen" age range, I would usually add enough years to my birthdate to appear eighteen. It kind of becomes standard practice to lie about your underagedness when you're, say, taking long involved online quizzes and only discover when you get to the end that you have to sign up for the quiz site and they don't allow minors.

Health insurance information is often keyed off your birthday.

I have discovered that if you hit the back key after getting the birthday request, it takes you back to the regular log-in page. I have then been able to successfully log-in on that page, without having to remember the fake birthday I gave them.

That's what I do. It's easier. :)

Ah well being a Brit I don't have to worry about that ;) That's interesting to know though.

Yes but what good is it for someone to know your birthday but not your name or anything else about you?

Honestly, from how often I hear about people having problems logging in because they forgot their fake birthday, it seems much more logical to use your real birthday, unless you need to be older than you really are to sign up.

I've logged in before, without having to enter the date on the same page. Just have to press enter and leave it to default. I hope they fixed it by now.

Edit:

It still works. Just press enter and you're in. Perhaps you can save your account.

Well, my account hasn't been iced, but I can't get into it because I had signed up with false information, to protect my identity. I don't remember the birthdate I signed up with... and its not like this account isnt worth anything either... Its worth over 1 million NP and its been active for over 4 years.

Anybody have any ideas on how to get it back?

The only way I could suggest to get it back would be to send them a mail to this page: account access

Give as much information as possible to prove the account is yours. Information that cannot be found out by merely looking at your user details. Things only you should know, like trades, stocks, neofriends etc?

But let this be a lesson to everyone. If you must sign up with a false birthday, at least write it down or memorise it for future use. The only reason websites ever ask for it is to prove age and to keep the account secure.
