Gadsgadsbogen - good good day in the native language - is the Mystery Island festival of fruit held annually at the beginning of the month of Running (March; sometimes March 1st, but often later). New exotic fruits appear and the Islanders celebrate this by holding a big tiki-style party. Each year a Grand Bogen is appointed to preside over the festival, and since 2003, seemingly for several years running, this has been Rufus.

For Gadsgadsbogen new Mystery Island fruit items are released and old ones (such as Juppies) are retired. It also serves as a general celebration of all things Island, often with pets released in new Island colours.

The festival is marked by parades and street performers, and a dismissal of tensions that usually occurs between natives and tourists. The honour of naming the new fruits is left to Cinto Pango, an elder of the Pango tribe, in a ceremony that concludes the festivities.

Origin

The festival originates from Islanders Llugh the red Mynci and his friend Mizkuko the red Aisha, when 'Trickster' Llugh made a claim that he was faster than the sun and was challenged to race from one end of Mystery Island to the other in a day, beating the sun. Llugh's race across Mystery Island was arduous but was aided by the fruits he'd taken along for sustenance. Even though he lost many on the way, he still had his Juppies, but when a hungry traveller asked if LLugh could spare a Juppie just as the sun was setting, Llugh kindly gave away his last yellow Juppie. The traveller was in fact an Earth Faerie called Tyleine, who granted Llugh the strength to get to the edge of Mystery Island before the sun had gone over the horizon. When Llugh returned, Tyleine asked that he throw the seeds of the Juppie she had saved, so that new fruit would grow. When he did this new fruits and vegetables grew and this was continued each year, which is how the festival began.

In 2003 (starting March 3rd), Neopets released the Gadsgadsbogen Puzzle - a mini-plot in which users were asked to match Kyishi, Tiki Tack Man, Rufus (Grand Bogen for the first time), Vik, Harry, and Jhuidah the colour of the grass skirt they wore, how low they could limbo, which cocktail they drank, and what fruit they ate, at the Gadgadsbogen party.
