On adding Caption Competition links[edit]
Thank you for adding links to caption competitons pages on articles. It's one of the many things which need to be updated on the articles, and your help is appreciated. ;) To help you in your goal, i thought i could give you a tip in finding caption competition pages for specific articles. If you see the Research resources, you will notice the Neopets search function has the option of Google to search the site for you. Using this, you can search for specific items, such as "Lupe", "Fyora" and "Maractite", and if they appeared in a previous contest, the link will show as "Past Winners of the Caption Contest" in the Google search. I hope this helps. :) --Jacob 03:00, 16 Jun 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tip. But, as time consuming as it is, I'm going to continue adjusting articles one caption at a time. This way, no object in the picture can be missed (both landscapes and "others"( Neopian creatures not Faerie, Neopet, PP, PPP). DreamingLady 03:05, 16 Jun 2007 (UTC)
Edit summay and minor edits[edit]
Two other things which can help other editors of the NeoDex: before saving your edit, be sure to write a summary of what it is you have edited into or out of the article. this will help future editors understand how you changed the article quickly, and not page through every single edit. Also, if it's a very small change (such as small spelling/grammer mistakes, or adding a single link), you can label it as a "minor edit" to emphasis no big change has taken place. --Jacob 03:31, 16 Jun 2007 (UTC)
- Also, we appreciate it if you use the preview button first before submitting, and try to make all the changes in an article within a single submit. --SwordFire 08:44, 16 Jun 2007 (CDT)
Oh, I very rarely forget to preview it. Just right now, I edit pages one caption at a time. I can't help it if they feature, let's say, the Blumaroo 20 times in a row.DreamingLady 13:46, 16 Jun 2007 (UTC)
- There is a suggestion: Since you have to look through all the caption contests, you can either record down the pets appearing in each caption contest, or you can record down the caption number which each pet appears on a text editor software. Of course, this is just a suggestion. :) --SwordFire 13:58, 16 Jun 2007 (UTC)
Again, PLEASE write an edit summary for what you are adding to or taking out of an article. And if the edit is small, mark it as minor. :( --Jacob 15:22, 17 Jun 2007 (UTC)
- Once again, i ask you to please write a proper edit summary when you add or remove something from an article. --Jacob 21:58, 21 Jun 2007 (UTC)
- The edit summary. please be sure to use it. :( --Jacob 13:27, 24 Jun 2007 (UTC)
On categories[edit]
Another tip!...i'm getting annoying aren't i? :( *shrugs* Anyways, be sure to read the NeoDex:Categorization article aboput categories, when and where to use them, and how to order them. I bring this up, as i noticed you are placing the "Characters" category on a few articles, when it's replaced by "Heroes" or "Villains" if the character is either of them. This rule and more to be found in the article! HUZZAH! :D --Jacob 14:12, 16 Jun 2007 (UTC)
Many congratulations...[edit]
On the sheer amount of thorough external linking you are doing... --Macbeth 23:19, 17 Jun 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed! :D --Jacob 01:05, 23 Aug 2007 (UTC)
Just a question[edit]
This plot an sich is over
"An sich"? Do you speak German? :D (You can neomail me the answer or, of course, you don't have to answer at all if you don't want to.)--Demon 19:45, 11 Jul 2007 (UTC)
On "To other editors"[edit]
I think the section is a nice touch to your user page. :D When you should upload a new image for the sultan's quest, the image can eventually be deleted...unless, of course, we make a seperate article for the quest (as I think we will do), in which case the image may still be useful...unless this new image blows it out of the water. :o Yes, I'm aware of the current state of Briana's image. I new one will be uploaded for it, if and when I can find that page in the Neopets magazine somewhere. Yes, I've been putting it off. ;) --Jacob 01:05, 23 Aug 2007 (UTC)
Capitalizing the Colour[edit]
When you are mentioning the colour of a Neopet character, be sure to capatalize the colour. That's the same practice they do on Neopets as you will notice if you on any Neopet lookup. --Jacob 01:04, 27 Aug 2007 (UTC)
