Roberta is an Acara and King Hagan's favorite niece. She was originally trained to be a diplomat but chose the life of a sorceress instead. Seradar is King Hagan's advisor and magician. He teaches Roberta magic.

King Hagan is the ruler of Brightvale and Roberta's uncle. He is wise and friendly, a sharp contrast to his brother Skarl, who is gluttonous and ill-tempered.

King Skarl is the ruler of Meridell. He is gluttonous and ill-tempered, a constrast to his brother Hagan.

Queen Fyora has been the ruler of Faerieland for as long as anyone can remember and watches over the Hidden Tower. In Act 2, she is captured by the Darkest Faerie.

Illusen is a powerful Faerie that resides in Illusen's Glade in Act 1. She is an Earth Faerie who is the first to sense the Darkest Faerie's return. She has a relationship with the city of Meridell for aid. In Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, Illusen's Glade is under attack by the Werelupe King and his Werelupes. Illusen has a long time rivalry with the Werelupe King. During Act 1, the Werelupe King steals Illusen's Charm and her glade is taken over by the Darkest Faerie. In Act 3, Tormund and Roberta must find the charm in Werelupe Woods and bring it back to Illusen for help into Meridell.

Villains

The Darkest Faerie was one of the 12 protectors of Altador. She was punished for her crimes by Queen Fyora by being turned to stone and hidden in the ruins of Maraqua. Now, she has returned after 1000 years, and seeks revenge on Fyora. However, she could not reach Altador for some reason, and decided to attack the nearby kingdom of Meridell. Her constellation used to be The Sleeper.

The Dark Faerie Sisters are the Darkest Faerie's elite minions. They are known as Vanity, Malice, and Spite. They appear in Act 1 when the Darkest Faerie took over Meridell Castle. They are invulnerable to any kind of attack. That makes them in Act 1 completly invincible to Tormund when he tries attacking them. The only way to hurt them was in Act 3 when Roberta drained their invulnerability from them with Fyora's Wand. Tor and Roberta fight them in the Kings Chambers in Meridell Castle in Act 3. Vanity has the braided hair, Malice has long hair, and Spite has two pigtails.

The WereLupe King is not an exact minion of the Darkest Faerie, but his land is one of the only lands to be unaffected by the Darkest Faerie's magic. He is the biggest of all the WereLupes and carries a boomerang-like weapon which he used against Tor. He sends Gnarfas to deal with Tor in Act 1, and then is defeated by Tor in Werelupe Woods in Act 3. He has a long rivalry with Illusen the Earth Faerie for control of her land.

The Gelert Assassin is one of her most cunning minions. She sent him after Tor and Roberta to stop them from trying to free Meridell. He fights several times with the two heroes, but always leaves to reappear and mess something else up for them. He fights Tor and Roberta outside Brightvale in Act 3, but is ended by the Brightvale guards rushing in. He finally fights them in Illusen's Glade when they are returning the faerie's charm.

Ixi Raider Chief is the leader of the Ixi invaders of Cogham Village. He is aware of Meridell's past interferences. When his Ixi soldiers invade Cogham in Act 1, only Tormund arrives to deal with them. The Cheiften carries a double ended axe, which means he has a stick with an axe on both ends. He uses that axe to control fire type attacks. He is defeated by Tor in Act 1 and returns in Act 3 when his troops kidnapped the townsfolk and took them to the abandoned mines. The town is under the Darkest Faerie's powers then.

Her constellation is The Protector. She appears as an old lady Roberta meets in Faerieland in Act 2. Her Harris was stuck in a tree, and Roberta rescued it. She gave Roberta an amulet for her troubles. She was later captured by the Darkest Faerie because of her odd ability to resist Darkest Faerie's control like Tormund. Roberta distracted the Darkest Faerie with the bells in the clock tower to free Jerdana and let her escape. She later appears in Act 4 after Tor and Roberta awaken 4 of the Twelve Protectors in Altador.

Florin is a yellow Kacheek and guardian of the forests and woodlands of Altador. His constellation is The Farmer.

Marak is a Peophin and rules over the oceans and seas surrounding the coastal city of Altador. His constellation is The Wave.

He appeared to Tormund in the form of Krell the Beggar when Tormund saved him from a gang of thieves while on route to Meridell in Act 1. He gives Tormund the same kind of amulet that Jerdana gave Roberta. He said never to take it off. He returns in Act 4 when they reawaken him in Altador.

Siyana is Altador's resident Light Faerie and one of the 12 protectors. Her constellation is The First to Rise.

Psellia is Altador's resident Air Faerie. Her constellation is The Dreamer.

Fauna is an Acara and one of the 12 protectors. As her name implies, she may be guardian of the creatures of Altador. Her constellation is The Gatherer. She was Servant Faun in Meridell Castle in Act 1 to Tormund. She wanted Tor to catch 4 Miamice so she could return them to the gardens. She helped Tormund escape through a sewer passage when the Darkest Faerie and her sisters attacked Meridell.

Gordos is a Skeith and one of the 12 protectors. His main role is treasurer of Altador, and his constellation is The Collector. In Act 3 he is found as the merchant Gord selling items and treasure maps from a cart next to a lake in Western Brightvale.

He repaired Torak's broken blade and was taken into Torak's training. He appears in Act 4 when they awaken him in the Colosseum District. He was the Man-At-Arms while in Meridell.

Sasha is a Cybunny and one of the twelve protectors of Altador. Her constellation is The Dancer.

The Darkest Faerie is a dark faerie and was once a protector. She betrayed Altador. Her constellation was once The Sleeper.

One suggested role for the 12 Protectors in the game is that they are all imprisoned, and you must release them through a series of puzzles, but you only reawaken 5 of them.
