Question about templates

How does one go about creating a template? I have an idea for helping wikify the characters such as Abigail, AAA, the faeries, etc. It would consist of a name, image, species or type, age, occupation, hobbies, quotes, etc. This would allow for cleaner articles with all the basics listed near the top. For example: see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neopets for the type of box I am thinking of. Obviously this is not accurate for a character. --mom2twinzz 15:06, 17 Mar 2008 (CDT)mom2twinzz
