NeoDex:Zero Tolerance
Warning: Policy | |
---|---|
This page is, or relates closely to, NeoDex policy. While not set in stone, changes to policy should be discussed on the relevant talk page. |
The Zero Tolerance (ZT) scheme is a vandal-deterrent being piloted on the NeoDex designed specifically to combat vandalism on articles talk pages.
The ZT scheme was initiated to help deter the spamming of hyperlinks on certain article talk pages. Protecting the main article page to combat the spamming of hyperlinks on specific pages only served to move the spam to the talk page. As a talk page cannot be protected - it is required to remain open so changes to the article itself can be discussed - the ZT scheme was initiated to act as a deterrent and to help the retaliation effort.
Zero Tolerance Zones
A talk page is designated a Zero Tolerance Zone (ZTZ) when it has become the repeated target of vandalism. A page being a ZTZ alerts editors to expect vandalism, and also advises a minimum of 5000 hours of suspension time should vandalism occur.
Should it become necessary, several stages of Zero Tolerance Zones may be introduced, with different advisory suspension times.
It should be noted that the suspension time suggested is not mandatory: if vandalism occurs but appears to be more the accidental act of a new editor, for example, a sysop can use their own discretion.
Currently, there are two ZTZs:
- Talk:Armada - Designated 02/03/07.
- Talk:NeoBoard - Designated 02/03/07.
